Right, so... I'll just be straight to the point with this one.

I feel really... really uncomfortable in them... I am not a paranoid person at all, but I simply refuse to go into a basement by myself. It's really not because of movies, or weird stories either...

Our basement, along with the other people living in the building, is one, really long, narrow hall... It has two entrances/exits. Basically the door which you enter, and then the door ALL the way across the damn long narrow hall...

It's got normal lighting, not too bright, not too dark, but of course, has that basement feel. Our damned basement, is the middle door in that hall... I find myself having trouble, walking in there alone, and I rarely do. I always feel really uncomfortable when my mom goes in there alone as well. =/ We have our stuff standing there, bikes and all, and she needs hers every morning. =/ I'd faint having to go in there every morning...

Basically, even with the 20 years of age, I still find myself running out, when I'm done with whatever, being extra quiet, and keeping that 'extra' eye on the all the other basement doors...

:gonk: I don't have an explanation for it... But trust me, I'm not one to freak out easily.

Do any of you have a fear for them...? Or not a 'fear' but feel really uneasy?

It doesn't have to be basements, it can be any kind of place that makes you feel uncomfortable.

And do you know why it does?

I always haved ever since I was little tbh. The house that I was living in (my dad) thought it was 'haunted' idunno if i'd call it a basement but along the lines of that. Everytime i'd go there I just felt like I was being watched O_O. I also have this thing on being alone so I MUST be with someone if im going into a place like that.
I heard that someone hung their selfs so maybe he was in the 'basement' >_< It's just straight up creepy to me I can't really say why (other then it being 'haunted') but ever since I just felt uneasy going inside.

I think I've got a little bit of fear for basements. Mostly because one night I was doing laundry, and the power went out. I had to feel around to get back upstairs and it was pretty scary.

However, I'd say more of my fear lies with hallways. It's quite a stupid fear, because you know nothing will ever happen to you, but I still have the fear of something coming up behind me. >_<

That fear is probably from all the scary movies and such like, though. I always run down my hallway to my room, because I don't want to stay in the hallway for longer than absolutely necessary. xD

I Dont have a fear of either of them, heck my room is the attic. Nice, has lots of space and everything.

I feel really uneasy outside in the day time, i tend to be alot more concious of my appearance in the day time since its easier for people to see you, even when im looking good i feel like i look like a bum or something and that everyones looking at me. So i tend to go out during sunset, night time, or when its gloomy. I also feel uneasy in dirty and messy places.

I dont know whats wrong with me.

I have a fear of the dark.

So it doesn't matter what room I happen to be in, if it's dark I'm shit scared.

I watch far too many scary movies and I even have a night light to help me sleep. My own boyfriend even bought it for me. XD

But I would say the place I fear the most is under my bed, or any bed for that matter.

I can't recall how many times I've seen scary movies in which something from under the bed reaches up and grabs you.

I always try to make sure to check under my bed before going to sleep otherwise I just can't sleep and I try to make sure that no limbs are hanging off the side of the bed in case a monster sees them and grabs onto them. <_<

Ive never liked basements, and Id never go inone alone either xD

I'm exactly the same with the loft as well, ive lived here 5 years and Ive never been in it. I won't go up there

I thin i ts just because its so dark, theres no natural light that gets in there at all. I dont like that you cant see the bottom of the stairs when you go in a cellar, like, itys usually just a narrow flight of stone stairs into pitch black and it scares the crap out of me xD

Ive never stayed in a house with a basement, just attics. They make me uncomfortable, too far high up, shudder. I guess basements are seen as scary things cause of horror movies and murder scenes, etc. You are trapped in a space with only one entrance and exit.

At my parents house, they have a fully finished basement. Basically if you're in the main room, it almost looks like a living room. You do get that basement look in the boiler and laundry rooms though. But I imagine it would be very difficult to have a fear of that basement.

But most conventional basements have the rock walls and the very saturated air. Being that it's below the house and feels uncomfortable is typically true. I think because it just has a different feel. Basements tend to have a mildew type smell as well because of the moist air. I've gotten used to basements in time, so being in them is actually nice to me. I actually like the change in environment when in a basement. Then again, maybe I'm a vampire. :brooding:

Yeah, when I was younger I hated basements and attics but that was because of big spiders that I wish I didn't know about. Now a days basements don't bother me as bad, although I still hate getting into the attic that have old rigid ladders. My grandparents had a spooky big house that was once a funeral parlor, built over 100 years ago in a very small town. I remember when I was younger I was terrified of their basement because turning on the light was hard to do and when it goes dark in their basement it goes pitch black. Another thing I hated was the fact there's a door that goes straight outside to the backyard, which leads out to an old cemetery and the outside door doesn't lock. Neither did the door inside, so breaking in through the basement would be an easy task. The boiler was in the basement but the basement itself was huge and empty and it had a dirt floor. The attic had spiral stairs that would take you to it, which I liked, I hated going on rigid ladders that felt like they're gonna break. The attic was big but crowded with lots of stuff. As I got older, basements and attics didn't bother me, although I still don't like spiders.
