Isn't -san for males too?

No, mostly just -kun is for males but you do see it used for females at times. There's a lot of girls who are referred to as *insert name here*-san.

-kun can also be used sometimes for girls, but it's not used that much.

I think it's if a male calls a girl Kun it's because they're close friends. I don't remember but Kun can be used to call a girl that at appropriate times. Possibly Kun is used on Tomboyish characters?

I'm not sure if I'm right, but I believe "kun" is used mostly for male children, "chan" for females and "sama" is for those who are older or of a higher rank than you.
