Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s game director Jean-Francois Dugas has said that the development team behind the game are “dedicated to re-creating” the Deus Ex experience “for a new generation of gamers” that missed out on it previously.

Speaking with Gamespot, Dugas said that as action RPG, the game has a “compelling narrative”, a “great cast of characters” and will allow you to play it the way you want.

‘We wanted a fresh start on the franchise and to make it unique and stand-alone,” he said. “Therefore, you do not need to be an old Deus Ex fan to appreciate the game–we have a new main character and supporting characters that we’ll encounter during the journey.

“One of the main things that makes a Deus Ex game is the nonlinear and multipath approach to level design.

“Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s world is full of extra things to find off the beaten path, and you get experience points that you earn for achieving and finding things. So not only will you be able to upgrade yourself even further through the earning of extra experience points, but you’ll also find more ammo, credits, side quests, etc.

“As for missions, there is always more than one way to get to the location you need to go. Then, once you successfully infiltrate a given location, navigating it will also let you decide how you approach the challenges.
“Do you want to fight your way in or do you want to stay out of sight, undetected? Do you want to use your hacking skills to open new opportunities or deal with some neutral non-player character to help you out? So, building your character in the way you want to play will influence the available options”.

Those quotes are all part of larger ones that you can get through the link up top there, and it’s something you should definitely read so you’ll know what to expect come early 2011.

The first trailer for it was released yesterday, along with some in-game shots last night.

You should really check both out.

Its cool to hear that they are mking a whole new series. Coul do more good for Square Enix >_> Im interested in human revolution

Well THANKS Square, but you still should throw a bone to your long time fans. I sure hope they don't kill the continuity of the series and tick off most of the people who are excited about the game in the first place. I'm hoping they treat the earlier games the way MGS 3 treated MGS 1 and 2- you didn't need to know anything about them to enjoy the story, but if you were familiar with them then the story connections and character references would make the experience more engrossing as well.

I'm wondering whether the buff dude attacking the main character near the end of the recent trailer is a young Gunther Hermann (a particularly nasty mechanically augmented soldier in the first Deus Ex)...

Isn't it more of an Eidos game than a Square game ?

The video looks very nice and is very impressive.

Assuming the actual game looks that nice makes me wonder why they couldn't have done something along those lines with FFXIII.

Oh well...

It's very much more of an Edios game. A good one at that. However, because SE bought out Edios, Edios news is apparently now SE news.

Seeing the trailer reminded me muchly of Ghost in the Shell, and now I can't help but imagine the game as that... but with a male lead. Hrm.. =/

Oh, so then I guess were in for more Eidos news that's going to be slated as SE news because of a simple name change... Great. -__-

I question whether Eidos is really Square Enix.

Eidos was and is Eidos.I presume they were working on this project prior to being bought by Square and Square decided, wisely it seems, to allow them to complete it.

Why they can't bring some of the talent they acquired from companies they acquired and bring it in to help them with FF is beyond me.The producers of FF seem very territorial and very defensive about their work and that may have somthing to do with it.

I might buy this game.I find the premise intriguing.

The trailer contains the Square Enix logo seen here; http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/s...-trailer-rocks-fucking-socks-6-4-a-40548.html

Square-Enix wouldn't stop them developing any WIPs but once they purchased Edios they purchased all of their IPs along with it.
