Hi everyone i am new here and i would like to ask you sumthing... i was thinking for my self da otha day and i wasn thnking is it posible for square enix to be able to make a game based on da Blitzball in final fantasy X and X-2,,, i mean for example make a game where you can create a team and then go to different tournaments and buy or scoute for new talents and within that there will be a story in it which will make the whole thng a bit more fun to play...i enjoyed to play the blitzball in X-2 and spend a lot of time improving my players soo i thought that might be a good idea,,,

what do you guys think of it... this is sumthing i was thnkg bout and wanted my fellow FF friends opinion and views.
 
Welcome to Final Fantasy Forums! I think that's a great idea. It's pretty imaginative, and it sounds like the Grand Battle mode in Custom Robo, my favorite platform game.
 
hey gary thx... yeah that was a gd game and the reason i came up with the idea was because i liked teh way you cooud improve the skills of your players in blitzball and all that soo i thought maybe have a huge story driven game which is based on blitzball and have different main characters like normal final fantasys...it dosent have to be as gd as the normal final fantasys u knw but just sumthuing that i wud enjoy playing and spend time on
 
Welcome! Interesting idea. I personally think that it would be tricky to pull off. Sports games today are notorious to do well -- granted your proposed game would have the benefit of being able to invent its own rules and not to have to conform too closely to any real world example. However, in FFX you could already play in league and in tournaments, sign new players, and improve their skills, so I don't know what else would be included in your new game. Maybe you could elaborate some more on what exactly the story would be. I think its a good start to an idea, it just needs to be fleshed out a bit. Unfortunately, the only similar idea I can think of resulted in Harry Potter and the Quidditch World Cup, which was less than stunning in my opinion

I think it could be pretty sweet, it doesn't sound like a game that I'd pay 50 or 60 bucks for, even with a story, so it'd depend heavily on the price. Interesting idea though, I enjoyed playing blitzball in FFX; didn't even know you were able to in X-2, I only got halfway through it before losing interest.

I couldnt see it bein a problem, we already have games like fifa and nfl etc
Theyd need to do a lot of work on it though, blitz in x wasnt up to a high enough standard. The gameplay would need to be faster, no stopping when u want to throw the ball or take a shot at goal. I think the atk, end etc would have to go aswell in favour of a more normal way for retrieving the ball off an opponent.
I dont think id buy it if it came out tbh, the only sports games i like are fifa and pro evo soccer. Blitz should stay as a mini game.
 
Hmmm. Interesting idea there. IMO I don't think it's quite feasible. Firstly I must confess I'm quite a fan of Blitzball, and love it during the course of FFX as a fun side quest. But having said that, I don't find the mechanics of Blitzball as attractive when it's being developed alone as a game and carrying a 50 to 60 bucks price tag. For a sports game to be really successful, sound mechanics(Of the game) and a popular following already are quite crucial. And the other important characteristic which Blitzball lacks is the star power of real life sports athletes. I thought that is quite impt in a sports game development, controlling your favourite athlete in a game is a desirable addition if you ask me.

Honestly, I can only see some hardcore FFX fans or loyal FF series fans who would buy a standalone Blitzball game.
 
It was pretty much a game in its own right in X anyway - the hours you dedicate to it. So I don't see why it couldn't be a stand alone game. It shouldn't be like anymoe than 20 quid though, and it should be on PSP or summat....not that'd I'd buy it, I bloody hated Blitzball. It was FAR too boring
 
I felt that Blitzball was more of a chore than anything. But I guess they could make it its own game. I don't really see them fleshing out to being much more than it is, so I think that a possible Blitzball game would be cell-phone bound. Maybe a portable console as Sandy suggests if it were to be broadened a bit.
 
thx guys for ur comment now that i think bout it i kinda understand i wudnt give 40 £ to a game like that but what i think is that it wud be a good addition to a game hehe makes the game a bit more interesting like the X-2 game or X....but as a standalone game it wud kinda be boring..
 
I've also been thinking this. I can see them having Blitzball as its own game. Blitzball was one of my favourite parts of Final Fantasy X and i would love to see it in more detail. I loved the prizes in it and it was so worth all the hours of playtime. I can't see it on the PS3 but possibly on one of the handheld systems for sure. I think they could add more teams and features to it that could make it even better!
 
I can't see them making Blitzball it's own game, unless it was for like the PSP or something. Simply because I don't really see how they could expand on it more than they already did in FFX. It was huge - tournaments, leagues and just matches for fun, if I remember correctly. So, I don't really see how they could expand on that any further >_>

And, it might not be as successful as they'd want it to be, as opinions on Blitzball are pretty much love/hate, If I recall correctly.
 
Yea blitzball is a good mini game but it would never work as a whole game. I loved it in FFX untill my scorer hit level 50 and no team could touch me anymore.
 
I think it is a good idea! If i were SQUARE-ENIX i would give it a title: Final Fantasy Blitzball! ; ]]
But they dont make that kind of game ;p i feel sorry for thata :(
With nice Storyline and voice acting and system it would be better then all of that kind of games like 'FIFA09" etc.
