Help Can I get off the Esthar Continent?

Ok, I am on the Esthar continent trying to do the GF Doomtrain sidequest at Tears` Point. The 6 Malboro Tentacles can be stolen from the Malboros in Esthar`s Grandidi forest so that shouldn`t be a problem. The 6 Remedy+ shouldn`t be a problem as all I would have to do is buy 60 remedies and use the Med LV UP ability from Alexander to refine them into 6 Remedy+. The problem is getting the 6 steel pipes, which can be stolen from Wendigos in the wasteland surrounding Galbadia Garden. I am not completely sure on this, but I am starting to this that I would have to advance the story more before I will be able to get off of the Esthar continent. My question is, is there any way to get off of Esthar at this point or am I stuck on the continent until I advance the story?
 
I've never tried to leave, I've just waited til I can advance further.. can you get back through the great salt lake? I wouldn't imagine you would have to actually walk through it again.. if you can't get back by at least trying to head in that direction, then, for the time being, you're stuck there pal

Can't just play a few card games, hope you get some elatiod cards and refine 6 from those?
 
You can only leave upto the Train station near the bridge, when leave the Great Salt Lake,
Which can only be retracked up until you pass the the Esthar Cloaking Device Interface on the walk way before the flashback scene.

Its a pain but, as bambi says Cards are your only bet now!
 
I advanced further into the story because I realized I didn`t really have any other choice. I got the Ragnarok ship so I think this problem has now been solved.
 
I think what Mr FF 10 year + Veteran is saying that this thread can now be closed?

I really think that getting the Solomon Ring and using it properly requires you to have played the game at least once to get all the stuff you need before the World map is locked for prolonged time, otherwise its just frustrating.
