Britain's Got Talent

There's nothing magic about her and she's not "the most talented in Britain".

That's your opinion, obviously she's had some effect on people, who DO think she's "magical" and talented.

However, don't forget, in all entertainment shows, it's not JUST about the talent, personality is a huge deciding factor too, and I think a lot of people have been drawn to Susan because she's just an average person, but with a better-than-average voice.

And, according to Sky News she got 76% of the vote on Sunday night, which is really saying something, considering the person who came 2nd in the voting, only got 7% she's obviously appealed to a LOT of people.

And, this year I think the finals are gonna be 5 singers and 5 dance acts. Simon saying "Shaun" as quickly as he did on Monday night, picking a singer over a talented ventriloquist, shows that he's only interested in acts that can make him money at the end of the day, not interested in a variety show.

I'm kind of inclined to agree with the Susan haters, although I DO like her, I just think people are getting caught up in the hype because no one expected her to be able to sing...

Either way she's gunna get record deals, all the singers will no doubt, and I thought Natalie was crap, just another cute kid singing a song with that high pitched annoying kid voice

Anyway, it's so much easier for people who can sing to get their 15 minutes of fame than say a ventriloquist or a dance act or what ever, sure if they were part of a band or whatever, but how many people do you know who can sing compared to people you know who are like houidini or can throw their voices liek that dude could?

I know, she just enrages me to no end :wacky:

If only that weren't true, 'cause really when you buy records or watch performances you're not interested in whether or not the person's nice...e.g. Zach Braff, who plays J.D. in Scrubs, is often shown as nothing but an absolute cunt in person but we still love what he does :wacky:

and I think a lot of people have been drawn to Susan because she's just an average person, but with a better-than-average voice.
That's stretching it for me :wacky:

That's my point, 76% of the vote for singing more than a few shakey notes and giving a rather dull performance? xD

I know, it's sad, but it still doesn't make me think it's right :wacky:

The standard of singers is high, although Nat does drag it down a little, but Shaun and Greg is awesome, plus Susan >_>.

Why does everyone vote for Susan when she can get fame with record dealers and the like? Votes are for saying which act deserves fame and has really got talent.

Dancers and singers are not really talent (sorry guys) cos anybody can do that, couldn't you?

You're right Sabriel. I've been especially disappointed this year with how unvaried that talent's been. Piers was right on Monday, it's supposed to be a VARIETY show. Shaun should have tried auditioning for the X Factor -__- that ventriloquist was great, able to sing like that without even opening his mouth!

^ I beg your pardon, but who do you think you are lmao? @ Sabriel

Do you know how LONG it can take for people to develop such a voice, to develop such spotless choreography? Months, YEARS - and it IS a talent!

Anyone can do ANYTHING if they put their mind to it and do training >_>

you're misunderstood. what I'm saying is that anyone can dance and sing, but singers can just enter x-factor, and maybe dancers, well, it is a talent, and there should be another comp. for them to compete in. anybody ca claim to be a dancer tbh.

And this is half of the reason I try not to watch reality T.V programmes, especially contests..... there is always a wiff of "coaching" or fixing of some of the results in these contests, where the person whom would make the producers the most money comes out on top....

Look how many times there phone voting has been brought under scrutany, right back to the days of pop idol and the first contest, the media and Mr Cowell will always back the one that will make them the most money in a short period of time, and will do whatever it takes to try brainwash the public with overhype to get them throwing there votes.

I also could not agree more, the most annoying aspect of britain's got talent is it has very little to do with talent.....its YET another singing contest, with a few different acts here nor there....

They really should rename the programme to Simon's Fat Wallet, because at the end of the day, thats all the contest is about....

Ugh.....and when you think its all over......big brother is coming back on the telly again soon.....more tripe ><

what do we pay for a T.V licence for again? :P

I didnt liek them ones with all the red face paint, the literally just looked liek they were jumping around on the spot, I liked the first 2 girls though all in pink and cake throwing xD

Flawless are my fave dance act so far though :ryan:

EDIT* LOL at the Big Brother comment, my heart sank when I saw the adverts for it xD

That's one thing I said a wee while ago...I hoped she didn't get in to the semi-finals purely because we know she'll come out with a deal anyway, and would've ended up at the RVS, so why not continue the comp without her and put 2 people forward?

