Ubisoft Montreal has announced the AC 2 sequel, and it will star Ezio Auditore, everybody's favorite vengeance filled assassin, and the game will have multiplayer, i am pretty psyched about this, however, it may not be AC 3, hence the reason its a spin-off, and obviously it'll take place right after Ezio's story in AC 2, but when the story end hes about 40, idont know how much more assassinating he could do, but hey, multiplayer, right?

Will "follow-up" the story. I don't know where else the story in Assassin's Creed II could go other than to Assassin's Creed III which is obviously going to focus on Desmond.
I suppose they could make a side story but still, it'd have to tie in with the original story and again, I don't know where it would go :S

I suppose I'll buy it if it's a console game, if it's a handheld I'll give it a miss.

I'd have to agree with Cid here.

My only guess would be something to do with Templars from abroad coming to Italy to try and clean up the mess when
Borgia was defeated
.

The multiplayer seems interesting. I wonder if you can fight other people or if it's co-op related. I can't see the current battle system being used for fighting other players, people would just wait to counterattack. :ness:

It'll be a console game at full price, and remember, Ezio's mother never did turn back to normal after the death of Ezio's brothers and father, and that he was a full assassin, there is a lot of places where the story could go if you think about it, maybe he uncle is murdered, or maybe he leaves italy and heads for spain to join the assassins, no possibilities can be ruled out right now

Someone did mention to me that from the ending there is defo a third game. I myself havent completed it yet, so please watch spoilers. I prefer Ezio as a lead character, so another game with him is good news to me.

Ezio was pretty badass, not to mention the next game will have a multiplayer mode, but i also agree Ezio was a good main character, and this isnt really much of a spoiler, but in one of the assassins tombs, there is a secret squid in the water

^ Loves Ezio Auditore

But in reality, coming from a second-rate history buff (CC is better than me in that department I think) The games ends in the year 1503, it is around that time that the Italian Wars between France and it's allies and Spain and it's allies are fighting for the influence over the Italian states (including Florence, Venice, Naples and the Papal States (aka Rome/Vatican) So if it is indeed a continuation of Ezio's story, I bet 9 out of 10 times it will deal with that.

it says for me the game ends in 1499, after everything in the end, the last animus memory goes to 1499 to collect anything the player has missed, i think my game was acting out

strange, I thought it ended in 1503
(that is actually when Pope Alex VI died)
but if it is 1499, then maybe I was wrong. :hmmm:

jeez this timeline is confusing. -__- All I know is that the game ends during the Italian Wars (which began in 1494 and ended in 1559.)

yes, all very confusing, and the fact that his mother hasn't talked in about 25 years seems very unrealistic, but i realize, its a game, it will never make sense, for the fact that history will sue Ubisoft
