This photo just explains ALL my anticipation for this film.

I enjoyed the original, and I'm excited for this new one.

Why?

Look at the top of the photo.

Now it's up to the actors to make it as golden as the original was. (Crosses fingers)

There are youtube vids but I CBA to get them now... I'll do it later... Or someone else do it for me

EDIT: Trailer is here on IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1288558/

I honestly got chills watching it. It was beautifully gory and creepy :ohoho:

I won't be surprised if this one turned out to be a comedy instead of horror. I remember laughing so much, especially in 2 and Army of Darkness.

Believe it or not, Evil Dead (original) did not try to be funny, it came off that way because of the cheesy acting and effects :O So I think they are aiming at fixing that and making the remake as horrifying as possible (while keeping an R rating)

I COULD be wrong though! But in case you did not see the trailer, here it is. Let me know if you think it's a comedy after watching this: (I'm not trying to be a smart ass)

I know, I watched it for a horror approach and laughed out instead.

Seems disturbing to me. But who knows?

Another pointless horror remake that almost certainly won't compare to the original (see also: Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street etc) - hooray!

OK that's maybe a a bit harsh as Sam Raimi is involved in this, but still unsure this will live up to the original. Besides the comedy/horror mix may have been unintentional, but it's part of what made the original work.

I do really hope this turns out to be a really good film. I don't plan on catching it in the cinemas as I think they loose much of the spooky atmosphere in theatres packed full of other cinemagoers. I've never felt half as scared watching a horror film in a cinema as opposed to the comfort of my own home.

To be honest, though... :hmmm:

I think a remake would be better if it was made by someone else. :hmmm:

I could be wrong. It's just that, many of Raimi's films as of late have been rather lacklustre. Though I do hope that since he was the original director for Evil Dead, that he gets back on form for this. I kinda have a feeling it's gonna focus more on an overall updated look and feel and may loose out on much of what made the original so good. I hope this isn't the case. -_-

i will hold (very) low expectations for this and probably not bother watching it. the original trilogy, army of darkness included, are all fantastic films for very different reasons and this is an insult to that trilogy. people will point out that sam raimi has produced it as he did with the original, but can you name a good film he's directed or produced over the last decade? the grudge, boogeyman, drag me to hell, the spiderman trilogy which was only okay and not a cult classic like the evil dead films.

there were rumours a while ago that bruce campbell will have a cameo role in this one. i don't know if anything ever came of that, but i fear that not even that will save this film.

Nahhh man. Eff this. I get scared by furbys and music from the 1920's. There's no way I'm watching this movie. Mom told me of the horror of the first movie. She's officially scarred for life from it. I get scared very easily, so this is not gonna happen. I'm suprised I even sat through the Paranormal Activity movie, without freaking out. If I try to watch this, I'll probably end up with screaming issues. I already have fear issues anyway! :D

I think you are being too harsh there.
Drag me to hell is quite good. it's not scary and the humour is quite crude, but it is funny.
The first two of his Spideman movies were good, the second better than the first. They probably suffer from being before Nolan's Batmans, which has revolutionised superhero movies. I can't see another superhero movie having someone like Arnold Schwarznegger as the main baddie anytime soon.
Although I agree that remaking classic horror movies is a bad idea. All the remakes I've seen have been poor. The only way the remake will be better than the original is that it won't have scene in which the girl is raped by the trees, which was fairly unpleasant.

i'm actually sort of looking forward to it now. after seeing the trailer a few times, it doesn't strike me as looking so bad, but then a lot of horror films have decent trailers and end up being a massive let down

Ah, you didn't like Drag me to Hell? That's a shame. I thought that was a fantastic film.... scary as hell, but still great. :lew: the spiderman trilogy was amazing I thought. :okay: Raimi just made the Oz film which I liked as well. Anyway, Sam said he hand picked this director because he knew they could capture his style, he said he trusted him with it--so as a Raimi fan I'll trust him.

I saw the trailer for it while watching America Unearthed on History channel and I saw THIS part

and i screamed like a baby.

It's eyes are just so freaking weird and large :gonk:

drag me to hell was an appalling film. the last thing you're supposed to do with a horror film is laugh at it, and i found myself laughing at it a lot. the first two spiderman films were quite good, but didn't exactly take the world by storm and the third film was a shambles that let the whole trilogy down. i'll admit that oz the great and powerful was better than i expected though.
