Okay, I have an old saved game from 9 in which Im about to meet Quina. Ive done so much on that saved file and suddnely it claims the datas corrupted! It wont load at all.

Is there a reason for this?

This actually happened to two of my friends file while playing FF7 when both of them had never played for a while. It might be a bug with the memory cards.

Is it an official memory card? I've heard that 3rd party memory cards are prone to data corruption.

Ah, no it isnt. My ex gave it to me from his workand it wouldnt work. So I then transfered it to an offical PS1 memory card and thought that may let it work. Im best deleting it then. Dont want it ruining my other file!

Yeah I think it only happens on the file of the memory card and not the whole memory card itself.

I had this happen on an official Sony memory card not too long ago when I wanted to play FFVII again. Its unfortunate, but happens. I had to order a new one (couldn't find a place locally that carried new PSX memory cards).

Data corruption occurs if you turn off the game while saving. Since this is an old save file, you might have done that and not remember it?

Both my friends had it happen at the end of FFVII and couldnt be bothered to do it all again and thus far have never completed it. Poor souls.

Well Data corruption can happened as well when using a Gameshark/cheat code. Maybe you randomly put in a code a while ago for something? =/

It can also occur if dust or fluff or something similar gets onto the contacts of your memory card. Just blow into the contacts to clear it, but the data is lost forever, I'm afraid.
Actually, that's a lie. My Muppets Race Mania file got corrupted and still loaded fine. I just couldn't delete or copy it. :wacky:

It may have been because of a Gameshark code that you used(If you ever used something like that on it) or because there are errors with all the old memory cards. Happened to me many times but that's because after I beat a game I always see what codes I can use after the game :O.

Lol... NO! Don't delete the file, it's still good... I'll bet I'm too late, but here's why and how to load the file below.

99.99% of the time, the "Data's Corrupted" error message is caused from the use of a cheat device editing a character's stats or item count. Now, because a cheat device loads games using it's own boot ROM (bypassing the PS1 or PS2's ROM), save files can and often do become corrupt.

Actually, the save file isn't ruined, it just has a conflicting set information with it's original checksum file. Basically, if you can get a hold of a PS1 cheat device (anyone will do), you'll be able to load that corrupted file using a Checksum Bypass Code.

No I never do that. Sorry, but if you do that its plain retarded. Ive never done that in my life cause basically you shouldnt!

And Ive never used GameSharks with this game lol. No cheats at all, thats not me.
