Okay I was just wondering what payment method you use on ebay for those of you who use ebay.

I'm trying to decide between Direct Deposit and Paypal.

I would just like to hear some feedback from those of you who have used ebay before and find out whether you had any problems with any of ebays payment methods?

I almost always deposit the money into their bank account directly. This is mainly because I am paranoid about using credit cards online. I've only used paypal once and that was because I didn't have the option to make a direct deposit. I found Paypal convenient and easy to use, but I still don't like the idea of using a credit card online.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was just speaking to my dad and he said the same thing about entering credit card details over the internet.

I just bought my first ever item off of Ebay (FINAL FANTASY VII) and I think that 'Direct Deposit' is definitely the way to go from now on.

There is the risk that you don't end up receiving the item and that there is no buyer protection available. However, there is an even greater risk if someone gets a hold of your credit card details.

Feedback on your own Ebay experiences is still encouraged people!

I use Paypal, I've looked it up and it's very very secure. And, my parents have their card insured, so if someone online does steal their details, they aren't in any danger cause of that insurance.

I think it's all personal preference though, but I've found using paypal was far more convienient. Although, I've barely gone past ebay virgin, really :awesome:

You actually don't have to use a credit card to use Paypal, just make sure you have a bank account. You pay directly out of your paypal if you have a balance OR you can pay with an e-check. Typically I always keep money in my Paypal, so I use Paypal when I shop on ebay. More more easy and convenient.

Always use Paypal. xD

It's very fast and safe. Like Mandi (Shiva) said, you don't need a credit card. You just need to link your bank account to your Paypal account. I never used deposit, so I don't really know how that works. :P

PayPal can be trusted. You give THEM your information and you won't have to use your bank account or card anywhere else. The buy protection is a godsend that actually helped me out when some ass tried to rip me off.

I use paypal, it still comes directly out of my account anyway, but Im covered by pay pal for any fraud or whatever, it's easy to open a dispute with a seller through pay pal.

I use Paypal as well. As people said, a lot more convenient and safer. I've used Paypal for over 4 years now and I've never had any problems. I shop at ebay a lot and deposit money to my mom's bank account in the Philippines every month using Paypal. I get paranoid just entering my bank account on a random site at first, so that's where Paypal comes in. The site gives me an option to use Paypal and therefore, no need to enter any card information - just my e-mail address. Transaction goes through as simple as 1,2,3.

Paypal is the safest option for eBay imo. I've never had any problems using it. Plus most sellers only accept payment through Paypal.

I understand paypal being safer that you don't give out credit card numbers, but do you have to pay for insurance on paypal in the case that the seller doesn't send what you buy? Or is that an issue paypal doesn't handle in the first place?

I kind of want to give ebay a try, and even my mom just bought her first ever ebay item, but the payment is different; she'll "pay cash on receipt" from the UPS person that'll deliver the item apparently o_O

the only input I have is that my father always uses PayPal since.. forever. no problems so far.

My Mom always uses Paypal, and a lot of the sellers usually accept that as the only way to pay. No problems at all. If there was anything worng, Mom would have stopped using it.
