Alright. This is the first time I'm holding a RPB. I actually intend this little battle to be one of the battles that my character had went through. Something like an event to give some depth to my character's history, you can say. Nevertheless, feel free to request to join if you have an approved character and is keen.

I'm working on a first come first served basis, so, fire away.

I'll start on the scene when someone joins in. It can evolve into a battle of a greater scale if the turnout is good though... *Hints*:busta:

EDIT

I forgot to mention, but the character I'm going to use is Unity Ilf, my newly approved character.

Just out of curiosity, Chromatic, why are you interested in his profile when you have yet to have one approved yourself?

Character Profile? You mean the bio? It's linked in the name of the character, here >> Unity Ilf.

And also, it seems obvious you're a new user. Nevertheless, I am only accepting users that have already created characters that are Approved over at 'The Heroes' section of this forum. So, if you're keen to participate as well, do create a character based on the criteria provided there and get it approved.

I'll think about whether to challenge you, though to be fair, you have the advantage in terms of distance.

Yeah, that's true, and since I make the starting post, I get to set the premises as well. Distance and terrain may be on my side. After all, it would be fatal to my character if you get your way at close range... She's a Mage.

I realize.....

I will face you anyway, and since Virginia has not made contact with your character prior to the EF RP (if you want to consider it canon with your character) I will use someone else from that time period, Carolina Cardensis.

Thanks! I was starting to worry if this thread would never get a response, seeing how this forum is one of the least used by role players, apparently. Anyway, I'll probably double post at a later date to set the premise for this RPB.

Apologies to the relevant people for the double post, but right now, I'm in a hurry to get off. School has officially started, and unlike the previous times, my schedule is going to be packed from early in the morning till very late at night. Still, I'm confident of forcing out some time for my obligations, so no worries.

((OOC: Once again, I deeply apologize for the double post. Also, .Strigon Leader, from now on, all subsequent posts would be considered IC, unless stated so. Add in the ‘OOC’ label to help differentiate chat from role-play.

I suppose our characters could meet by chance, and decide to test each other’s skills. Friendly competition, I suppose.))

Setting:

Forests of the Alleria

These forests are located in the land of Alleria, close to a city of the same name. As probably suggested by this similarity, the lands are all owned by the city’s leader, the King Roan. Nevertheless, these forests hold a deep, strategic meaning to the city. It also provides a significant supply of the city’s resources, be it food, or lumber.

The forest is particularly dense, and trees are not spaced too far apart. Animals scurrying about are a common sight. More so are the predators hunting their prey. Fortunately, the more dangerous hunters are mostly nocturnal. Some varieties of trees in this forest include pine trees, and fir- with pine trees growing in pure stand.

Story:

Unity sighed, pulling the hood of her cloak over her head. The birds continued chirping their peaceful song, and as the forest stirs to life, this solitary figure continues on her slow, relaxing walk to the city of Alleria. The sun has yet to rise completely, but already, the deep blue sky of the early morning was slowly changing into a brighter cyan.

Ambling along, she couldn’t help but sigh to herself. Her journey from Mysteral had been fraught with little to no hostile encounters. Which also meant she had no chance to put her offensive spells to the test. While she had encountered several monsters along the way, they were so easily dispatched by her simplest fire spell, ‘Ignite’.

Shaking her head, she couldn’t help but sigh again as she treaded along.

Carolina, the newly made leader of the Espada Brigade, was sent on a mission to escort Sapanish representatives so they could meet with King Roan to discuss trade between Alleria and Sapin. Both Kingdom's shared a common interest and was both were willing to see a military alliance made.

Even though the agreements and the debates were still going on between representatives of the two monarchs. Carolina decided to walk into the forest and see life at its finest.

The sun was about to rise, morning would come on this fine day, as the veteran of the Battle of Twinkle Islands would see herself through the forests. Although there were a few creatures, most were retreating to sleep the day away.

