Facebook Hack

What a way to end my new year. My facebook got hacked and it sent a bunch of messages to my friends stating:

"I heard Ahmed is making money online with NBCNews155 . com"

"hey what's up? was just chatting with Ahmed and they asked me if you know about NBCNews155 . com or not"

"Ahmed wanted me to pass this on to you NBCNews155 . com"


Ahmed...what'd you do?! I blame your brother. It had to be him!

But anyway, I started getting similar replies back all titled "Hi" and random friends saying, "How does it work!" "Really, how does it work?!" "Oh wow, you'll have to show me how it works!" ... and I thought everyone's account got hacked or something and reported a few as spam. My apologies if one of those happened to be you. =/ My account got suspended for a minute but I was able to retrieve it and change my password.

So let's hope that's the end of that.

I got that message from you and wondered what the heck was going on. All that was running through my mind was, "Who's Ahmed?" But then you've explained this and now it all makes sense. What a strange way to end 2009 indeed. However, we're already in 2010. You just need to catch up with most of us now!

This happened to me on two seperate occassions abut a month or two about... It sent a message like that to ALL of my contacts... I had to literally go through everyone's profile and delete the message as quick as I could before I annoyed people so much that they decided to block me.

Luckily I don't think it did any harm, but still it was incredibly annoying.

My account was suspended for a few minutes as well, and I changed my password and everything seems to be fine now.


It's silly though... I always used to think that people who had that kind of thing were people that had clicked the links that others had sent them and fallen for the virus / hack / whatever, until it happened to myself (I did nothing I am aware of to spawn this).

It's hard luck really I think, but if you change your password it should be fine. If it happens again perhaps tighten the security settings.
