This is my second time playing the game but the first time I will be beating it. So, I beat the Gagazet gatekeeper in 4 turns or 3 hits. Tidus -> Hastega, Yuna -> summon(Bahamut -> overdrive), Auron -> Overdrive, Yuna -> summon(shiva -> overdrive).

I have found something out that has really been helping me throughout the later half of the game. I originally was buying 30 high potions at a time and fighting to level up. At ties, I would buy as much as 140 High potions. It gets expensive! Curing/healing my party during the fight/battle as needed and afterwards just to be sure i went into the next battle with full health.

I saved the game without healing or curing and apparently; Saving the game will restore everything. Even your Aeons health and magic. I "was" wasting tons of money on high potions that I didn't need. So I have been keeping close to a save orb before a big boss and doing some heavy leveling up! After everyone's overdrive is up and i have filled up 15-25 more grid spots; I will get Yuna's aeons into overdrive. I mean with hastega and Yuna having 5 or 6 Aeons, I have been blowing through bosses!!

Hopefully this will help someone who is having a hard time with the gatekeeper. Being that after 5 or so moves he starts healing himself with curaga anytime you do a decent amount of damage to him. I foud this out due to the fact that I was under the assumption that you could steal level 3 key sphere's from him. After I was done stealing from him I used bahamut's overdrive and it caused him around 25,000HP. He just healed up with curaga. A complete waste of Bahamut's overdrive and time. I had to restart my PS2 and do it again. This time in 4 moves.

I have used this technique to beats tons of bosses too.

Not so sure how I will do with Yunalesca though. I have read the wiki and she seems like she is going to be very tough!!!!!

Question: How much of the game is left? I just bought FFX-2 and want to start it but have to beat this first. I am extremely anxious!

Well if you wanna play straight through and not do any side quest... you are probably 90% done. if you want to include side quest and getting all the final weapons and things... 75-80%

Using aeons wasn't really big for me in any battles, except for when I was forced to. I feel that they become overpowered by the normal characters far too quickly to have any lasting value in the end.

As far as what you have left for the game: you pretty much just have Zanarkand, and the "epic finale" to follow after that. Of course, you still have some side quests and ect which open up as well. (I highly suggest taking advantage of them, if you're looking to get your party to the max. The monster arena and Omega Ruins can prove to be challenges, and good fun.)

That's why I would get them all into overdrives right before battle. I could use them one time with their overdrives. Bahamut deals 24,000HP. I mean without this
strategy, I wouldnt been able to beat a lot of the bosses as easily as I did. The gatekeeper for instance. I beat him in 4 moves. IMO, they are very handy! I do
agree, that they are otherwise useless.

Well, I have to get the rest of the destruction spheres I forgot. So I can get Anima and the other aeons. Then it's on to the ruins and monster arena.
