best music in game?

Have to say I love Rose of May though the whole soundtrack is some of Nobou's best work. Kate Covington wrote some wonder lyrics to this track.

I wrote the lyrics to this beautiful theme from FF9 and worked very hard arranging this song for voice, harp, guitar, various drums, and recorder! I performed all the instrumental parts in the background and am doing all the vocals. - katthethegreat19

LYRICS:

her heart underneath
cries quietly
this part of me
I choose not to see

what lives must I take
for fealty's sake?
how much blood must stain
this warrior's blade?

war leaves its trail
in moonlight so pale
its shadows they flow
in rivers, in rivers
so put on my mask
I'll go where they ask
so I might once again see the
Roses of May

Staining my soul and stinging my eyes
the red on my hands
won't wash away, wash away
no where to run from what I have done
I'm no longer, no longer
a Rose of May

fate holds the blade before you
mirrored in maiden's eyes
far from myself I fly
into the perilous skies
and they said
follow the blade before you
fear fall and courage rise
leave all your tears behind you
far from where innocence lies

Cage of the kings
No need for wings
So turn them to stone
from roses to bone

when you look at me
what do you see?
this costume I weave
disfiguring me...

(chorus A)

Storm clouds are creeping closer
danger is drawing near
why am I not protecting all that
I once held dear?
and you said
break free from all that holds you
kings hand and maiden's tear
run now into my arms
together we'll conquer our fears

Led here by fate
No longer afraid
So here now I lay
My Roses of May

Final Fantasy IX has to be my favorite FF, but I only have a select few tracks that I really love:

- Garnet's Song/Song of Memories/Song from her Memory, whatever it's called, it's so simple and lovely. I made my own piano arrangement and I play it for my parents, they love it too.
- Loss of Me (Beatrix's Theme), need I say why? :P
- Beatrix and Steiner's Battle Theme
- Eternal Harvest
- Battle Theme :3
- Run! I always love the songs that make you feel so panicky and time pressured.

The one with the vocals- I can't remember the name but it's on my MP3 player, and I just think it's so sweet :)

This game does have a very interesting OST. I'd have to say my favorite songs was either Crystal World or the final boss battle. I'm a melody junkie and this song soothes my craving for the liking. I love drawing to it. The final boss battle because how unique the presong and the rest is (though my grandma can't stand the sound of the people moaning.).

melodies of life :)

epic song :)

So hard to choose, It's all amazing! But I absolutely love FFX's soundtrack, It's got loads of fast paced action music and then some really calm ones, it's lovely and I must admit I sometimes go on youtube just to listen to them!

I really like Melodies of life, but have to mention some others too:

Kuja's theme
Battle theme
Vamo' alla Flamenco
Vivi's theme
Over the hill
and other :)

My favorite song was the Trance Kuja Battle Theme it's very slow at the start but about a minute in it get's really good. I love that song when fighting Kuja cause it take's me about a minute to cast a couple of spell's like protect and haste so as am about to really start fighting the music change's. It has to be one of the best song's for a boss battle.

I don't think that game had any bad music I did think that Melodies Of Life, Vivi's Theme and a couple other's were very good but I think that the Trance Kuja Battle Theme was the best.

Best song was the You Are Not Alone song, suited the moment so well in the game when Zidane secludes himself from the party.

Also like the Black Mage Village music - it was jammy

Hard to say, really. IX had a beautiful soundtrack.

I've always really loved the opening theme. "Melodies of Life", is it? It has a soothing quality to it, and it always makes me think of some distant, serene place of sorts. Great music.

I even liked the "Overworld Map" music a lot. It too gave off a sort of calming feel that made making the long hauls across the field not so bad.

Both themes also had portions of the score that felt as though they were complying with some great destination you were to reach, as well. Hard to explain, but basically, I guess it could be said that they felt inspiring.

The other one that I really enjoyed was the regular battle theme. Not much to say about that one; it just sounded cool.

i got to admit.... i dn what made it great but the battle theme for the game was just great :)

I loved Freya's theme and Burmecia. Melodies of Life is also among my favorites on the FF9 music list. To be honest, it's rather hard choosing between all of them because there's so much great music, but those are my top 3.

"Mage vs. Mage", the song that plays when Black Waltz No. 3 attacks the airship and throws the black mages overboard while Vivi watches.

This is one track that I still can't forget, even though it's extremely short and was only used in one scene. It's so beautiful (especially the beginning piano part).
