Nintendo Favorite Mario Game

What is your favorite Mario game? I originally wasn't going to make a poll because there are way to many and I'd probably miss one. But I figured why not. I only included the games from the major consoles and I'm sorry if I missed any. I didn't include any sports games, or SSB.

Mine is Mario 3. Yeah old but this is the one that I have the most fun playing. It was also the most challanging for me. I only beat it once and it was with an emulator and saving every five seconds. I also had to watch a video to figure out how to get to the end.

My favorites are between SMB3 and SMW. But to choose one one is tough but I think I will say Super Mario World. The game is long for the 2D series if you include the secret areas it is even longer than SMB3 and even though SMB3 has special power-ups SMW has 4 different Yoshis. 3 of which having their own special abilities and you could also hold an extra power-up with you when you enter a new stage. While it did make the game easier I thought it was a nice feature.

Also I know you said only console platformers but honorable mention goes to Super Mario Land 2 and NEW Super Mario Bros.

Oh you can put down a non major console Mario games. I just only included the major console releases in the poll because there are so many Mario games that they list would be way to long to remember them all. And there are even those that appeared on failed systems (Virtual Boy, CD-I) I included the "other" option for other not as well known Mario games

Mario Superstar Saga. I liked the tag team action in the game and the many references to his past exploits seemed really nostalgic to me. I knew most of them and it felt good to. I liked the gameplay, as it was RPG and I thought that was a great turn for the Mario series. The story wasn't half bad at all, either. It was fun to experience.

It's not a standard Mario game, but Mario RPG for the SNES is one of my all time favourite games. One of the best soundtracks ever, great mini games, all round fun.

My favourite from the list is Mario 3, but RPG is the one for me.

I have to say Super Mario Bros. 3. it was my fist one I think and I found myself playing it to death -- Literally, it broke -- Plus my mom loves this game, Mario for the 64 came close though ...but no Cigar...

Ugh - I hate having to choose between 2 and 64.

I'll go with 64 as I think, even relative to console/technology, it was just a better game. I wasted 1/2 a year of college getting all 120 stars.

I've gone for Mario Sunshine, as I love the whole holiday theme and the cinematics. I prefer collecting shines to stars, as they actually seemed to have an effect on the island.
However, I haven't played Mario Galaxy 2 at all yet, so maybe that will beat it.

I voted Mario Sunshine as well, for the same reasons as you, and as much as I love Super Mario Galaxy 2, I still like this one better. It is (both literally and figuratively) the brightest Mario game ever made and is just a blast to play. The graphics (in my opinion) are far better in that game than in any Mario Games out now, including both Mario Galaxy games and New Super Mario Bros. Wii- which should probably have been on the poll list!- and has a huge amount of new elements.
When I first read about the game before it came out and it was described as Mario having to clean up vandalism around a resort I thought it was going to be a total bomb, and in the vein of something like "Mario's Missing" for the SNES, but the game turned out to be incredibly innovative, well structured, nostalgic, and beautiful.



On a side note, you may want to consider adding Super Mario RPG as well as New Super Mario Bros. Wii to your list, Rydia. Those two are both great games as well

Super Mario world and SUper Mario Bros 3. Beaten both only once. But man were they fun. Super Mario World probably takes the cake though. The first one i played and just overall, best Mario game i think.

i really like super mario sunshine the game really caught my eye when i first played it as a demo but sadly i've only just gotten a gamecube this year oh well better late then never i was disappointed to not see this super mario sunshine at the store i bought my GC at but since i got a summer job i probably be increasing the amount of GC games i have by atleast 2

I had a hard time choosing between 1, 3 and World.

We played Mario as a family, and I have many fond memories of being 2/3 and watching my older sister's playing Mario 1.. and then a few years later watching my folks playing Mario 3, and loving it. We would spend endless hours getting all the secrets, flying in all sorts of directions and like.. know everything.

I've beaten Mario 3 multiple times and can just sit there for hours playing endlessly. Once when the Cable/internet was out, I sat for 7 hours and completed Super Mario World in one sitting. Biggest, yet funnest waste of time.

In the end, I had to choose 3. Love that Tanuki suit. :3

I tried to edit the poll to add Super Mario RPG and New Super Mario bros but I wasn't able to. Anyone know how? Should I add New Super Mario Bros Wii because there is a simular one for the DS? What about the arcade Mario games? Or Paper Mario?

I went with Super Mario World. Different colored Yoshi's, Chocolate Land, Bowser's castle looking like a casino= awesome.

I voted for Super Mario 64 but I should have voted "Other" because the best Mario game is Super Mario RPG. Super Mario 64 had a good replay value and I spent a lot of times getting all the stars. It was really fun.

I voted for mario 3 because I really grew up with the 3 originals and played them with my dad all the time...But I do own mario world for my nintendo DS...but Its got nothing on super mario 3. Im surprised mario sunshine is so close in this poll..I didnt think it would get so many votes. Also Im surprised mario 1 and 2 dont have more votes.
