Which Blue Mages did you like best? Do you even like the Blue Mage characters or their abilities?
  • Kimahri
  • Quistis
  • FFX-2 (Rikku, Paine, Yuna)
  • Quina

Include the FFTA Blue Mages, plz.

I prefer the Blue Mage from FFTA. He has an extended amount of spells that are very useful. But on the side of combat, though he has a sword, he is rendered comepletely useless. And Sadly.. He doesn't have any convenient offensive magic. >_>

But Quistis' Shockwave Pulsar was pretty awesome. 8D

I loved Quistis' Degenerator. haha.

Urmm...what is FFTA? Tactics Advanced?

I found Quistis' Blue Mage abilities to be 10x better than Kimahri's.

Quina falls in there too, FYI...

EDIT: Also Gau, I guess

But I'm not really sure. I think Blue Mages are one of the best job classes in the FF world but they're always way too weak. No one is a strong blue mage, as they should be. It's such an untapped source of pure freaking awesome... and it shouldn't be. I honestly don't know who I'd go with because all of them are really my least favorite characters given the game their in... and FFX-2 just sucks all around. :/

What can I say, this is my worst colur mage. I love white mages and think blue magic is pointless.

Then you don't appreciate the value of magic itself. Blue magic is far from pointless.

Quina is my favourite. With Quistis, you have to meet certain requirements to use her magic. With Kimahri, again, you need to meet certain requirements to use his magic. As for the X-2 options, I thought they were pretty good. The Gun Mage was one of my favourite dresspheres.

Quina ftw though. Cheap MP costs, huge spell-variety, and pretty decent power/effects for whatever spell was used. Quina is by far the most tactically useful, in my opinion.

I will have to say Quina, her blue magic was very useful at times, especially Limit Glove, and also as a character, she provided some charming and funny moments in the game. Also the way she acquired her blue magic was cool, eating enemies when they were weak, her trance sucked though, i didn't really like Quistis, she didn't have any real characteristics of a blue mage, (if there are any?) she was just another character, except she could do a bit of blue magic.....

Couldnt have said it better myself, dude. I'd say VII did the best job with blue magic. Everyone could be a blue mage with that Enemy Skill materia, and the skills you learned actually kicked ass! Big Guard, White Wing, and Magic Hammer were lifesavers, Matra Magic was really helpful early on, and then Beta, Trine, Aqualung, Magic Breath, Shadowflare, and Pandora's Box just plain owned.

Quina fails as a blue mage. Mighty Guard is absolute crap, it lasts about 2 turns then dissipates and it costs so much MP. The only useful enemy skill Quina could learn was Earth Shake.

10 kickass skills with cheap MP costs >>> 1 kickass skill with decent MP cost

If Gau counts I'll choose him. If you get the right skills he's awesome. At some points, he was my most powerful character in the game.

Ugh...this is a hard decision. Blue mages are always my least used characters. FFIX had an interesting blue mage to say the least, but the amount of skills that s/he had were minuscule.
The only move of Quistis' that I liked was Shockwave Pulsar.
Kimahri...I never really used him. He basically just resembles the cookie monster in every way shape and form.

My favorite blue mage type would be Gau. His attacks were very decent in terms of damage dealt.

I actually liked YRP's Gun Mage Abilities. It was quite useful, IMO.

Quistis' blue mage abilities were useful if you knew what to use. Degenerator is quite useful.

Degenerator is quite useful.
Yesss....Degenerator was the best. It helped get to level 100 in no time.

As for blue mages, I liked Quistis and Quina the best. Both of them had instant death spells. Quina's Level 5 Death was useful against Grand Dragons. Both characters had White wind and Might guard which were helpful in tough bosses.

Quistis's shockwave pulsar did some heavy damage. Mystery Fluid was useful when you ran out of melt-down spells. Other than that, most of Quistis blue magic was weak.

Quina had better spells than Quistis. Quina had a good amount of elemental spells that did decent damage. Also it had status spells such as heat and freeze. Not to mention Quina had Auto-Life.

I can't say anything about Kimahri or Gau, I didn't play them. :/

I'd rather just deal alot of damage with something like Quadra Breath than cast Lv 5 death and hope the enemy's level is a multiple of 5. Mighty Guard is worthless, it lasts around two turns and IX is easy enough to where you dont need it in the first place.

Quina's only good elemental spell (that i discovered, anyway) was Earth Shake. And also...who actually uses status spells against enemies? <.<

Kimahri had weak spells for the most part. Gau i couldnt say because i never use him.

It's been three years since I played FFIX, gimme a break. ;/ As for Quistis mighty guard, it was rather useful during some bosses.

I used Level 5 Death to speed level my characters in FFIX during disk three. I rather not waste my time on a Grand dragon or get killed by it.

My point was: Quina had better elemental spells than Quistis. Quistis had terrible elemental spells like Fire missiles which barely did any damage.

And also...who actually uses status spells against enemies? <.<

I do. Some of them do actually help against certain monsters and bosses.

Grand Dragons are boring. Shock + Blizzaga + anything else = dead. And three years? O_O Lordy, that's a long time!

Fire missles? o__O Okaaaay, thats kinda lame. Only good missile spell was Matra Magic in VII.

I do. Some of them do actually help against certain monsters and bosses.
Actually i forgot about fighting Lich at the Shrine. Quina's bad breath inflicts him with Darkness and Mini, top that off with some Feather Boots and it's pretty much impossible to die.

On disk three before you went around fighting the four bosses, Grand dragon was the best to level from. Other monsters didn't give as much exp.

I have a life now. -_-

Only good missile spell was Matra Magic in VII.

Basically, yes, but that was in FFVII.

Hahaha

You forget that Kimahri has all these moves.

He has an instant death move. Thrust Kick. He has mighty guard and stone breath. I found his Overdrives to be the most powerful.

I found it lame that his blue mage abilities could only be used in his overdrive format...

EDIT: Are you a blue mage? Only when I'm mad? What? Exactly!

Wait...That's how Quistis was too. She could only use them During Limit Break.

Only person(s) I know that could use blue mage skills in regular battle is YRP - Gun Mage.
