Ah, yes. Another one of those easy post threads. But in this one you are helping all of the indecisive, lonely netflickers and video store goers figure out which movies they should watch. There are many threads similar to this one, but this one is the best among them. So don't be a cunt. Recommend a movie. Also tell us why it's good, who would like it, tell us what it's about without spoiling anything (remember: don't be a cunt) etc etc..

Pan's Labyrinth.
It's a fantasy film. But not an epic fantasy like Lord of the Rings; more like a fairy tale. The catch is, it is set in the brutal aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. I'd describe it as a fairy tale for adults. It's in Spanish, so xenophobes won't like it. It is quite sad and it has some graphic scenes. But visually, it is amazing and it has an incredibly compelling story. One of my favourite films.

Ive got pans labyrinth but ive still yet to actually watch it :hmmm:

Im gunna go a bit further back in movie history and recommend a film called taxi driver.

It stars Robert Deniro as a taxi driver who works the nightshift in New york city. working the nights he sees all kind of disgusting things and in his eyes the city is just depraved and full of filth. Pimps, drug pushers child prostitutes. He sees it all. Prior to starting his job as a taxi driver he served in the Vietnam war which may explain why he is, the way he is.
The movie follows his journey through life and how bit by bit he starts to lose his sanity as the city takes its toll on him. Its an excellent film often regarded as one of the best. Watching him fall into madness your never quite sure whats gunna happen next and your ultimately waiting for that moment when he finally snaps. Never quite sure of his place in life he comes across a child prostitute and decides that by helping her he can find his calling, what he was put here to do and find fulfillment in a life he finds without purpose. But as hes declining slowly into madness, can he actually do this? Or will he choose a completely different path?

Its an excellent film, incredibly intriguing and your constantly wondering whats gunna happen. Directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader it stars Robert Deniro as the main character, our taxi driver Travis. One of the best directors ever and one of the greatest actors make this film a must see. It was released in 1976 but please dont let its age put you off, the 70s was one of the greatest decades of film theres ever been and this was one of the greatest at its time and still stands up today as one of the best. I was discussing this film with my friend on Saturday night briefly so thats why im recommending it now. Im a big fan of discovering older films that turn out to be gems although i first saw this film many many years ago i hope someone on this forum reads this and decides to go and watch it. I know @Dionysos is a big fan of this movie too.
So go and watch it :rage:

Idiocracy

Fucking love this movie.

It's was made in 2006 and is by far one of my favourite movies. One I just can not stop watching.

It's basically about this average joe (Luke Wilson who is called Joe in the movie) who is in the military and who ends up getting frozen for an experiment to see if it will work so that they can do the same for the men they wish to save for future wars etc.

Anyway he and this other woman (who was also frozen) are forgotten about and wake up 500 years later.

The world as they know it has gone completely retarded. Stupid people kept pro-creating and all the smart people died off.

Joe is now the smartest man alive, as doing simple things such as adding 1+1 is considered genius and the way he speaks (which is completely normal) is considered faggy and pompous.

It's a must see in my opinion.
