I had nightmares about that. I kept thinking they were tapping on my window.

Mostly. Loads of tins and non-perishable stuff. Need some weapons as well.
Flamethrowers, no problem, all you need is a spray canister of something flammable and a lighter. Shotguns, well, not too hard to get ahold of. Rockets? Some modifications to fireworks ought to do the trick.
Improvised armoured vehicles... no problem. Though they probably wouldn't stand up to far superior weaponry, it's a good idea to have some sort of protection rather than nothing.
That said, we'd need a deep bunker or a submarine to stand a chance of survival.

An underwater base and submarines would be the best bet. Atlantis, anyone?

If they're hostile, they might come to eliminate us, at which point we're all screwed anyway, or they might come just to enslave us. Who knows?
