After working with Preteen girls, I think I have finally slipped...

So yeah. Most young stars now a days come from Disney. They get their own TV show, then they get a music recording contract, and next thing you know, every little girl fourteen and under is decked out in their merchandise.

So what do you think of them? Is there any that you like? Which do you find the most annoying? Which makes you think that Disney was out of their mind when they hired said actor/singer?

I mostly find them annoying lol. Though I think it's because they are so popular and I just do not understand it lol. I mean when Hannah Montana first came out I laughed at her songs and thought that no one could possibly take her seriousy. And now every preteen girl I meet will bust out lyrics to any of her songs at a moments notice.

If there is any that I like, it's Emily Osment. I saw her "Once Upon A Dream" video when I was working with girl with Cerebral Palsy and I actually thought she had a nice voice. And I think she's cute and actually has some talent.

As for the most annoying, I can not stand Vanessa Hudgens. But maybe that's because of her role in High School as the good girl that can do absolutely no wrong. And most of the girls I work with seem to worship her.

I'm only familiar with Hannah Montana. Was that Britney Spears' younger sister a "Disney Star"? Jamie Lynn...or whatever her name is. Can't remember...

I'm not a fan of any of 'em. It's nothing personal. Generally, I don't share many common interests with preteen girls. That includes the celebrities they choose to worship.

For the record, I don't know how Hannah Montana became so popular. She's a pretty girl, but not drop-dead gorgeous. Her singing is average to slightly above average (at best). Her acting's nothing to get worked up over. I dunno what it is, but something sure got her famous in a hurry.

I find it all faintly sinister. The permanent toothy grins of these people, the way they all feel so airbushed and with all the rough edges smoothed out. Plus the scary fact they have millions of young teenagers and 'tweens' who lap up whatever it is they do. It all feels like something out of the Village of the Damned.

I did laugh when I read someone saying that Ashley Tisdale resembles 'a wererat from Dungeons and Dragons' XD

Haha that just made my day!

Yeah, Ashely Tisdale annoys me too. It bothers me how she's older than me, but she acts like a 14 year old.

Ugh and her voice. Way to high for my liking.

Though I did like her role as Sharpay in High School Musical.

But seriously, now we have pleanty of stars to watch crash and burn in a few years. :wacky:

Yeah I don't have anything personal against them either. I like a few of them, such as Ashely Tisdale and Emily Osment, but the rest...meh, don't care for them really. They don't really annoy me as well, but I do think this whole "music industry" deal is a little too much. Just stick to acting, I'd say.

And no I don't make it a habit of watching the Disney Channel. :wacky: It's just that my siblings watch it every single day and sometimes I just happen to be in the living room when it plays, and even if I don't watch it, I hear it and most of them just suddenly becomes familiar as days go by. That's how I knew of these young stars. ^^

Oooooh, my brother just showed me this video after he saw me viewing the thread. It's pretty amusing. xD

Or I might be easily entertained. Who knows.

Hahaha, I just now saw it. Took me several seconds to realize they were just BSing the whole thing. And yeah, Zac Efron's part was pretty hilarious.

And actually, I don't mind Zack and Cody. Saw them there and I just think they're really cute kids. Now Corbin Bleu...ack. I see that he 'sings' now too but I really don't find him all that great either.

Yeah it is really annoying how they have to be an actor, a singer, a dancer - bloody everything! Of course it's to maximise the money they can make from them but it's going to reach saturation point sooner or later, and then some of them will wind up tossed on the scrapheap. Time to place bets - who will go on to stardom and who will do a Lindsay Lohan/Drew Barrymore and go wildly off the rails XD (though to be fair the latter of those two did steer herself back in the end).

The only person I like that started on the Disney Channel is Shia LeBeouf. Hes actually become a really great actor and was in big hits like Transformers, Disturbia, and Eagle Eye, unlike these other Disney Stars that keep doing pre-teen flicks.

As for the ones I hate, I really can't stand Miley Cyrus. When she started out, she wasn't that bad, but now shes really annoying >_> And the bad thing is that teen girls can't seem to get enough of her! She's not even that great of a singer...

700th post!! :D

I don't like what they sing, what they dance and whatever horrible movie they happen to be in. That being said I'm not the target market, 'tweens' are. I'm sure it happens with every generation, it's kinda silly to get annoyed about something beyond my control and that's natural.
Also all that disney trash a la High School Musical is a lot nicer than the alternative, eg 50 cent who also seems to target white teenagers. Disney stars are the lesser of two evils.

I HATE that guy. He should have stayed locked away on the Disney Channel. Transformers was awesome, but it would've been even better if Shia got trampled by one of the robots. Sort of a bummer he didn't get decapitated in the new Indiana Jones movie. =(

Oh, well. Someday maybe.

I got the Disney channel a few years ago and was expecting round the clock mickey mouse and Donald duck. Oh how wrong I was! Instead I get bombarded with Lizzie McGuire, Thats so Raven and Even Stevens. Oh god how I despise the crap that the Disney channel throw's at me. Luckily I dropped the channel before Hannah Montana started airing so the Miley Virus
(amirite?:wacky:)was supressed from my household for a good year.
