Beatrix Based On Celes?

does anyone else think that beatrix is a lot like Celes?

They're both generals in an empire who turn good,
They're both awesome with magic and the sword
They're both blonde (well Beatrix is blondish)
They both have capes XD
They both appear to be stoic at first but soften with time
Beatrix weilds save the queen - while in FFVIA Celes' ultimate weapon is save the queen....

so what do you think? Is Beatrix a tribute to Celes seeing as how FFIX was basically a tribute to every FF ^_^

Hummm...there might be some similarities but i don´t think Beatrix is a tribute to Celes, simply because Celes is miles ahead from Beatrix!

Celes from the begining understands that she is on the wrong side and her attitude only changes to the fact that she becomes more of a leader!

Beatrix on the other hand...what can i say?

She is not stoic...actually she acts like a cold murderer until the end of the first CD and part of the second one as well...

In other words...her hole change of heart did not convince me at all and i think she should have actually died as an enemy boss and nothing more...

Forgive me if i sound harsh but that´s my opinion and the fact that i don´t like Beatrix as a character...

On the other hand i do agree they are both generals although Celes is a much better magic user...she can use all types of magic while Beatrix can only use mid-level white magic i believe!
 
Beatrix's change of heart isn't completely random. She is only protecting her Queen and following orders; it's exactly what she's done for a large part of her life, just like Steiner. However, when she learns that Queen Brahne meant to kill Garnet, her sense of loyalty was divided, and she followed the path of protecting Garnet. She even healed Garnet in Alexandria Castle after Kuja did something to her.
 
well suppose theyre similar but beatrix definately has brown hair.lol
also i think beatrix is more rock and roll than celes
 
I think it probably is another reference to the past FF's, seeing as IX has them all over the place. The only difference being that I actually liked Beatrix (a little) whereas I couldn't stand Celes.
 
Cool coincidence I think; one I never picked up on or tried to relate.

I think the biggest one is that they both started out confused and used, but in the end the turn good and ultimately help in returning the world to peace and control.
 
Well IX does pay tribute to the earlier games. So yeah Beatrix is probably based on of Celes and Zidane is based off of Locke.
 
I have never thought Beatrix and Celes similarity but it makes sense since FFIX is full of references to other FF-games.

But have any of you ever thought this:
Amarant Coral and Eiko Carol being reference to Shadow and Relm and i hope you know what is the deal with Shadow and Relm.
 
Even though Beatrix is brunette, it's still obvious that they have a lot of the same qualities. I think she is based off of Celes. ^____^
She seems very distant and coldhearted at first, but later on in the game, you see how sensitive she is.
