E3 2012 Discussion Thread

Well after seeing the 3 big boys I have to say... ALL ARE TERRIBLE!!!

Only good things to come from Nintendo... Pikman 3... and Luigi Mansion 2 (which we saw last year)

Reggie talked WAYYY TOO MUCH!!!

really showing off the Wii-U I don't see the big deal of it... You need the TV for the tablet for lots of games. So it isn't like you turn the tv off and play on the tablet for lots of games.

and as far as 3DS is concern... They didn't even want it on there... Seems like they gave up on it already.

So my opinion it goes Sony, Nintendo, then Microsoft.

The 3DS gets its own event tomorrow because with all of the Wii U things being announced they didn't have time to showcase all of the new 3DS games. If you were paying attention to the guy explaining it you would know that. They're not trying to get rid of it, they just need a separate show for it. The Wii U tablet isn't just made to play games off the screen, so it seems to me you're misunderstanding a whole lot of what they were saying ;)

I personally am looking forward to the 3DS show tomorrow and, aside from Nintendoland (which isn't as bad as wonderbooks), Nintendo won E3 for me. It's also nice to see Nintendo getting a lot more third party support, seeing as most games were only on the PS3 and 360. Reggie's body was ready, and that made the show for me. I'll be buying New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Paper Mario most likely on launch day, and I'm waiting to see the launch titles for the Wii U before making that decision.

Can someone buy me a swish new PC, please. I'm thinking of becoming a full PC gamer at this rate this is going.

Fantastic conference, Nintendo. Here, have some bananas:

And by "fantastic", I mean dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. Nintendo have managed to put on a worse conference than its competitors, which - owing to the fact that they were both bad - is an astonishing feat.

It's good for the Pikmin and Mario fans, but I'm not one of them, so they hardly register for me. Wii Fit U - ohhhh, wow. Reggie, I take it your body was ready again for this? I mean, you can't get any readier than the first Wii Fit. Luigi's Mansion 2 hardly makes me flinch with any anticipation. Nintendo Land? So out of the things you wish to borrow/take from Sony, you go for Home and do your own version of it? The sheer horrified response to it from the crowd and the very subdued applause for it pretty much says it all.

Third party support, let's see: Ah, Scribblenauts. Truly this will have the core gamers squealing in delight! Mass Effect 3. Okay, firstly, wouldn't the people who want to play Mass Effect 3 have the game by now, and secondly, the people who will probably wouldn't have played the preceding games. Why would they really care for the franchise at this point then? Batman, I have nothing more to say, considering like Mass Effect 3, I'm pretty sure people have bought it for the PC, PS3 and 360 by now. Plus by the time the Wii U hits the shelves, Batman would be thoroughly over a year old I reckon. And of course, there will be Assassin's Creed 3. Truly a unique Wii U experience I am sure!

Good work, Nintendo. You've managed to half-kill off the Wii U before it's even properly announced for the store shelves! In fact, you've managed to resolutely put me off the console at launch - even more than I was to begin with. Good going!

Microsoft conference: D-
EA conference: Don't know, don't care
Ubisoft conference: B+
Sony conference: C-
Nintendo conference: F+

EDIT: I think this sums up Nintendo's conference today nicely:
