[FF V] why does everyone hate this game?

To the people who say to job system is long and boring to master I don't think they intended for you to go and master every job but to pick jobs you'll think will help and choose abilitys to help with that but now im just looping I think
P.S. :caps: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ NAO I NO MA ABCS NXT TAM WUNT U SANG WIT MEH!!!! lol sorry

I agree with whoever said Bartz was forgettable at best. I mean, the most he has to his name is that he was the son of one of the Four Warriors of Dawn. Other than that, I named him Batman :3

Faris was very deep story wise, what with Syldra, the pirates, the hiryuu (in the King's diary).

I think everyone who has played loved Galuf, I mean, everyone who got to the point where you get Krile (Cara). I myself could only play through once in an every while, cos I'm a completionist and what-not :P

But story wise it was very in-depth. Between not knowing what Exdeath was going after for quite some time, having a new character come in, stuff happened really. Although I must express my not liking of how Enuo could easily take care of Exdeath :P I mean, where was he? I suppose Exdeath mimicked him when he sat back and watched your party destroy the crystal seals in the Guardian Tree thingy.

Enough of the story analysis... I loved the jobs aspect. I also loved Tactics, so I guess there's a pattern, but I really didn't like how even if you changed an ability to another, that neither effected equipment, that it would still "optimize". Was the most retarded thing, other than Omega. The whole "sap" condition was new to me, I kinda freaked out at first, as it didn't say it was a condition or anything, and I don't think they did so well with their status ailments and they just did poorly with the bestiary (mislabeled immunities, absorbs, etc).

And Orange_Geomancer, I always master every job :P (habit)

This is my favorite FF, Im playing it right now for like the tenth time

Bartz: His adventurous attitude makes me think of a certain cartoon where the main character is named after food.

Lenna: Pink hair FTW

Fairs: Shes a pirate, nuff said

Gramps: Funny old guy is funny

Krile: OMG lolicon

Exdeath: Sweet christmas, its a talking tree

I like the variety in jobs, ad how it lets you customize your party. Its like pokemon, but with less animal abuse

Wow, there has been quite a lot written on this thread, but I guess I'll put in my two cents worth too, I need to get 50 posts put in so I can play the RPG LOL. Seriously, I have somewhat affectionate feelings for FF V because not only was it the first Fin Fan I ever played, it was the first RPG ever that I played. Hopefully I'll not bore y'all to tears, but I had bought my first playstation at the tender age of about 54 because I wanted to get into flight simulation. Well, I bought one of the Ace Combats, and I was so amazed at what it would do that I wanted to experiment with some other games. I asked the clerk at Game Stop what one of his most popular games was and he unhesitatingly replied, "Final Fantasy". So I shelled out about $19.99 and got a used double pack of FF V/FF VI. When I first started playing it (remember please I was greener than a sick tomato) I thought "this is dumb". I just didn't get the point. Not only that, I was so bad, those little wimpy goblins you fight at the beginning, you know? They kicked my butt, and about 3 minutes into the game I got game over. So anyway (yes this is soon coming to an end) I almost gave up on it, but somehow I tried it again, and after awhile it grew on me...I still enjoy playing FFV, I went all the way throuh and am now on my second time, about 3/4 of the way through. Of course, the first time was about 6 years ago, because since then I have played FFI, FFVIII, etc, etc. Yes, I liked the job system, I never thought about the characters being too shallow because I was too busy trying to keep them alive. Anyway, I better stop 'cuz I don't want this to become a book and presumably neither do you.

I've got to say that the main reason people don't like five is because of Bartz. He was the most generic character in the entire series. Seriously, the only way you get to find anything solid about him out is by going to his home town and staying the night. Even then it's short and kind of weird.

I think that Farris or the Old Man (im currently playing the game and I just can't seem to remember the name of this character, how strange) would have been better choices as main characters as they had a lot more depth then, 'wondering adventure who rides around the world on a chocobo'

And that's another thing, if he was apparently a world travelling adventurer how the hell did he get around on a chocobo?!?!? Normal chocobos can't cross water or mountains. And also did anyone else notice that he just kind of abandoned his pet chocobo at the beginning of the story and you never saw it again?!?!? Was't that supposed to be his best friend or something?!

