I've been wanting to get into GFX for a while now and every time I try I always lose motivation or what I make looks terrible. But I followed a tutorial and actually made something I myself am somewhat proud of :lew: Thoughts?

That's really good for one of your first tries!

It really could have used some text to finish it off and maybe a border but it's still really well done :D

Nice work.

Really? :gasp: I thought it was at least mediocre. I hate reading through tutorials because there's always one part they say wrong that will mess the entire thing up and I always end up quitting. But I fiddled with this one a bit till I got it how I liked it. Just need to find a good font :hmmm:

Toni: I didn't know what font to use and the border is black :P I have a white one right here:

EDIT: Found a good text for it. Might make it smaller. But for now it's good :3

Also using as my sig

And finally the avatar to go with it:

Made this with a friend's tutorial a few months back. First thing I actually did before I stopped. And not sure what's up with dropbox not showing my images right now :hmmm: Oh well.

And this is what I tried making after that.

sTZdc.png

I liked how the background turned out...sorta. The image doesn't blend at all and I didn't know how to make it blend :P On top of that I was messing with some C4Ds so you can see that in there. Too much glow on the text and the text doesn't look good on it. So it has problems :yay:

To make a image blend in, you need to use gradient coloring. And you also gotta use some layering options, like overlay and screen, which are the two most used frequent layer styles I use.

But your first piece was an overall great one.

Here's what I'm currently working on with a clipping mask tutorial (different render than the tutorial of course):

Lloyd%20Irving%20Sig.png

Although the render has part of Lloyd's arm cut off and I didn't want to make the sig too square just to make up for that :hmmm: Any tips on how to make his arm blend in so you can't notice that?

Okay nearly final product, just need to add text and maybe make a few changes. Otherwise I think it looks alright.

Lloyd%20Irving%20Sig%20%282%29.png

C&C? I tried using the eraser tool to soften up the part of his arm that was cut off. Looks meh, but I don't know any other ways of doing it. Hope you guys don't mind me double posting in here, editing doesn't bump the thread so people can see what I've done >_< I also might remove the sharpen effect completely. Kind of makes parts of it look weird...

EDIT: Decided to try putting the text on the sword. Might look for a better way to do it, but it looks alright for now.

EDIT AGAIN:

Lloyd%20Irving%20Sig%20%285%29.png

Went over some areas that were too sharp with a low opacity eraser so it looks better.

Fixed text.

Black border.

Lloyd%20Irving%20Sig%20light%20border.png

Low opacity white border. Might make it a tad more visible.

Tried the same thing I did with the previous sig to see how it would look with a different render. It's meh. Text is the font from Mega Man 2 but it's subject to change. Might look for some different splatter brushes so everything doesn't look too much the same. Any constructive criticism would be appreciated so I'm not just talking to myself in here :D

Two new ones I did this morning:

Cable%20sig.png

Master%20Chief%20thing.png

Working on smudging as I am terrible at it. Just went with the renders that the tutorial used so I can learn from it rather than screw up on my own. I might try the Cable one with a different render, though.

Seiji: Thanks :D

Actually none of them xP My current one was using Alex's Half-Life tutorial with a few modifications to suit my render and make it look better. I never follow the tutorials completely, though. Some steps the person who made it can use to look good, but when I do it, it either looks bad, or would look better without.

Although, I'm currently making a sig without use of a tutorial, but from what I've gotten from the tutorials :D I'll post it when I finish it.

Master%20Chief%20thing.png

I reeeaaally like this one. The light fading and just everything about it is just good. I always like where you place your name XD

Thanks :D My favorite part about that one just so happens to be where I put the text :P

Spaceassin%27s%20Creed%20sig.png

Meh. Tried to do sort of the same thing as the last one with a different C4D. Must look for a new font :gasp:

Changed font and messed around with the gradients more. Still is meh. I like the last one better.

OKAY. Fixed it up, changed the C4D layer styles, and added in a High Mass effect to make the assassin pop out. NOW IT LOOKS GREAT.

And on top of that, I cut out that render myself a few days ago. Took me over an hour and I was all jittery from trying to be precise.
