Dear Person who programmed the chocobo catcher bit...

Ugh. i hated this minigame. Seeing as Tidus was in my main party, I needed the Sun Sigil to make his Ultimate Weapon.
It took me hours of non-stop tries before I got it. Thankfully, I wasn't killed by a malboro afterwards.
 
i am continually impressed that people actually managed to do this without using the glitch to cheat. :D

You guys rock! (I suck XD)
 
what about the person who's brilliant idea it was so make you dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row to get the sigel for Lulu's Onion Knight.

After 5 attempts, i got 5 balloons at the start on my side, got them alll, did a hard turn right, managed to grab like 5 balloons, then turn a hard left only to have some idiotic bird land on me. then i managed to grab like 3 balloons at the end. it was 37 secs, 13 balloons and 1 bird. time was 1.3 i think

i was like NOOOOOO
after that, somehow i got the 5 balloons again o_O. i did the whole thing and at the end i got hit -.- then, then, i looked at the amount of balloons. 16. birds. 1. time. 36 seconds.

I ACTUALLY DID IT!
after 10 minutes i got it :D

Yea dodging lightning is hard. reached 170~ til someone (my sister) had to get in front of my screen!!! >.> 1 hour of trying wasted
 
I hated attempting both the lightning and the Chocobo Trainer minigames. I gave up on the lightning simply because I rarely use Lu after I get to Sin simply because once I get that far, I stick with uber fast killing methods, so I stick to melee char's, usually being Yunie, Auron, and Tidus. So... I'm kind of stuck.. I have to get the damn Caldabolg. Unless I went with Wakka which is always a choice cuz I love blitzball but I like Tidus... so either way I"m screwed into getting Caldabolg... Man, the last time I tried, I spent about 5 hours trying. The closest I got was .9 SECONDS!! .9! That's it... -_- Man... Talk about frustration and agravation. The first time.. I got it on like.. the third try. I don't know how I did it. Some random stroke of luck I guess eh?

The good news here is that you can get the Caldabolg, Sun Sigil, and the Cloudy Mirror all in the Calm Lands as soon as you get there the first time. The bad news is that after you win the chocobo race at Remiem Temple, the activation of said mirror to the Celestial mirror in Macalania forest, achieve that elusive 0.0 time on the annoying catcher game in the Calm Lands, the long trek across the Calm Lands after winning Chocobo Catcher to get the sword, to then go ALLLL the way back to Macalania forest withe your sword, mirror and sigil just to find out that you cant activate that sword until you get the crest ALLLLL the way at the sphincter of the continent in Zanarkand. I found that the most annoying of all.
 
I remember trying to get the damn sigil all night until the morning, I had already broken two my my controllers because i would come within inches of the finish only to get pushed into a fucking bird then more hit me. Then when i did get (well thought i did) 0.00 it turned out it wasn't after following this guide on gamefaqs. It has to be lower than 0.00 though it doesn't show that in game.



When i finally got the damn thing, i left to buy two controllers to replace the ones i broke because of this fucking minigame.
 
I done this race at least 30-35 times! It's the most annoying thing of FFX, I love FFX but this race is unbearable, when I finally got the 0.0 time, I swear I jumped from my seat and screamed, it was the most happiest few seconds of my life! Haha.
 
I'm doing this for a friend in the next few weeks when I get some time, Im not looking forward to it at all, he mithered me for ages before I caved and said I'd do it, I must be an idiot, I KNOW it takes me hours of temper tantrums, though the deal was sealed when he said he'd get the gabranth sky medal for me in FFXII

I hate this stupid race so much
 
i have to admit that was a bloody long game i was restarting that game like crazy but good things comes to those who wait. The time i got 0.0 was when all the balloons were on my side at the start. when i did final get 0.0 i was dancing around my room like (just like the time i beat emerald Weapon for the first time)

lol that was one of THE best rants ever , i remember doing this around 2 years ago and taking at least 5 hours , ill say some of the worst content in video gaming history. Well done to the retard that made it - seriously you would have to be retarded to actually think that this tripe was worth a place inside an ff game , almost as bad as that last mission in cod 4 on veteran , mile high club it was called , buts thats completly unrelated to this whole forum lol.
 
I still can't get this freaking thing! I must have tried hundreds of times... The lowest I have is .3 seconds. And its driving me bananas.
 
I'll type my response to this thread with full awareness of me risking my life from the flaming horde of FFX mobsters out to get me.

I got the Chocobo race done on my third time, no cheats. I always aim for the second balloon at the start, no matter what. Puts me up in front of the girl to get the rest of the balloons over the track. My record I believe is like... 20ish balloons, and zero birds.

Lightning dodger, psh, easy as pie and a piece of cake. Without the "No Encounters" mod. I went to the first area (one closest to Guadosalam), and got myself stuck by a treasure chest on the right side. I think it had/has a Wakka "Water Ball" weapon in it. No moving means no random monsters to fight. Took 28 minutes.

Yes, Kimahri's is a pain to get. The southern butterfly game bugged me, but I still got it within 30 minutes.

Only one's I don't have are Rikku's and Wakka's. I know I had Rikku's on my previous file, but for some reason, I can't find one of the Cactaurs. And Wakka... I just can't stand Blitz.
 
hahaha i really like the rant however i really didnt find this minigame that much of a problem. the first time i played the game it only took me 5 attempts, and my other playthroughs it only took like 2 or 3. the minigame i struggled with was dodging the lightning bolts, i ran out of patience completely