So yeah as you can see there are quite a few reasons that people don't like the game. It's not too say that it's not a decent addition to the FF universe, it just means that some people won't really be able to appreciate it that much.

I quite enjoy FFV, certainly prefer it over a few of the others. Story is decent but a little muddled. Characters are pretty sound apart from the lead himself, Bartz is truly awful. Soundtrack is pretty nice aswell.

It's not the best FF game by any stretch of the imagination but it doesn't deserve all the hate that it gets...save that for X-2 and XII!!!

I think FF5 is awesome.
I heven't finished it,but so far,I wonder why it's so underrated. The only problems I had with it were the slightly uninteresting characters (Bartz and Lenna) and that some of the job classes are usless. Even though, it's a great game.

There was some article on a website about FFXIII, and FFV actually came up the most as the favorite game of the series in the comments. Not FFIV, VI, or VII, but V!

I found this interesting. Maybe gameplay matters more to FF fans than people care to think?

I really did like this game, and i don't see why everyone hated it. Sure it got boring in the middle for me, but its not BAD in general. Its a okay game, with a okay story. Not great. Not Bad.

Though generic and slightly cheesy, I absolutly adore this game. THe job system is great, the characters are well developed and the storyline is simple but catching. some people don't like this but It's my favorite game.

I think I'm one of the only people who thoroughly enjoyed this game thought i was really good, yeah exdeath had a stupid name and i get what people are saying about the characters but they wern't terrible, to be honest it appealed to me a lot more than FFVI which i still have'nt completed because i find it really hard to get into even with 15 odd hours playtime.

As for the job system I really liked it it allowed for really good skill combinations with characters and made the battles enjoyable in my opinion. I also liked how the main story wasnt all that difficult but the secret bosses and other challenges (like that bloody fool who you get mime off, it was so simple when you knew what to do!) made it a really enjoyable game. I still have'nt gone back to do the secret bosses but I thoguht it had a good storyline and I thought the last dungeon with its like what 20 odd bosses was a really good ending and much more challenging than say the last dungeon in FFX, but maybe I just like a challenge a bit more i dont know.

Never heard of 'everyone hating ff5'. From what I've seen, the game is held in high-esteem. I enjoyed it. The original ff5 is better than ff3's remake, I think. You can actually excel in jobs without feeling a sense of dread that you're wasting your time. The real question should be: Why does everyone like ff3 so much?

Why is this game hated ?

I love Final Fantasy V. It's my 3rd favourite Final Fantasy. With IX and VI being my top favorites. Though alot of people hate and dislike FF V and I just want to know why ? :sad3:

FF V supporting it. It has great and humors character, the goofy type that just makes you want to lol, wonderful music. Powerfully orchestrated. Hard and challenging dungeons and bosses and a creative and imaginative storyline. FF V has all the recipes for a great game and a great Final Fantasy.

So why no love ?
:sad3:

Also it has a picture of a pretty dragon on the front cover. :awesome: Don't forget about the pretty dragon. :gasp:

I think 5 was great. Can't wait for a remake.

Some people assume that 3 and 4 are better, not taking in the fact that they were remade on the DS. When they remake 5, they'll be able to make a more accurate comparison.

And others who know the difference and still think 5 sucks: You don't deserve to play FF!!!
I personally think even the remake of 3 sucks. Unlike 5, you still can't even contrast your jobs. You might as well stick to one and not even switch them up. Seriously now, wth.

I have to say though, 6 was pretty effin good. Probably outdoes 5. But still, there's no reason to call it a bad FF.

EDIT: whoops, i already posted on this thread X). oh well, at least yall kno exactly what i think lol

Oh sorry Robot Santa. I should of looked around to try and see if there was a thread that was similar. BTW I love Futurama :wacky:

Yay for the FF V love.

Anybody think that some of the hate might be because of the english version of the GBA game? FF V is my all time fav, but all the stupid puns in the GBA version I just couldn't handle -.-

I'm almost certain that if this game got a DS or PSP remake it would go up in popularity alot :)
