Age of Empires, perhaps? The first two games are the definitive RTS games on the PC, in my opinion. I was very fond of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (and Empire at War, to a lesser extent) but...yeah. The original Age of Empires was, and still is, undeniably awesome.
Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun, as well. I know the Red Alert games are more popular, but I love Tiberian Sun ♥
A Worms game, perhaps...after all...Super Sheep, Concrete Donkey, Holy Hand Grenade, Baseball Bat, awesomely random accents...can't go wrong with Worms.
I currently have the original disc and cases for Age of Empires 1 & 2, fallout 1 & 2 and Tactics, Dungeon Siege, and a myriad of other classic PC games
No love for Blizzard-- Vivendi-- Blizzard-- Blizzard North-- Whatever name they are currently using?
While there are obviously a buttload of RTS's out there, it's my understanding that War 3 / FT and Star BW / Star2 are the definitions and yardsticks of what RTS's should be.
I don't see Baldur's Gate anywhere there. Must I send Boo after your eyes? Jump on my sword while you can evil. I won't be as gentle! It is by far the best PC game out there, with enough to keep you busy for almost 100 hours (not exaggerating either).
My 'Best of an Era', comprises of such:
1.> Baldur's Gate series (Baldur's Gate, Tales of the Sword Coast, Shadows of Amn, Throne of Bhaal)
2.> Myst series (Myst, Riven, Exile, Revelation, Uru, End of Ages)
