So, I've just been reading up on it on Wikipedia to see if there was a more technical way to describe the kind of Colour Blindness I have, because just saying "I'm colour blind" makes people think I can only see in black and white, and saying "red/green colour blindness" doesn't actually mean I can't see either of those colours.

Long story short, I got bored and went to try online tests. It's funny because my results were, exactly, a match to the red/green colour blindness results. :wacky:

Also, it's interesting to note that, if you're a male, then you got it from your shitting mother (AND father, if he has it - but if you have it then your mum was carrying it). If you're a female and have it, then blame both of them. :wacky:

Did you just discover something? :gmonster:

I just thought colour blindness meant you could only see in black and white as well. :wacky:
I took that test and in said I have normal vision, I guess it's a good thing xD

Not really... I already knew that, sorry for you though. But I know some people who are color blind too and it ain't so bad...

I found out that I do have normal eyes after all! Although, in that circle where you're supposed to see a 5, I saw an 8 at first >_>

I remember them making us do these tests in school, I can't quite remember why, but I think it was before/after the TB or Polio vaccination.

xD I totally saw an 8, as well. I don't have too much of a problem, it isn't color blindness. Just difficulty in telling apart colors. Colors close to blue-green will look wrong. For example, the taxi cab color yellow looks more like a bright green. Oranges look like reds. Very weird.

A normal color vision for me! On the last one, I spotted the 5 right away. =P That was easy. Actually, for awhile I wondered if I was color blind or what. >.> Now I've confirmed it.

I have "normal" vision. I like to think I see a bit better than "normal" though. :monster:

I had a teacher in secondary school who was colour blind, he had very pale blue eyes that were almost completely milky. o.o

Well I know that I'm not colour blind. I still think I need a proper eye test though. >>

An interesting thought about people who are red/green colour blind: if they're born with it, but don't know it, then all through their life they'll be told that things that they see as green is actually red and vice-versa. So technically to them, what they see as red isn't actually red, but green. If you follow that.

I'm not colour blind, and I has perfect vision too, which is ood because I look a right twat in glasses I remember doing these tests in primary school. Army Guy is though, he says he just can't tell the difference between certain colours if they are similar and I tried showing him someones purple hair when we were at the zoo and he just thought it was black (it wasn't like bright purple, it was a shade I used to have and I was like looook I want purple hair again so he was just like wot where)

Edit* As for that test, I could make out all the numbers so I don't appear to be colourblind now either :monster:

Actually, from what I've been told by colour blind people then they'll see red as a pinky or peachy colour, and green as a lighter green or things like that. I don't think it tends to be as extreme as what you're saying, but I could be wrong. >_>

When we were talking about it in biology though, Dave said it was things like he couldn't see red chalk on a blackboard but he COULD see the red fire extinguisher. :wacky:

Anyhoo, I got all those tests right, so I'm not colourblind. :monster:

Same here. haha

I thought there was something wrong with me when I read that I was supposed to be seeing the number 5. So yeah, normal vision for me. Well, not completely normal. I'm not color blind, but I'd pretty much be completely blind if not for my contact lenses.

ok i made a big mistake by taking that test without my reading glasses on because all that did was prove that i am not colour blind in anyway and tht staring at dots gives me a head and eye ache.
Also one of my friends at school has a type of colour blindness where he cannot tell the difference between pink orange and red

He's EXACTLY the same as me. Does the army know about that condition? I was told at the age of five I'd never be able to join the army because of it. GUTTED.

I also couldn't be a policeman or a pilot, for some reason. :wacky:

Said people being me? xD

!!!

I couldn't see the red AGAINST the black but I could see the red fire extinguisher against the [supposedly] WHITE wall. xD

I assume the Army knew, seeing as they have to have all those physicals and shit too make sure they are fit & healthy and can like....see an' shit. So I reckon you was lied to, unless when you were told that was the practice then.....I'l ask him when he gets back :wacky:

I don't see how it can make all that difference though it's not like you can't see......-shrugs-

No, the army are really strict regarding eye sight. Although it depends what you're going in as. My sister's fiance was in the army, and he's worn glasses as long as I've known him, and one of my mates has always needed glasses/contacts an is in the army too. I think it's just as main infantry or something that you need perfect vision.

It has something to do with camouflage an' shit like seeing the wanks who're shooting at you.

That might be it. xD

My brother's colorblind. wich was a pain when we played games in wich color was important. Like pool or whatever its called. He always mixed up the white ball with the pink one. I called him a cheater often before we figured out he just can't see the diffrence. So I already knew about this stuff. Also its from father to daughter to son apparently. So my mom called her dad to ask if he's colorblind, and he hung up on her. Sensitive issue maybe..
I'm not colorblind by the way, and neither are the other members of my family, just the brother... and obviously my (now deceaced) grandfather.

The Army did know, they make you do the colourblind tests, he said there is a few jobs you can't do like being a pilot and others he can't remember but he was fine, I can't remember what he said he did although when he was in Iraq he did alot of the transporty shit of ......stuff/civillians....?

My husband's red/green colorblind, and yet his still insists on arguing about what color things are with me. It's rather frustrating. To him, red things seem more orangey unless they're a darker sort of red, and green things have a tendancy to look rather blue.

He'll argue with me about the color of a house, but when he's drawing he'll occasionally pick up a colored pencil and ask me what color it is. (He has an unmarked set.) Drives me bonkers.
