Dungeon Crawlers

*Manus slowly regained consciousness, his head pounding, beating, swimming. He could not recall where he was or how he had gotten there. Indeed he could not even make out the room he was in. His eyes would not stay focused and he viewed the world with blurred vision.

He heard yells of panic, and felt the floor cringe and shake beneath him. As the sounds and thoughts in his head slowed, he began to try and establish what was going on. Before his head had cleared completely he heard a woman's voice deep within his mind:

"Manus, I love you..."

He did not know who's voice carried the message. It was the voice of a younger woman, but that was all that Manus could discern.

Manus tried to lift his head from the floor, but found his strength lacking. His mind finally cleared he began to take inventory of the events that surrounded him.

He noticed the wounded dragon, and Julius standing in front of Shen as though he was trying to guard her.*

:What's happening? Damn this magic. I will control you one day... you will not control me forever!:

*Manus attempted once more to lift his head from the ground. This time he was able to lift it off an inch or two, but his muscles failed almost immediately. He slowly moved his arm, attempting to reach into his robes. He grabbed a vial and pulled it out, lifting it towards his face. He used his lost ounce of real strength and pulled the cork from the vial and dumped the contents in his mouth, swallowing it all.*

:I hope the potion will have time to take effect before that dragon...:

*He forced the thought from his head.*

:I will not perish on this night:

*Manus spoke once more in the voice of magic, though it did not come through as powerfully as it had before. In fact, it came out as little more than a whisper fore it was a word of healing, and thankfully the magi who had created the spell knew enough to realize that one who might need to invoke a spell of healing may not have the strength to speak the work with their true magical self.*

'Iasthai!'

*Manus felt the potion suddenly coursing through his entire body. Indeed the potion would have worked without a spell of healing, but that would have taken time, and time did not appear to be a luxury that Manus, nor his companions seemed to carry with them at this moment.

Although it would still take a few hours before Manus would be returned to normal again, he had enough strength to stand at this point. However, he considered the situation at hand and thought it best that he not reveal his newfound strength or abilities. After all, there is very little an apprentice mage could do against a dragon, even a small one. Dragons are well known to hold the secrets of old magic, and old magic is well known to be the most powerful magic in existence, even if it was crude.

Manus was glad that no one had noticed his movement, and also that his cloak still maintained the ability to hide his face. This meant that he could be watchful of the battle, and yet not be seen awake. This way he could lend aid to his companions if he was able, but did not risk endangering himself meaninglessly.*

:Surely there must be something I can do to help...? Damn this frail body... damn my limitations! I cannot risk distracting them with no way to aid them. I suppose I have no choice but to lie here helpless.:

seeing how weak Manus looked, Arthvader headed towards him.

Arthvader : "Phoenix, come here. Heal him."

As the phoenix began to heal Manus, Arthvader went back at the dragon. As he headed towards the dragon, the dragon sent shockwaves at the group.

Arthvader : "What in the... AHHH!"

The shockwaves blasted Arthvader with tremendous force, more than enough to send him to the sky. The dragon then spew fire at him. unable to dodge in the air, Arthvader got massively damaged by the dragon's flames.

Arthvader : "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I'm on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Screaming in pain, Arthvader falls down hard on the floor, breaking at least a rib or two.

Arthvader : "I need to treat myself now. RESTA!!!"

With his magic level at average, Arthvader managed to return to normal.

Arthvader : "First frozen, then blasted to the sky, then got burned. Dragon, you've just messed with the wrong guy today, because I'm going to finish you personally."

darkswordprince charges toward the dragon while unshealthing his swords, the dragon sees darkswordprince and tailwhips darkswordprince into the wall. darkswordprince gets up after being tailwhiped.

darkswordprince: so you like to use your tail, well lets fix that. your tail belongs to me too.

darkswordprince charges toward the again but this he's ready, the dragon uses tailwhip again darkswordprince jumps and turns towards the tail with both of his swords, choping off the tail of the dragon. the dragon roared in pain after geting his tail chop off after landing darkswordprince jumps back 10ft from the dragon.darkswordprince shealthes his right handed sword, and puts his right hand towards the dragon.

darkswordprince: now its time too show you how weak you really are..........*mutters*ne vio kono dovo(name of move is shadow ball)

from the right hand of darkswordprince his frinds can see blackball of light emitting from his hand (the ball is the size of the dragon's fireball attack) the dragon sees the black ball and shoots his onw fireball towards darkswordprince, darkswordprince shoots his shadowball towards the dragon. both balls meet in the middle and destorys each other, darkswordprince drops to his knees.

darkswordprince: damn used too much energy. (i can't believe that dragon is this strong, too have enough power too stop swadowball).

