If there's a thread like this one, by all means move it or delete it.

Post which final bosses you have found to be epic and why. I'm choosing to post videos about those bosses to give you visual examples, but it's your choice to post and/or view videos. Here are my picks:

Donkey Kong Country Final Boss:
King K. Rool
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvpRdZJpZnU

Not many people find this battle epic, but DK Island on the background kinda reminds you all the difficult bosses you fought and hard levels to pass in order to get here. Plus, the OST is pretty nice for a final boss.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bleo-FydFVM

This is more like it! The song sets the mood, making you think "Oh, no. This is serious. If Diddy and Dixie can't make it through this, DK is done for!" And DK himself is impressive. Surviving that beating at the beginning. Just more proof that he's tough. I also like what he does in the end, though I find 3:56-4:00 a little disturbing for a rated E game.

Donkey Kong 64
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en9JIbwxCZs (Part 1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t9YIdiNz9A (Part 2)

Not only epic, but one of the most creative and funniest final bosses ever. I miss this game so much, but I don't recommend watching the vids if you are still playing this game.

So you know now that I'm a fan of the DK series, back when Rare was still in the gaming business with Nintendo. These are just among my faves, though FF is up there with DK. So what about you? What final bosses do you consider as epic?

Castlevania: Portrain of Ruin -
Dracula

Its always the same in Castlevania games, but this one stuck out in particular to me. Pairing
Death and Dracula
is, like, the ultimate terrifying combo, and then fusing them together...I was more than a little intimidated.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria -
Anarchic Entity, aka Lezard Valeth

An inevitable conclusion, really...but DAMN, did he up the difficulty of the game. I breezed through the game, then I got to this boss...I got beaten into next week. Plus the music is absolutely brilliant, as is the character~

Mass Effect 2 -
Reaper Human Larva

I was initially very disappointed with this boss - it was chained to a wall, and shooting the tubes resulted in it tumbling into the abyss. Then it came back out of the abyss. "OH, CRAP!"

Dragon Age: Origins -
ArchDemon

This is the very epitome of "epic". I mean, you get entire ARMIES to help you with this thing. The entire game has been nothing more than preparation for it, and it ends in spectacular style. The battle theme is quite ominous, as well...

Metal Gear Solid 3 -
Cobra unit

The reason I included the entire Cobra unit, instead of just The Boss is because they're all epic. Infact, The End has been listed on many sites under the top 10 boss battles of all time, and indeed it is! MGS has always done very well with all their boss fights. There is always this sense of actual danger, and a feel that you really have to 'survive this fight'. Elements such as battle grounds, background music and the like are always right on point and never disapoint!

Metal Gear Solid 4 -
Liquid Occelot

Another one of those 'multi-stage boss battles' but it is very well done! In the final slog, they even run through the main themes of every one of their past games, which for us MGS vets, reminds us of just how far we've come since the beginning to reach the end, instead of just this one game. Incredible, incredible, incredible! (Even if it a fight between junkies >_>)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Ganondorf
The first two parts of the final battle were cool, but when you have to fight the last battle on horse
while Zelda is shooting light arrows from the spirits you freed at the back of his head
just makes the battle even MORE epic. Then, you have to fight him one on one while everyone else is watching helplessly of to the side. And THEN, you get to use the Finishing Blow to kill him off.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night-
Dracula
After searching the entire castle 100 times over, you finally get to put an end to
your father.
The scene before the boss just makes the experience that much better. Every time he tried to attack, I thought I was done for. Every. Single. Time.

Final Fantasy IV-
Zeromus
I didn't like the fact that the boss appeared out of nowhere, but the epicness that you feel while flying through the stars while killing one of the most awesome bosses of the series.

I always thought that last boss in Shadow of the Colossus was pretty epic lol.

Gigyas from Earthbound. Just everything he said when you fight him really creeped me out when I fought him. He really did sound crazy.

Ghaleon from Lunar. OMG I've never been so stressed when fighting a boss. I don't know if I was just underleveled but my poor healer did not get a break! And he was just an awesome villian in general. I almost didn't want to fight him for the last time because I enjoyed him so much.

