Did you think to collect all the party members BEFORE going to Kefka's Tower?

Come to think of it, i don't remember Shadow dying, but then again, i didn't particularly pay attention to the ending, i went and made lunch.

What happens to shadow for him to die?

Anyways looking it up apparently they are referring to the lines differences in the Japanese text... Does sound like he dies!!! Wow that kinda sucks... I assumed he just vanished as he was always doing that. Then again I guess it is the way they wanted it...

Still... I liked Shadow... He was a deep character!

P.S.: YEAAAAA!!! I AM A CHOCOBO BREEDER!!! IM GOING TO BREED MYSELF A FAT GOLDEN CHOCOBO TO CARRY MY STUFF WHILE FLYING ANYWHERE!!!

P.P.S.: Though probably incredibly slowly if it can still fly!
 
Yeah i try to do everything before going to kefka's tower, also gives me more motivation to level up in between getting all the characters back.. The only characters i really use are Locke, Edgar, Sabin and Celes even when i do get them all back

It never occured to me to not collect everyone again the first time I played it. I looked at Kefka's tower, and thought, "That looks hard... I better not go there yet." Unfortunately, I didn't wait for Shadow on the Floating Island the first time, so... (That didn't occur to me, either.)

You went to the end of the game with just three characters? That's hardcore, man! You must be hardcore! Yer all like, "I don't need no extra party members! They're only holding me back! Kefka, your ass is grass, son!" ;)
 
When I first played the game, I just assumed that you needed to find all the other characters before you could conquer Kefka's tower. Plus, it seemed like a good way to extend the game and maybe do some other interesting things. I still haven't beaten the game with just the few primary characters you need, but I may try to do so in the future.
 
When I first played the game on SNES, there was a map that came with the game with every location numbered of the WOB and WOR. I went to every location that was on the WOR map and that's how I got all the characters back. (except Gogo). I never thought first that it was possible to beat the game with 4 characters. Anyway, i rather have 3 full parties of 4 characters for the final dungeon.
 
I thought getting all of the characters was mandatory as well so I went out of my way to find them all. Some of them were harder to find than others and since I didn't want to use a walkthrough/get someone to help, the whole ordeal took me quite a while to finish. Nonetheless it was well worth it because I didn't expect the party to split up into 3 teams right at the beginning of Kefka's Tower. It's just luckily for me I kept everyone decently leveled or else getting to Kefka would have been a pain.