(...into the air? Thought we were underground? XD)

Shen and Julius were knocked back by the dragon's shock wave. Pushing herself to her feet again, Shen kept a good grip on her twin swords as she charged forth again. Once she was near enough, she tried stabbing one of her swords up under the scales. The dragon screeched in pain an dived its head down towards her, threatening to swallow her in a single gulp. Shen rolled away and gave the head a good kick as she did so.

The dragon spread its wings as far out as the room would allow it, sending a harsh wave of wind out at them. It wasn't anywhere near strong enough to send them flying back again, it just slowed down whomever was running towards them. Its deep throat glowed again as it spewed out more fire at the group.

(i mean the roof, not the sky. My bad.)

Arthvader : "You've done enough DSP. let me handle it from here."

While his phoenix is healing Manus, Arthvader charges right at the dragon.

Arthvader : "Your time ends now, dragon. Now, meet your maker."

Arthvader sheathed his swords while dodging all of the dragon's attacks. one he got in front of the dragon, he quickly chanted a spell.

Arthvader : "Since you're the only monster here, let me end this quickly. I cast upon thee a spell of GRANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And with that, A beam of light came from the sky and burned the dragon, seriously damaging the creature.

Arthvader : "That's what you get for messing with me. Woah, I suddenly feel drained. better rest up."

Arthvader decided to cast a barrier around him to heal himself.

Julius was knocked off his feet by the powerful shockwave and quickly retook his sword and stood besides Shen. Trying to develop a strategy as soon as possible, Julius suddenly noticed an old shield lying on the ground. He quickly rolled away from the dragon's attack and picked the shield.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

The dragon who was preparing to spew out more fire suddenly noticed Julius' movements. The dragon then quickly turned his head to face Julius and launched a devastating fire blast attempting to instantly incinerate Julius.

Julius: “Here it goes!!”

Julius then put the shield before him and blocked the flames with it. The dragon continued to breath fire against Julius and Julius kept walking until he could get close enough to unsheathe his sword and attack the dragon.

Finally after getting at close range of the dragon’s head, Julius unsheathed his blade, moved the shield from left to right hitting the dragon with it and then slashed through the dragon’s neck.

Believing that the strike would kill the dragon Julius dropped the shield and fell on his knees to rest. Unexpectedly, the dragon was not slain and instead it dashed towards Julius head on trying to pierce Julius with its horns.

Julius noticed turned around surprised and he remained there staring while the dragon kept rushing against him. Too weak to make a movement, Julius took the shield and tried to endure the attack hoping to survive.

Julius: “ARGH!!!!!!!!!! COME YOU FOULED BEAST TO YOUR DEATH!!!”

Shen managed to move away from the dragon as the white light hit it. Even though Julius' attack did quite some damage, Shen was surprised that it was still alive and thrashing about. As it heaved another breath of flames at Julius, Shen ran forth again with her swords ready. If she can get get close enough, maybe a strike at the heart would be able to down the beast.

Just as Shen was within striking range, the dragon's remaining clawed limb hurtled down towards her, sweeping Shen off her feet and pushing her a good ten feet away. She got back up to her feet and scowled at the giant lizard.

Since Shen was further away, she decided to try and divert the dragon's attention towards her. After all, Shen had two weapons in her hand; may as well be rid of one of them. She wound up her right arm and threw her sword at the dragon's head. It gave the dragon a good gash across the muzzle, but it didn't do a lot of damage.

Arthvader : "Ok, this should do for now."

Feeling better after casting GRANTS, Arthvader prepares another spell that he has been saving for an emergency. He walked towards Shen to explain to her the plan he has.

Arthvader : "Hey, shen, I'm going to end the dragon's life with this spell i've been saving up for now. If I can't finish this dragon off. call for my phoenix, as he is healing Manus, and have him carry me away from here, as if this spell fails, I'm probably gonna be killed at that point. you got it?"

He then charged towards the dragon. as he dodges all of the dragon's attacks, Arthvader got in front of the dragon again.

