Does Squall have any heart at all?

Its not like he accidentally found out, then maybe he would have some sympathy, but Quistis came to him with her burden, expecting something from him...?

I dunno seems selfish >.>

exactly i mean what was he supposed to do she got demoted whats done is done no use in crying over spilt milk.
 
squall is one of the most interesting character, since he's the type of person you cant read the true self unless you continue with the game
 
Squall does come off as a butt face at first, but that's because you don't understand why he's that way.

However, I hate whiny people myself to some extent, and I'm not entirely sure what Quisty wanted him to say or do.

He is not an emotional man that will cry for others and help them. World is cruel and you have to live on your own way. Others will just get him on his way, so it's better that he stand aside and live for himself. When you play on Disc 3 and Disc 4, you will understand him more and see that he is not that cold hearted.
 
I think Squall, the whole game trying to hide the person is, because all the people whom he can show feelings, can be used to achieve it. Besides, his experiences in child abandonment, make him afraid to be alone again

That sounds a bit narcisistic about you lol. why on earth would someone HAVE to care about their teacher or someone they only sort of know?

You will figure out why he is the way he is later on in the story, just think about it, he GREW up in a military school with no *******. The guy is only 18 but he's been through quiet alot by this point.
 
I thought it was funny. Quistis should stop trying to flirt with Squall by crying about her problems. I thought his reaction was kinda awesome.
 
Squall's character develops alot throughout the game so once you play a little bit more you'll see he has a heart.i think he's a really interesting character.he's my favorite character out of the final fantasy series :3
 
Its seems like people think Quisty is a wimp?

She just has underlying feelings for Sqaull, and doesnt know why, this causes her to reach out to him thinking he will return the open nature she has, but she does not realise Sqaull is not dependant on others and he thinks others should be the same.
 
So many friggin spoilers in this thread!!! Come on guys this member prob isn't that far in the game so spoiler gags would be nice. Others din't need to know about
Squall's abandonment issues or Quistis' crush on Squall
till they've played through...

I think at first he comes across as cold due to his upbringing. Being alone and not needing anyone. But his veiws change during the story.

I think he is just a complicated guy trying to deal with his emotions the only way he can.
 
If he didn't care about Quistis there was no need to feel bad for her at least the man is honest, yes it might be rude but at least he isn't cynical to say "Ohh i'm so sorry let's kiss and make up" or something like that.

Plus it's Quistis own fault she got fired anyway..."work hard to get your job back" that's what i would have told her.
 
Not bothering to read all the posts here, i kinda like Squall, but his personality is more then just a "little rough around the edges", sometimes i feel like punching him to see if he'll react.
 
Squall has a heart..but he's lost everyone he ever cared about.

That's enough to make anyone close out their emotions. One of the great aspects of FF8 is watching him open up and let people in again.
