Konami announces Blades of Time for PS3 and Xbox 360

Konami seemed to have forgotten to reveal one of their new projects during their pre-E3 press conference. Blades of Time, a new hack-and-slash title, is in development by X-Blades maker Gajin Entertainment.

The title continues the adventures of X-Blades protagonist Ayumi, who plays a gunsword-wielding treasure hunter, out on a quest for bounty on an exotic and dangerous island.

The title will offer more than 40 different sets of melee skills and tactics, on top a bevy of magical skills. It’ll will also come with both co-op and competitive multiplayer support.

Konami’s released a teaser trailer for the game to get you excited. Watch it below.

Update#1

Birds of Steel isn’t the only game Gaijin Entertainment are developing for Konami. They’re also working on a hack-and-slash game titled Blades of Time, starring Ayumi, a treasure hunter. Ayumi finds herself stuck on a possessed island while searching it for treasure, and discovers it has special powers that she can take for herself.

Wait, Ayumi? That’s the name of the girl in X-Blades, and Gaijin Entertainment worked on that title, too. Yes, Blades of Time sounds like a successor to the game.

Konami say Blades of Times will have huge locales, including jungles, snow areas, ancient cities, temples and sky islands. You’ll have over 40 sets of skills to choose from, spanning melee, tactics, combos, and Order and Chaos magic.

You’ll also be able to perform a cool-sounding “Time Rewind” move that allows Ayumi to produce a clone of herself to help solve puzzles and take down enemies. There’s a dash ability to help you quickly close the distance between yourself and your opponents, too. Finally, Konami say Blades of Time has both cooperative and player vs. player multiplayer modes.

Blades of Time is in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Konami are targeting a 2012 release.

The hack and slash game features a Time Rewind system which allows the player to clone themselves and travel back in time to attack enemies and solve puzzles.

Here’s the game synopsis: “In Blades of Time, players don the persona of the gorgeous treasure hunter, Ayumi. Deadly with both guns and swords, Ayumi finds herself in a remote land of lush trees and majesticlandscapes. On the hunt for treasure, she quickly learns that she’s not alone on this island. Armed with her dual katanas and arsenal of rifles, she’ll do battle with gargoyles, monsters and various sinister forces to uncover the secrets of this dangerous place. As carves a path of destruction through Dragonland, she accumulates more powers and better weaponry that make for a thrilling and rewarding game experience.”

Key Features include:

  • Richly entertaining characters. From the young yet tough Ayumi to her wise and battle worn mentor Zero and more, this character-driven story has a unique charm, banter and mystery all to its own.
  • Lushly designed environments. Experience huge and beautifully realized game locations, including snowy lands, jungles, ancients cities, temples and sky islands.
  • Deep combat system. Unlock 40+ sets of skills, including melee, tactics, combos, as well as the powerful Order and Chaos forms of magic to defeat your foes.
  • Special moves change up gameplay: Time Rewind allows Ayumi to turn back time and produce a clone of herself to help solve puzzles, tackle hordes of enemies, and more; All-new Dash ability means Ayumi can close the distance between herself and her enemy prey almost instantly, as well as travel quickly using environmental features.
  • Play with a friend. Play co-op or versus in a special multiplayer mode.
A trailer for it is below.

Blades of Time did ok, It was better than X Blades since I took that game back cause I couldnt get into it, At least I was able to finish this title. Storylin could have been better but I care far more about other thingsthan thestory so I didnt really care. combat was ok alon with the skill system, Its not too hard to use actually. I didnt like havingto break the enemys shield alot through the game since it was annoying and using time shift I really hated it. But somehow once you get used to and focus on finishing the game its less annoying. I didnt mind blades of time I just wished that when I got the game their where people in the multiplayer cause the servers where dead when came lol