Arthvader : "You might have survived all the attacks my partners and I have inflicted on you, but now it is time i finish this. I cast a spell even worse than death on you. MEGID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

A dark ball encircled the powerful dragon. Powerful as it seems, the dragon started to degenerate under the force of the spell Arthvader casted on him. Eventually, the dragon vanished into nothingness.

Arthvader : "Finally, he done for. Now we could go for the t..re..as..u...r....e......"

He then collasped due to using too much force for the spell he casted.

darkswordprince gets up slowly in a weakened state, looks over to shen and starts to walk over where she's at.

darkswordprince: i'm leaving to rest for awhile, i need to recover lost strength. potions won't heal the energy that i lost but sleep will.

Shen gave DSP a nod at his self-dismissal.

"Just be careful on your way out," she warned. "Kentaro might be waiting to pounce us. If you're the first out, he'll probably jump you first."

Shenorai returned to her pack and crouched down to retrieve it. As she stood back up, she felt a stinging pain erupt from her side, making her clutch it and see what had caused the pain. Apparently when she was knocked aside earlier, that dragon gave her a good scratch along the way.

Rather difficult to go through these battles unscathed, isn't it? that voice in her head told her.

Shen just gave a sigh, as though agreeing with the ghost though she didn't like the question. Then again, Shen knew that well enough. Since she brought up that point...

Looking around at her companions, Shen called out, "Everyone all right?"

Tired from using Megid, Arthvader struggles to get up.

Arthvader : "I can't believe that worked, for once. I can barely move, being so worn out from the battle. I'm fine anyways. Now, come phoenix, heal my wounds."

Knowing that it healed Manus fully, the phoenix flew towards Arthvader and started healing his wounds.

darkswordprince nods back at shenorai and starts walking toward entrance of the cave. after awhile darkswordprince makes it out the cave and see's kentaro waiting for someone to fight.

darkswordprince: i do not wish to fight for i'm too weak at the moment, maybe some other time........... when i'm fullt healed

darkswordprince starts walking toward the town while keeping an eye on kentaro

((Ok, I have to catch up with all of you guys...))

As the last remnants of the fire that was consuming the dragon slowly disappeared, Julius emerged from within the dense cloud of dust that was lifted. Still being aware that Kentaro was nearby, Julius kept his sword unsheathed and walked slowly towards the exit expecting Kentaro to attack at any moment. This time Julius will make sure not being caugth of guard by his opponent.

Julius was stranged though, nothing of this made sense. The dragon, Gilgamesh, Kentaro's Presence, everything seemed to have been set in order to lead all of them to this point.

Julius: "This is far too strange...the group of monsters at the entrance of the cave, Gilgamesh, Kentaro's appearance, the dragon, the ambush.....everything seemed to have been set step by step in order to fulfil a higher purpose. Still it doesn't make sense....why? why would someone try to manipulate our actions? for what reason?......"

Julius continued wandering through the cave until he could see a small glimer of laigh coming from the far end of the corridor.

Julius: "Finally....the exit....."

((Eh, if you're conscious and able to move by this post, tell me and I'll alter it.))

Shenorai ended up lifting an arm over her shoulder and dragging Manus along, the amulet now safe in her pack. She was lagging behind do to his weight, but that was nothing unexpected. Assuming Julius was thinking aloud, she responded anyway.

"My guess would be either this is lamia territory or they were just attracted to the ruins somehow." She grunted a bit as she shifted Manus's weight on her shoulder a bit. "Not that I'm certain about that, though."

A pebble rolled and clattered up the path as Shen kicked it along. She was pretty relieved to see the exit. Though she highly doubted it, maybe they could get a bit of peace once they get back to town.

Julius smirked after hearing Shenorai's explaination. Sure the being intruders in the lamia's territory was something, but the presence of both Gilgamesh and Kentaro was something really unexpected. After finally leaving the cave, the rays of the sun that reached Julius' eyes through the trees and the coldness in the air showed that it was early in the moorning, it seems that Julius and the rest of the team spent all the night fighting inside that cave.

After opening his eyes and trying to locate Kentaro, Julius soon realized he completly lost Kentaro's trace. Sighing with a faint expression of desception on his face, Julius closed his eyes and sheathed his sword.

Soon he moved his long red cape behind him with his right arm lifting a faint cloud of dust. Soon his turned his face at Shenorai and stared at Manus who seemed to be unconscious.

