Having beaten XII recently, I cannot help but be left with the feeling that it all ended too soon.

I was even sad knowing I that I had almost finished the game, as I had been really enjoying it.

So my question is, do you also think XII was too short and should have been a bit longer?

i think that all the games are too short......i thought that once the games went to dvd format that they would put out multiple disc huge games......guess not...

too short???

Im at 50 hours and im nowhere near the end!!! At least I think so...

Are you including all the sidequests and the hunts and etc.....???

The story part of the game I don't think was too long, but the side quests/hunts were. They took way too long to get not very good stuff. I got tired of doing them toward the end of the game and just beat it.

I think the character development was really crappy! U didnt see into every character unlike FFX which was in my opinion the best and can only be beaten my FFVII Story (good gfx for the time but total crap for now a dayz)!!!! Hope they due a remake of FFVII

including all of the side stuff, you can easily drop 100 hours in the game. i don't really think that it's too short. ;)

I'm just talking about the main story line being too short...

The sidequests/hunts in themselves were very long, lol!

The story itself is in fact, really short, but including all sidequests and all, the game is ok, but a longer story would have to be made, i cant deny that point, but those higher graphics made the game shorter...

Like most people said, the story itself is not very long but including the sidequest it is far reasonable. I got used to 15-20 hours long games (hmm God Of War ..hum) and finally I'm happy with a game that could take 100+ hours to finish.

I'm at 240+ hrs, only thing to get is the last treasure for the wyrmhero blade, so I've gotten my moneys worth, no complaints. I do think that if you focus on just the story(which BTW don't play rpg's if that is your goal) then yeah it would probably be too short. I still think that if you just do the storyline and the story related sidequests, maybe not ALL the hunts or espers, but some that you run across during the playthrough, you could easily play for 60-70hrs which is about par for the course. Anyways, short of VII this is by far the best installment in the series, IMO!
:2thumbs:

In my personal experience story was short with bad pace. I felt like i was just going from one place to other, killing enemies for 10 hours and then something story related happened compressed in a 2 minutes scene or fight.

I thought they spent too much time on all of the sidequests and extras. I would estimate that you could probably beat this game in around 20-25 hours if you just played through the game from start to finish. Some people are saying that it takes them 100+ hours to get everything in the game. That means that somewhere around 75-80% of the game is extras. IMO that is way too much.

So to answer the question :D the storyline and character development was shorted, and the extras were overdone.

I think the story line was too short but the sidequests and hunts were actually even longer than the story so yeah. I was hoping it would be a pretty long game though like the other games such as VII and VIII but meh.

Definitely way to short,

With the amount of time I spent in this game, leveling up, Side quests and Hunts, I feel I got my $ worth.

However, I feel that fans deserved a whole lot more of an ending then what they got.

On a side note: (Spoiler)
I was upset with the fact that Panelo narrated the entire end and we didn't hear from any of the other hero's/characters.

No Final Fantasy game is long enough, You'll allways end up wanting more and more!

If you're just following the storyline then it is a tad bit short for my taste. Then again i guess it's just in my head. I feel as though a long game should have at least 3 CDs.

But thinking of it, a DVD is MORE than 3 CDs... Just that they went too much for extras, and the image quality has increased really much, making the game shorter.

I took a break from the story near what I didn't realize was the end,in order to complete hunts, find espers, etc.I was at lv.63 and boarded the Bahamut, thinking I still had a ways to go,but lo and behold I was face to face with Vayne and the whole fight seemed like a cakewalk, which led me to believe he would run to some other obscure place with lv.80 monsters. But instead I get a narrative from my least favorite(although cute as a button)character.Completing everything will easily run over 100+ hours, but I wish the story could go that long, and still have awesome side quests that make the days slip by unnoticed. But I still love it,and I'm still finding things to do and give me reason to wander around Ivalice.

i dont think it was too short. if you did all the sidequests and other fun stuff like me, you could rack up some serious hours. I had 125 i dont think it was too short at all.