Suddenly, the general peace of the forest seemed interrupted. Unity promptly discovered that something foreign was in this forest. From the corners of her white-colored eye, she couldn’t help but notice another figure close by in the vicinity. This person was fully armored, and carried along with her a sword and shield- a warrior, no doubt.

However, the black color that also defined the armor made her wonder what exactly she was. A knight? Her curiosity piqued, she decided to make contact with this person. Deep down, she was hoping for some kind of conflict, so she may put her Magic to the test once again. Though, ultimately, she knew better than to enjoy such scenarios.

Turning over the direction of this unknown lady, she approached her. Her pace remained slow, but steady. She certainly didn’t want to show any signs of hostility, and as a sign of trust, she removed her hood as she came closer. It was then, her eyes of white noticed this person was not human; she was Felidian.

Ignoring that fact, she continued on to introduce herself. “Greetings, warrior. My name is Unity.”

Then, an expression of curiosity came on. “May I ask, what are you doing here within this peaceful forest of Alleria?”

Asking this with a gentle tone, she effectively made it sound less like an interrogation. Though, what exactly the Felidian thought about Unity remains to be seen. After all, for a human, her features are considerably bizarre.

For someone this young to have hair this white was already strange enough. It doesn’t help that her complexion was just as white, and also her iris color. Some people from her home had once addressed her as a ‘ghost’ behind her back, but she had little choice but to accept this. That was how she looked, after all.

Nevertheless, a Felidian may think otherwise, and Unity looked to the female warrior for a response.

Carolina looked to side to see a hooded figure coming towards her. She took hold of the grip of the blade as she was about to unsheathe it, but the figure lowered her hood to reveal her white skin and hair. A sight that would have freaked out anyone but the bravest souls, Carolina was not horrified or scared. But was a little unnerved by the fact the fact that this girl was approaching her.

Releasing her grip on her blade's handle, she heard the girl say, “Greetings, warrior. My name is Unity.”

Carolina responded in kind with her Sapinish (Spanish) accent, "Good day to you, my name is Carolina."

“May I ask, what are you doing here within this peaceful forest of Alleria?”

"I wanted to get away from the politics in the inner city, so I decided to come and see the famed Alleria forest for myself. Is that why you're here, Unity?"

((OOC: Once again, I must apologize for this particularly late post. I can only blame my hectic schedule of late.))

"No, not exactly. I am travelling to the city of Alleria." She responded, pleased at hearing the word 'politics'. She may have no interest in the subject, but the prospects of the person being skilled in combat arts had just became likely with the mention of that word. With that in mind, she was already curious to test the skills of this warrior.

Still, it would be rude, and underhanded to attack immediately. Even if it seemed awkward, she knew she had to ask.

"Forgive me for saying this, if you do feel offended. I'd been deprived of opportunities to put my combat skills to the test recently. You do look like a warrior, and I believe you could make an interesting opponent... However, would you be willing to do battle with me?"

"Forgive me for saying this, if you do feel offended. I'd been deprived of opportunities to put my combat skills to the test recently. You do look like a warrior, and I believe you could make an interesting opponent... However, would you be willing to do battle with me?"

Carolina seemed surprised when she heard Unity say that. While she looked like she had seen some experience, she did not know what her capabilities are. Still, Carolina think it would be for the best to agree to her wishes.

"I'm would agree to a fight, but I don't know what you are capable, I mean, where are your weapons?"

((OOC: Apologies for the late post. By now, I suppose you should already know that my level of activity is pathetically low. Nevertheless, I’ll still be here as and when I’m free.))

“I have no weapons.” She replied, shrugging to further express this in action. “I am a Mage, and my combat capabilities lies in my ability to use magic offensively.”

As soon as she said that, she quickly chanted a short incantation for a fireball to form on her hands. The fireball formed just as she concluded her incantation, and expanded into a ball of radius 7cm. “Naturally, this is but one of the simplest of my arsenal of spells.

If it is a fight that I must give, I will not deprive my opponent of the chance to see more than just fireballs flying about.”