Shaun should have tried auditioning for the X Factor -__-

I'm rather mixed about all this.

On the one hand I agree that some of the talented singers and dance acts that appear here would not do very well on X-Factor, due to not fitting the age criteria, or the image criteria etc.

But on the other I'm fed up of singers and dancers winning BGT as the potential of the show, and some of the incredible and unique acts that enter it, is so much higher than a singer winning it again.

I'd be happy if they banned singers and dancers, or at least singers, from the next BGT and focused on the weird and wonderful, crazy stuff that people come up with. I admit that that would be a blow for some of the singers that probably wouldn't go very far in X-Factor, and that would be a shame for them, but I'd rather see an interesting act do well.

Susan Boyle is talented etc, and it was quite amazing seeing her performance in her audition etc, but I'd much rather see another kind of performance win. One that is really entertaining funny or weird, not just talented.

That's the potential of BGT. Wasted I say.

No offense, but if the rest of the different acts that applied were actually good at what they did, then, we'd have more variety tbqh :wacky:

well, singers have their own competition, the x-factor, but shouldn't dancers have one as well? they're both really alike, and any person can claim to be one, AND there are huge no.s of them! right?

actually I did watch it I think last year when there was an impersinator on, he was very good at his impressions and he could actually sing while doing an exact impression of someone singing, he got dumped out in the semi finals and he was easily good enough to win it.

The problem was there was much too hype behind the singers and dancers As Always.

if they want it to be a singing and dancing contest....call it Britains got Musical Talent, till then give the other acts a damn chance, because people are sick of watching the 1000th rendition of some take that song or some shit....

just my 2 1/2 pence

I'm sorry but I thoroughly disagree with this. Not anybody can sing or dance. This actually DOES require natural talent in most cases. People can be trained and trained and trained and never actually be able to thoroughly learn how to carry a proper tune or do specific dance moves. That's why people in this world with those special talents are unique all in their own way. Not anybody can just drop everything, stand up in front of people, sing their hearts out and touch every heart that listens to them. A prime example of this is one of my best friends. His name is Joe. He has extraordinary musical talent when it comes to playing the drums and guitar. He's been to singing lessons before, but he just can't hack it. The man cannot carry a tune to save his life. So no, I'm sorry, but not anybody can just sing or dance. It requires real talent, which not everybody in this world possesses.

i had singing lessons when I was younger and I still can't sing....strangled cat springs to mind, Ive got bog all coordination either so dancing is out fo the question too, even if I was trained...Id j ust fall on my arse tbqh, last time I remember being taught something was the Thriller Dance in Primary school, now THAT would have got me through to the semis :ryan:

But yeah, I agree not EVERYONE can sing and dance even with training, Im a good example of tht :ness:

I think dancing with your own choreography counts as talent if you promote it as own choreographed, but copying someone else is not really anything special, unless, of course, either you do something unique, or you did better than the person.

So should Susan :wacky:
She wouldn't have done half as well, if she'd have done so people would realize the singers around her would be much better and also could adapt their voices to a variety of songs, whereas, she most likely couldn't. At the end of the day, like someone has most likely touched on, if she couldn't cut it in the Xfactor then how exactly is she the most talented? >.>

if they want it to be a singing and dancing contest....call it Britains got Musical Talent, till then give the other acts a damn chance, because people are sick of watching the 1000th rendition of some take that song or some shit....

-
(Street Dancers)

Shaun Smith - (Singer)
Stavros Flatley - (Greek/Irish comedy dance duet)
Susan Boyle - (Singer)

At the end of the day over 2 series, 12 out of 16 acts in the final of the first two series have been either singers or dancers (and all of them are so far in the 3rd series), with 5 of 6 of the top 3 in both series again being singers or dancers. Whilst I'll admit, you obviously have to have some sort of talent to get to the final, the fact is 12 of 16 acts have been either singers or dancers, which sums the show up really. Although, saying singers/dancers don't have talent is somewhat stretching it by a distance as all the famous bands you know wouldn't be there if it weren't for their talent. :wacky:

Some of the singers are to young to apply for X-factor though you have to be 14+ to appy for X factor so Britians got talent is another option for them
