Ultima Wepaon was a bitch lol. That was really the only major challenging thing I faced on there. As its been mentioned, the monsters level up with you, so it kinda works out how much leveling you have done. Not saying every monster has a couple of HP on it just cause you have lol. But its was a tough ride with UW, but apart from that, it was okay for me lol.

I breezed through FFVIII once I knew what I was doing, and spent the time to junction the best magic and GFs to the characters.

It's an easy game, if you know what you're doing. If you have no idea, you're screwed.

I agree that once you know what you're doing, the game is really pretty easy. I breezed through it as well. I don't think that the monsters leveling up with you made the game any more difficult either. I say the hardest part of the game is staying awake during disk 2.

I found parts of the game challenging, like the fight against Omega, but the fact that the bosses and regular monsters levelled-out to suit your own personal level of strength weakened the challenge of the game considerably and was sort of patronising. Overall, it was too easy, especially compared to the earlier FF games.

It was a bit hard in the beginning knowing nothing of how the junction thing works but now its pretty easy. As far as the last boss goes, she too was extremely hard until i came up with a strategy to defeat her. haha.

On the first playthrough, it's actually pretty hard, but after that, it's probably the easiest FF game in the series.

Within 2 hours of hitting "New Game" you can make Squall and Quistis stupidly overpowered compared to the enemies in that area (I-Mag RF + Fish Fin from Fastitocalon-Fs > 20 Waters each). Junctioning 100 Waters to any stat makes a hell of a difference, and knowing little tricks like this, and knowing how to exploit the junction system is what makes FFVIII so easy on subsequent replays.

FFVIII wasn't too hard. I actually found FFX to be harder. FFVIII can get annoying, though (especially the bosses). As for Ultimecia, she was slightly more annoying than Sephiroth, in my opinion. 'Course, she was nothing compared to Omega Weapon. Now THAT was hard.
