Double Cast, Mug, Lancet, Copycat... they're all FFX abilities we're familiar with and we can probably relate one character to more than any other. However, they're not the "final" ability of any character's sphere grid. Personally, I find it interesting that each character has one final ability that is specific to them. An ability that was chosen to represent all that they are. I will list each character's final ability below... tell me what you think Square-Enix meant to each to represent for their respective characters.

Tidus - Quick Hit
Wakka - Triple Foul
Auron - Entrust
Kimahri - Scan
Lulu - Flare
Yuna - Holy
Rikku - Bribe

Lulu & Yua easy, whit emage/black mage

Entrust for auron, i guess signifies him being uber guardian or summat

Tidus, well he was fast, agile whatever, so that suits him

Not sure what to make of wakkas or khimaris

Wakka Id assume was like a ranged fighter, so Im not sure how they could work with that so they gave him.....that?

Khimaris is just...lame, I mena SCAN? Summat to do with analysing monsters, having some kind of.......affinity with them? what with his lancet an' shit

If I'm understanding you correctly, I believe these (as with most of their abilities) reflect the 'class' nature of each character.

Tidus - Quick Hit - Speedy. Tidus didn't hit quite as hard as some other characters, but he got a lot of turns in which in itself could be used strategically. Not to mention he could always throw in some support with items. Quick Hit took this to the extreme.

Wakka - Triple Foul - Our ranged fighter, not hitting extremely hard, employed status effects and took advantage of elements in order to keep up. Triple Foul embodies this perfectly.

Auron - Entrust - I actually don't get this one. Auron did have some support-type abilities and the standard tank abilities, but this one doesn't really mesh for me.

Kimarhi - Scan - Blue mage-type ability for a blue mage-type character.

Lulu - Flare - Black mage gets black magic.

Yuna - Holy - White Mage gets standard white mage offensive.

Rikku - Bribe - Rikku was a typical thief, so this seemed fitting.

I agree with all of them except Kimahri's.

Scan is the first ability, bar Lancet, he is able to obtain in the game and it only costs him 1MP to use. I do not see that as his Final Ability for some reason, but maybe it's because he's a Blue Mage and is mainly focused on his abilities learned from fiends instead of the Sphere Grid that the game keyed in on.

See I'd have to disagree with all of you.

I can acknowledge that Tidus's quick hit is a reference to his agility as an athlete and warrior. However, it's not just that he's speedy or athletic. It also represents his personality. He is impetuous, makes snap decisions, and knows immediately how he feels about a situation. He's not just quick physically, it represents him as a whole.

Auron's Entrust is another one that represents him perfectly. He constantly reminds Tidus that it is "your" story and that Tidus reminds him of himself at a young age. He failed to stop Spira's never ending spiral of death so he entrusts its future to Tidus. It's not just a convenient name for an ability, it represents Auron in every aspect.

Now that I've given you some deeper thought on stuff you dorks just nonchalantly answered and quickly discharged, maybe you should try putting some more thought into this question because there's actually some truth and depth to my point. And out of all the white and black magic spells, why would they assign those two particular ones as their final ability? Why is Full Life not Yuna's? Why is Meteor not Lulu's? Use your minds and imaginations... don't just answer for postcount.

Interesting observation again, and a pretty thorny reply haha. I'll try to not post for post-counts only.

Tidus - Perfect as u summed up. Both character-wise and also his ability-wise.

Auron - Entrust. Throughout the game, Auron's always the one whom almost everyone looked up to. Cause he had the experience(with Braska) and seemingly the one who dispenses the most sound advice. More of like a very reliable figure. That's why I choose to interpret entrust in this case, to how the Guardians and Yuna herself look at Auron, how they entrust some parts(No matter big or small) of their problems on him.

Wakka - I think Triple Foul is less representative about Wakka's character than his in-game fighting abilities. The overdrive with 3 reels, inflicting status effects on enemies. I don't see a lot of connection with his character as a whole.

Kimahri - Scan is interesting. Kimahri, I believe, alongside with Auron are 2 of the most quiet members of the group. As a Ronso, much a shamed one(the horn), he's a very observant character always choosing to give support more than taking charge. Scan as his final ability sums up Kimahri as a person(Or Ronso), one who observes, figures, and tried to understand someone thoroughly through his/her actions.

Lulu - Other than the obvious black magic connection, Flare as opposed to Meteor or Ultima is the final ability, to me, is cause of how fiery Lulu's character is. Not that in-your-face anger, but more of the mellow, building rage that starts to consume her enemies before she lays down the final blow, ala a blast of flare. Ultima is too flashy for Lulu's character, and Meteor is just too plain. Flare IMO sums up Lulu's abilities.

Yuna - Holy is the only white magic that deals direct physical damage to enemies. It is apt for Yuna. All along in X she's played the supporting white mage role, protected by her guardians, shielding her from danger. All the way until Zanarkand, where she knew the truth about the final Aeon, and promptly chose her own fate and not compromising. That point Yuna was able to make choices, and Holy IMO represents the ability to finally not only support, but participate and in fact defeat her own inner demons.

Rikku - This one for me is purely just technical abilities.

Scan? xlolx
Scan was one the first abilitys I got for Khimari. :monster:
Since Khimari didn't really have his own path sorta thing on the grid, his last ability depends on what path you took him too. :monster:
Tidus: Quick Hit
Wakka: Triple Foul
Lulu: Doublecast/Flare
Rikku: Copycat
Auron: FullBreak, where he did every break on a npc. :gasp:
Yuna: Holy

Wakka - I can see a Blitzball connection here... Like Wakka getting a tad too rough in a Blitzball game and fouling somebody, or someone doing that to him. Anyway I think it represents the game Blitzball, the ball from which he carries.

Tidus - I think you pretty much summed up. He is speedy and athletic physically, and in personality. It could also reflect how fast and short his life on Spira was after being transported there, but left a big impact. He was a "quick hit" with the people.

Kimahri - Perhaps it is to do with him always watching Yuna's back. He scans the environment and monsters to constantly be ready to fight them off and save Yuna. Seems a bit of an odd final ability, but perhaps thats what it was symbolising. While the other guardians pretty much stood around Yuna and would fight when an ugly monster showed its face, I see Kimahri as more the type that would sense the presence of a monster beforehand, scan the monster to know the level of threat, then warn the others and fight it. He's a bit more alert than the other characters, keeping with his animal instincts etc.

Auron - like has been said is to do with him placing the story on Tidus at the begining of the game. He was the one who entrusted Tidus with the task of guarding Yuna, even if he didn't tell him directly.

Lulu - I think, like said, Flare symbolises built up rage and emotion. Meteor is a bit too explicit, but Flare symbolises anger more. Flare as in sudden burst of temper, as well as in magic.

Yuna - Holy symbolises the purest of the pure hearted. Yuna is this games white princess, pure beyond all corruption. Her aim is to make Spira happy and safe, even if it costs her her own life. Holy has always been connected with this type of character (e.g Aerith).

Rikku - Despite how much I loved Rikku in the game, I can't think of why she would have bribe. I guess because she is a thief and everything, perhaps it symbolises her outgoing attitude to life. She could easily bribe her way through life I think in order to get what she wants. Though other than that I don't really know. Perhaps its also to do with her always standing her ground for what she believed in, and in a sense bribing some o the other party members to see things the same way, mostly through Tidus, and then the others following him with persuasion.
Been a long time since I played FFX though, so this is just all memory on how Rikku acted.
