XBox Are you an achievement whore?

Also Mits, the longer you go on XLive, the more you'll become addicted to achievements and online play. :awesome:

Yes, it's kicking in. Yesterday all I can think about was playing TLR and getting a few achievements. I got one and I literally went "Oh yes, look honey I got an achievement! See?!" Lol and it was only for defeating 100 monsters. :awesome:

Some big achievement that was, but it excited me dammit!

I need to play more games. I'm gonna restart Tomb Raider: Anniversary just so I can get all the relics in Peru.

THREAD REVIVE :gasp:

Honestly, I couldn't care less about Achievements. I mean, they've got some fun novelty at first, I suppose...but I got bored with them pretty quickly. When I first got my 360, and I had Mass Effect, I spent a lot of time getting as many achievements for that game as I could, and this helped me enjoy the game.

That was a year ago, though...and I just can't be bothered anymore. I usually play the games just to play them, and when I see an achievement pop up I just say "oh" and keep going. :wacky:

Well, I've never gone out of my way to achieve something. It'd just happen while I'm playing the game, and I'm like "oh.. cool." However, I might start looking into mastering the achievements in the game I own, since I love the feeling when something's complete.

Hey there ^_^

Only just noticed this thread.

My GT is VegaNovus

I currently have Halo 3, Left 4 Dead & Resident Evil 5

Im planning on getting Fallout 3 + Fable 2

Add me if you got any of these games ;) :D

As far as achievements go, I generally play through the game once and then keep playing the game when I want the achievements.

Such as Resident Evil 5, I have all of the original achievements, apart from one, which is to complete the game on Professional mode, which is hard without a constant partner, as for versus, I only played it once and got 1 achievement :D but i'll probably play versus mode when I finish Professional mode :)

Sadly... yes.. i am an achievement whore... I see it as the higher your gamerscore is.. the more bragging rights you have.. but some people may just see it as that you have no life at all..... -cough cough- larxene -cough cough- lmao

Ever since I realized how to find out what certain achievements are, I've been like wanting them really badly. So I think I have become an achievement whore. Like, on Oblivion, I saw how easy most of the achievements were to get, so now I've been trying to unlock them like crazy. And I'm starting to do it with my other games. I have become an achievement whore, lol.

I'm kind of an achievement whore. I like going for achievements, as though they were challenges. I'll even do some of the more demanding ones (such as Bladder of Steel on Rock Band 2, requiring you to play the Endless Setlist without pausing or failing), but if it's more than I can handle, I won't lose sleep over it or anything.

I thought achievements were really lame when I first got Xlive. All I cared about was playing with my friends etc. But now recently... sadly the craze is overcoming me! I'm really getting addicted to getting them all for each game. xD

My friends are a lot worse than I am, though. You know the people that take achievements way too seriously. The ones that annoy you to death, wanting to borrow some of your games, "for the achievements."

One of my friends spent half a year bugging me about wanting to borrow Two Worlds (Quite possibly the worst RPG ever made), for the GS. I insisted that I would never do something that mean to him, though, as a real friend would never expose him to a game that lags in single player, the main character has to invest skill in swimming, a main character that says things like, "oooh, wet." when you go swimming, a horse riding system that's more like riding a tank, and so on. Eventually, I got sick of him bugging me about it, and just let him borrow it.

I mean, I like getting achievements, but I wouldn't punish myself that badly for a little more GS.

Hahahaha yes when it comes to Star Ocean TLH or any rpg game yes. Im actually planning to 1000 all my rpgs Hehe. Well Star OCeans difficuly of acheivements is 10 out of 10 considering there are only 20 people or something who 1000s it. Ill become the 25th or 40th hahahah. Ima keep it going.

I feel sorry for your friend, I know oh too well the horror that is Two Worlds.
As for being an achievement whore, i dont consider myself one. If i happen to unlock an achievement, great, but i dont personally go on an achievement joyride. My friend does that, and he doesnt play the game for the game. Which, i believe, is pointless.

I'd say now that I am and I'm not. I am in that if I buy a game I want to completely beat it and hit the platinum trophy, but I'm not in terms of that I wouldn't go out and buy a game just for trophies >.>

Erm, monster Whore, over 35.5k Gamerscore now. Go check the XBL leaderboard thread, there's me.
And I'm still going, I'll be doing something like 60 more races on FM 3 just for 200 gamerscore as well as trying to finish Mass Effect about another 3 times in order to get the 50 Gamerscore for level 70.

Yes and no. I'll try to get as many achievements as I possibly can in a game that I own, but I refuse to buy a crappy game for achievements. I have Madden 06, but my dad got that for me and I didn't ask for it, so that doesn't really count.

For example, I'm really enjoying ODST, so hell, I'll go for the 1000G. However, I didn't buy Avatar: TLA...

Nah, achievements are just something I get as I play to me, not something I play for. It takes the fun out of the game for me if I play it just to get an achievement, especially if its a particularly difficult one that is going to take multiple tries: I just get sick of the game if I keep re-doing a section of it. I'm not particularly competetive, because I never play online, so achievements are just a little decoration to me which I never pay attention to anyway.

No, it's fun to get trophies but they're not really needed. I mean getting one for completing a hard objective in a game is great but all they are really for is for bragging rights. I don't like bragging about things, if i have a trophy that the other person doesn't have ok and if i don't well no big fuss.

No I really don't see the point in getting so many achievement points unless its a game you really like and you just so happen to gain 1000G on accident (I did that once for SC4 and Tekken6) saw this one guy with like 50000 or something like that don't remember the exact numbers and I was like oh 0_0

Not really, but I do buzz when I unlock an achievement. Im not going to go out and buy easy games to get the points, but the thought has crossed my mind.

I am an achievement whore, but I'm not one who uses rental services like Gamefly/Lovefilm to get cheap games. Nor will I use games like Avatar TLA or CSI for quick/easy 1000s. The games I have managed to 1000 are done through skill, and if I feel like I can 1000 a game, I will put the hours in to get it, sometimes more than is healthy (Got 1k on Borderlands using a Siren which, upon hitting 1k didn't even have 3 days play on it).

I dont really "whore" over gamerscore or achievements per se, but if it's a game that I love to play and is one of my favorites then yes I will go and get every achievement that it has you can get. It just to me feels incomplete w/o the achievements, and while alot of people dont care I atleast strive and try my best to get the game beat and all the achievements as well.