Julius knew that Shen would be unable to fight while taking care of Manus, so he decided to unsheath his sword and lead the way until either Manus regain consciousness or if they reached the town.

~+~Julius~+~
"Shenorai, let's go. I say that the town shouldn't be too far away from here. I left my horse nearby so we can use it to carry Manus while you lead the horse. As for myself I'll keep my guard and lead the way if we are attacked by any chance."

Arthvader: "I help out too. Pheonix, heal him as we go"

With the group out of the cave, Arthvader decided to have his phoenix heal Manus and to unsheathed his dual swords. Remembering the last words Gilgamesh said to him before he vanished, Arthvader explained to Julius the situation.

Arthvader : "Julius, I'm going to let you know now Julius, Gilgamesh is not really dead and he'll probably attack us from out of nowhere. So, we better be on our guard."

"Not a bad idea," she replied, nodding in approval. "Lead the way, Julius."

It was rather refreshing to come out into the open morning air. The dew kissed the grass at their feet and made their boots wet as they treaded across it. There was a thin mist drifting around them, giving the nearby trees eerie silhouettes. With the corpses of the lamias and goblins aside, it was actually a pretty nice morning.

As Shenorai practically dragged Manus along, she was listening in on Arthvader's explanation to Julius. Her shoulder was beginning to tire and the wound in her side wasn't helping much, either. Not that she complained about it; she prefers keeping her wounds to herself unless they were critical. Shen wasn't too fond of having too much attention and only made herself heard when she believed her thoughts would be important.

"Speaking of which, what the hell was Gilgamesh doing in these parts anyway?" Shen asked Arthvader, since he was the apparent target.

Arthvader explained to shen about the situation with gilgamesh.

Arthvader : "At the cave that we just left, Gilgamesh was looking for a legendary sword he thought would be there. I apparently saw him and he decided to challenge me for my swords. I accepted his challenge and the fight was furious. At one point of the battle, i decided to sheathed my weapons and went on a berserk fury on him so much that i blasted him all the way to where Julius and DSP was, but he was still fine. the next thing surprised me. He decided to take out some of his legendary swords to battle me. I was barely able to withstand his attacks, but then he decided to strike Julius in the back. If I wasn't able to take the attack, He would have been dead. After That blow, I thought I was going to die at that point. I was lucky enough to have the potion manus gave me back at the inn and drank it to regain all of my strength. Then i saw him trying to strike down DSP next, but I managed to stop the attack completely and I showed Gilgamesh what happens to those who tried to take down my allies. I used my ultimate attack to practically destroy him and the statue that Julius and DSP were fighting. He then told me that he'll return to get his revenge on me. He then vanished laughing. So, that's what happened. Now, you see that gunblade Julius has. That was one of the weapons that Gilgamesh used against me. I noticed Julius picking up the weapon after Gilgamesh vanished. So, now, you know the situation."

Julius pulled out the gunblade he obtained quite recently while sheathing the sword he was currently using. The gunblade, which was apparently quite sharp even after years of usage, was beatifully crafted and had chained attached to the end of the hilt of the weapon. The Emblem attached to the chain was a lion, similar to the necklace Julius was wearing.

Julius swung the sword from left to right and up down grinning, it seems that he was satisfied with such a marvelous piece of weaponry. He then kept walking while wielding the gunblade with his right hand. After listening to Arthvader's explaination, Julius was aware of something; now that he had the gunblade he would be most likely to become another one of Gilgamesh's targets.

Julius:
"It seems that we have a common enemy Arthvader. Gilgamesh will hunt both of us to obtain our weapons. His blades have tasted my blood and I am certain that he wants more. I say let him come! We shall face him in battle and we will not turn back. Lady Eterna, are you alright? You must be quite exhausted after such a long journey. The sun will soon set and we shouldn't travel during the blackness of the night. Would you like to rest here? I shall stay awake and keep watch while you and Manus have some rest."

"I'm fine," she lied, leading the steed which Manus sat upon. "Besides, the town is only a couple miles off, now. The darkness is nothing to fear."

A good quarter-mile away, the chilling howl of a wolf echoed between the trees. The canine was greeting the moon as she climbed slowly above the horizon, taking the sun's place in the sky as it faded to her realm of the night. Shen gave a slight shudder as a few other howls, maybe a mile apart from each other, joined into a chorus to the moon.

"...we should fear what lurks in the darkness," she mumbled.