Carolina smiled, this wasn't the first time she fought against a mage. But this child, she saw something in her that made her think that she could be a worthy enough opponent.

"Alright then, compañero (comrade)..." Carolina jumped and backflipped back away from her opponent, drawing her Espada de la Antigua, the Sword of the Ancients, and prepared her shield for defense. "....you make the first move Unity."

((OOC: Now that the battle has started, perhaps you may actually want to know more about my character’s spells. I will not be explaining in detail how the spell works in my posts. Linked here. Spells names in lime green))

“Then, allow me this honor.”

At this point in time, Unity had totally no clue as to what this warrior before her was capable of. Seeing her jump back from her in a perfect back flip only spoke of her locomotive adroitness. Perhaps, her metal armor, sword, and shield suggested a melee style of battle. However, what else is she capable of?

There was apparently only one way to find out now.

Stretching out her hands, she pointed at where Carolina now stood. “Ignite.” She muttered, after mentally chanting the required incantation. Then, without waiting for the spell to activate, she progressed backwards, behind a tree, out of sight of Carolina.

Once she got to the spot, she began mentally intoned the incantation for her next spell, ‘Illusory Bubble’. Calling forth the spell somewhere far off to Carolina’s right, some 5 meters from Unity’s position, she turned to face Carolina’s direction.

Right now, only the Illusory Bubble that reflects her image is visible to Carolina, and it is through this that Unity plans to execute her subsequent spells. After all, the two had no knowledge about the other’s abilities. She hoped Carolina would presume this to be the ability to teleport.

Nevertheless, although the image of her was now reflected, she had to make sure it seemed real. Raising both arms now, she moved her mouth as though casting yet another spell. This, the image in the Illusory Bubble mimicked, and re-enacted her actions. However, the spell was set to unleash directly under the Bubble, and directly in front of it.

Whether or not these spells would hit, would now lie in the hands of Carolina herself.

Carolina felt the generation of heat emanating from her current location. Despite having little time to react, was able to sidestep, cartwheeling her way out before the blue flames shot up in the sky and incinerating any plant life in that general area. When she looked at where Unity was, she disappeared.

Checking her surroundings she spotted Unity to the right of her, "How did she get there so quick? Did she teleport?" Carolina thought of this, but when Unity began raising her arms, Carolina realized she was going to cast another spell. "I'm not going to give you another chance at another spell." Carolina said confidently as she ran forward with sword drawn at her and went to swing at her arms with the blunt side of the sword.

And so it would seem the careless warrior chose to fall in line with her planned strategy. However, the act has to go on. While the Illusory Bubble may now fade away, Unity decided it would be best to keep up the act that she can actually teleport. Directly behind Carolina, roughly 8 meters away, Unity called forth yet another Illusory Bubble.

Then, she focused back on where Carolina was. Peering out from her hiding spot behind the large tree, she quickly clasped her hands together to pretend to be preparing to escape Carolina’s blow. Over at Carolina’s initial position, the bluish flames characteristic of her spell erupted. It was only too bad its target was not at the position, but it would seem she would now suffer the effects of this spell.

As Carolina rushed at her image reflected in her Illusory Bubble, she watched keenly at the floor directly below. It was not yet evident, but under the cover of the leaf litter collected on it, flames were already forming gradually. All’s left was to see if Carolina would now fall for this trap she had laid.

Unity faded away after attacking, only to reappear 8 meters behind her. "So she can teleport." Carolina thought. "This girl is a more skilled mage than I thought, and probably has a greater reserve of mana than I do."

The Felidian started to figure that the only reason she is doing this is so she could delay for a bigger spell or to trap her.

"Looks like I'm going to have to tread carefully with her."

Carolina casts the spell, saying, "PELAR" at this point a red orb of magical energy surrounded her, and for the next 30 seconds, would protect her from magical assault.

Carolina then ran forwards, using her agility to move from side to side as quickly as possible. However, on the way to Unity, she ran in through a litter of leaves, it would be a split second, but it may be enough to bring the trap into full effect.
