Board Games

So which is your most favorite board game while growing up? xD I'm sure we all have one, so let's hear it.

I'm gonna go with the ultimate Monopoly! It's such a long game though that I don't think I've ever actually finished a game although it was close. =/ We also had this NBA board game that I played with my brother all the time.

Now, I don't know about you guys but I couldn't stand Candyland. >.< I played it once and the whole time I thought, "Well this is dumb." Maybe because I was already 11 by then...

Game of Life was also pretty cool, but I think the whole time we weren't really taking it seriously since the prospect of "having children" just made us kiddies laugh.

But anyway, I've set up a voting poll for the games I can think of at the moment so vote away!

As I said in the shoutbox earlier, Monopoly is truly epic.

I like some other strategy-type board games too (Risk, Malarky, etc.), but Monopoly is a timeless classic, and I will love it forevar. I haven't played Life in a long time, it had an interesting concept. Perhaps I should play it again.

I actually played this one board game once called Axis and Allies. It's like a hyper-complicated Risk, and it took almost 30 minutes just to set up! After playing for 4-odd hours, me and my friends just gave up out of exhaustion.

I don't think I really hate any board games, there are just some that I prefer more than others. A board game that requires strategic thought is much superior to something like, say, Candy Land. =P

OMG! How did you not think of Snakes and Ladders?!!!!!!

That was my favourite board game, it was so intense, just as you thought you were going to win that big snake at the top would put you down to the bottom, it was such a competitive game.

I'd say Monopoly comes 2nd but if you play with a bunch of people who are impatient and have a short attention span the game becomes boring D:

I used to play board games all the time when I was younger. Monopoly, Cluedo, Snakes & Ladders, Frustration... It's hard to pick a favourite and I've probably missed some out anyway. <_< Monopoly was great but got kind of boring after a while.. usually when certain siblings would lose their patience and start to throw strops. D: Cluedo was always lots of fun though, I always went as Miss Scarlet. xD

Forgot about Battleship aswell... and Scrabble. Although I don't think I've ever played Scrabble with the proper rules, I never kept count of the points. <_< Mind you, it's been yearsss since I played.

Chess is also up there, but my mind would hurt after awhile...and I absolutely HATE losing, even though I try to tell myself, "It's just a game, it's just a game, relax." Next thing you know I get pissed and although I try so hard not to show it, my brother would know and would always taunt me whenever we play, which pisses me off more. >.>

Lol one time I won though and he flung the chess pieces across the room. Now that made me smile.

All I can think of is Dane Cook's skit on Monopoly...

I'm not very good at Chess. I only think about 3 moves ahead, and if I try to think more than that, the game takes way too long, or I miss something and lose. I really LOVE Monopoly. Even though that takes about 4 hours, it's very engaging, and can get a little interesting when you're at the point where you need to start making deals with the other players. All I can think of is Dane Cook's skit on this... I've edited out the profanity.

I love Monopoly, although I get really competetive with it haha

I hardly ever lose and if I do I well sulk. It reminds me oalot of growing up when all the mums would go out, Mel & Neil would be looking after us all at Bevs house and we'd either play Monoply or cards. Good times

I also like Game of Life, havent played that for donkies, I used to love it

Monopoly rules. I don't think I've ever played a complete game of it, but it's still my favorite. After about ten minutes of playing, I usually end up stealing money from the bank when no one's looking.

I couldn't afford landing on Boardwalk once my brother put hotels up, so I needed a little extra help. Stickin' it to the man, dammit!

My favorite game is Monopoly. Whenever I play with my friends, it usually takes up 4 hours to play, and we just have a lot of fun with it. I've never won before, and I'm one of those that go by all the rules. I even have it for the computer.

I alway's play Settlers of catan when I'm with friends.
I don't know if anyone else know's it. I once played it so long during new years, we forgot to count down. All of a sudden we were like "hey why are they already lighting fireworks?"
That's how addictive it can get.

Scrabble's excellent! I once got a 15 letter word with 3 triple word squares. I got 1000ish points ¢[=-). Risk draws 2nd with chess.
