Sounds a lot like something from the famous five really.
In very little literature other than nice English perfect world literature will you find people you have a study.
People have their own rooms but they never call it a study.

Do you actually have a study?

I know loads of people who have studies. We don't, but I don't even have my own bedroom let alone a study, so...

The stereotypical English person is actually being created and reinforced by Americans. Then they can ridicule the stereotype to make themselves feel better.

Accepting that you don't have a study is the first step towards becoming an independent society free from negative foreign influences.

No idea, but it sounds convincing.

You couldn't have a velcro house, because you'd get stuck and wouldn't be able to move. You'd likely starve to death. Actually you'd die of thirst long before that.
