How many of you have had/have braces? Did you hate them? Just find them annoying? Did you think they were worth it, or not worth the trouble? Do tell us, please.
 
I had to have braces when I was 13 til 15. Those horrible bloody tram track ones. I hated them. It felt like I constantly had toothache >_<
Once they got removed I got given one of those retainer efforts. I never wore it tho so I have 2 small gaps on either side where my teeth should actually be together but meh, they look fine.
Im glad I had them in the long run though, altho my teeth werent wonky I just had too many for my gob so they had to remove afew then the braces were jsut used to close up the gaps. The wire always seemed to poke me on the inside of my cheek. It sucked

I dont have any pictures from that period, It made me quite self concious >_<
 
Fortunately, I never had to wear braces. They look painful...

Nowadays, I'd prefer wearing those nifty invisible mouthpieces. Not sure how well they work, but they look more comfortable.
 
I had a mouth peice thingy for my bottom teeth when I got my retainer, it felt weird. I jut kept biting on it. Then it snapped in half so I never wore that either lol
 
I have Braces atm, Hate em, had them now for 3 years almost. They really hate my gums too cause they are overlaping my teeth so i might need braces. I dont floss alot either so...
 
It broke? Those things must be pretty fragile.

Aren't there strips that can be placed over teeth to help realign them? Or maybe that's for making them more white.
 
I've never had braces, but I had to have retainers (weird, I know). I had a gap in my two front teeth, and the dentist said a retainer would close it better than braces. They were very annoying, and I absolutely hated them! If was such a bother having to clean them, and my friends always got grossed out when I took them out at lunch... I suppose they were worth it though, because my teeth are all nice and straight now! no gaps XD
 
I have no idea, but yeah it was just some peiec of plastic crap, I couldn't wear it when eating and I never wore it anyway, I just went for a check up and stuffed itin pretending I was wearing it then as I left I bit down on it and it snapped in half. I hated the way it felt. It's making my teeth feel funny just thinking about it
 
From what i hear, Retainers are even worse then the braces, which atm i dont see possible. I hate these braces soo much right now i just hope to get them off, and i really dont want to get surgry on my gums :sad:
 
I have braces, and I just got them adjusted a couple days ago so I can only chew with my back teeth. Which is too bad, because I really like sandwiches.

That's ALL I have to say about that. Not wearing the retainers makes the teeth go right back to how they were. My teeth would be perfectly straight if I actually wore my retainers. xD
 
I've had braces over a year now, hate 'em. >.<

Didn't even need them *that* bad in the first place, only to move ONE tooth. ONE!!! At the back aswell. ¬_¬

They usually only hurt after they have been tightened, and I have to live off a diet of soup and yoghurt for a week. :monster: They do get annoying especially when food gets stuck which means I have to swish my mouth with water after every bite >.< It also makes eating certain things quite difficult =(


 
I broke one on my little block thingies eating black pool rock, that was fun >_< I hated having them tightened although my mum always took pity on me and bought me something which was good
 
i never had braces my dentist said i dont need them but i am a mouth clean freak though i know its bad to brush your teeth a lot but i hate having the taste of Something in my mouth
 
I had braces when I was 15 for about 6 months. They were fixed, that was a nightmare as I wanted removeables. However my brother had removeables, puked up and they popped out! So I should be thankful for having fixed ones!

I can attest to this, kiddos. The thing's a complete pain in the ass, but you'd regret not wearing them as per recommendation by your dentist.

I was negligent of mine after having the tram-track braces, and it screwed my lovely teeth up completely. Now that I'm out of full-time education and working, I'm going to have to fork out shit loads to get it fixed. Ah, hindsight... curse thee!