Zeromus from Final Fantasy IV. He was a very difficult final boss. And the moment before hand
when all your friends not in the final party pray for you and raise your stats
really make this emotional. It still brings a tear to my eyes and the game is so old... And the music really pumps you up for this fight.

this dirtbag:

basically he harasses you the entire game, cheats on his pokedex, and manages to beat you to every damn gym leader no matter WHAT order you fight them in. he doesn't even bother fighting Team Rocket, instead he somehow manages to slip through all of their grunts and slow you the hell down right before you reach Giovanni at Silph Co. then, while you're busy saving the world, him and his band of cheerleaders (not shown in the game of course) beat the entire Elite Four before you even get there, preventing you from fighting whatever badass was Champion before him.

then you finally get to whoop his sorry team for good.

The final fight in The Elder Scrolls IV was pretty epic, and a lot of fun. I don't remembe rhis name but the big red dude was really badass! And the way he dies was cool too, it was also pretty tough on max difficulty

Gygas from Earthbound. He was just creepy and really did sound crazy. And it was very cool how you ultimately had to defeat him.

Zophar from Lunar 2. Another very difficult boss that had me stressed. It was so satisfying when I finally won.

Ganon from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time. He was just scary and very awesome.

Pandora from Revelations: Persona, it had technicolor backgrounds, attacks that gave all my party members random status effects and a boss that would shift between forms each with a different weakness. I was pretty happy when I made it out of that one alive.

Inuyasha Secret of the cursed mask: even thought it was obvious who the final boss was gonna be i still end up getting killed alot due to my underleveledness grinded for about a day before i could take the guy on x_x

Megaman X8: ok i did not see that boss comming and it was pretty hard for me to beat good thing i had the ultimate armor at the time and all healing items(i think they are chips?) without them iw ould have been screwed

.Hack//G.U Vol 1 -3 i will admit the final bosses on the 3 disks drove me to the edge they made sure you were gonna have a good long fight with the final boss on all 3 disks Tri-Edge would easily kill you if you didnt have good enough equipment, Ovan will epicly own your party if not a high enough level and if you dont have a healer with you and Cubia will take you awhile due to all that hp and defence

GLados
from Portal - You fight as she tires tp pump neurotoxic posion in the air. You have 5 minuts before death. Hello incineratore.

Lazaravich
- Uncharted 2, among theives. Great boss. pain in the ass even on normal. Going to dread him on hard mode.

I have more. :D

Metroid Prime-Metroid Prime. < Does that make any sense at all?
I just thought the whole fight was awesome, especially the fact you have to use specific weapons and the game is named after it..

Earthbound- Giygas.
This guy is probably the most disturbing boss I've ever seen. He looks like something straight from hell.
Scariest Moment: When Giygas says, "I...am.......h....a......p....p....y........"
I never played the game, but I still sing "8 melodies" at night just to be safe....

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: Even though all 4 of the parts were really good, I found myself enjoying
the one on one duel against Ganondorf the most.

Super Mario World: The first battle again Bowser that has ever left me clueless as to what to do, I was stuck on this one for a while,

Persona 3:
The final battle against Nyx Avatar. What is there not to like about this boss? The boss looks cool, the battle is difficult provided you're not overleveled, the battle is long, and the final battle music is really awesome.

Necron

I just finished Final Fantasy IX yesterday..............and I gotta say the last boss was the hardest I ever faced.............I don't think my characters were under-levelled.........because I found it easy to kill the previous bosses........But Necron took the piss I fighted it like 20 times..........I was determined NOT to level up (Don't ask me why).............But everytime I lost I had to fight Trance Kuja again as well (because you can't save it before the fight against Necron)..........But he wasn't that difficult and so weren't the other previous bosses.

Aside from agreeing with DarkShadow, (
Necron
took me... just short of forever)
I'm adding to this list: Most anything on the second disk of StarOcean: Till the End of Time. And, most of the bosses in Shin Megami Tensei : Digital Devil Saga. I say this without listing a final boss, because I get so stuck, I haven't beaten either game.

hmmmm hard one, let's see...

Suikoden Teirkreis, pretty hard actually, first forme One King was ok. Second forme was not so ok... Stupid all-damage move + my frail heroes. Still, Ending anime (All scenes are anime-like) scene was pretty darn awesome and deserved.
