OOC: Crap, I had another whole uber post to put up. Stupid sister turned the damn computer off ... looks like I'll have to do it all again.
IC: Faith eventually landed on the top of Big Ben in London after much consideration and deliberation of whether she wanted to leave the country. Alex had a strange yet significant impact on her. Would the government drop her when she was deemed useless for their cause? It confused Faith and she felt that her mind was being seriously chewed up here. Being up here on Big Ben made her think about a lot of things. Memories of her past began to flood back to her, something quite rare that would happen to her. Ever since the explosion, Faith hadn't been able to remember most of her life. Tears slid down her face, as the first memory, the explosion itself, replayed in her head. That particular memory was the vital one she was first able to recall.
Having come to New York for a holiday, Faith and Patricia seemed to have admired the city. "I hope that no one finds out about me here," Faith was saying, as she continued drinking from her hot chocolate. They were both sat outside Starbucks having a small drink before returning to the hotel and admiring the lovely weather that reflected down upon them. "Don't worry," said Patricia, reassuring her. "I promise you that no one is about to find out who you are, Faith. Trust me, you can't be threatened here. This is still America, right?" At this point, Faith chuckled and sighed sadly, glancing up at the sky. The bright sunshine was quickly disappearing, something else was replacing it. She and Patricia rose to their feet immediately as did others.
The answer to their questions came eventually. High winds soared through the city and a nuclear explosion happened. Faith closed her eyes because of the pain that she felt. The radioactive explosion had a significant impact on her alone. She was blasted into the air, partly because her powers wanted to protect its user. But Patricia was not so lucky. When Faith opened her eyes, she was horrified to see that her lifeless body was on the ground. As soon as the explosion ended, Faith opened her eyes, half of her face badly scarred, and floated down to the ruins. Amongst the rubble, she found Patricia. She failed to find a pulse and she cried out to the sky. "NOOOOO!" she screamed. Next, the tears slid down her face. Patricia Musso was dead.
Patricia had been the only family Faith ever had. Well, at least as far as she could tell, anyway. That memory haunted Faith and it had turned her heart cold. In reaction to this explosion, Faith found out the cause of it. Unearthly beings, calling themselves "Supernatural", were the ones meaning to take over the planet. However, part of this information she found out alone. The other half was found out when the enigmatic Mr X had approached her to join The Avengers. This had been where Faith's story took quite a turn. Because after all, joining them had such a huge impact on her life. As a matter of fact, being on their team shattered her broken heart even more. Losing Patricia had been one casualty, so revenge was one difficult task.
"I see you like to take your anger out at the Supernatural," Mr X observed, as he had been watching Faith kick the hell out of a Supernatural shadow that had been relentlessly following her for two days on the run now. "It's such a shame that you can't put your true abilities to the test." Faith looked up at him, glared coldly and then stuck her hand inside the shadow's almost see through body. Moments later, it vanished into thin air. "And who exactly are you?" shouted Faith, grabbing hold of him before he knew it. "Have you been following me?" Mr X laughed. "Of course we have," he nodded reluctantly. "We've been following you for the past week studying you ... you could do so much more with what you're doing now, Faith Crest!"
"How do you know my name?" asked Faith, as she released Mr X. It seemed she was trying to read his mind, but was in such an angry state that she couldn't. "You're one of the only survivors of the explosion," replied Mr X. "A born warrior, if I may say so myself. You're not like everyone in the world, Faith. Come with us and maybe your life could have meaning. We are known as The Avengers and we formed recently to stop the growing threat of the Supernatural." Faith raised an eyebrow. "You want me to join your little prep team?" she remarked. "Yes, if it's not a problem," said Mr X. "Staying out here won't help! You refuse to eat, drink or even rest until you get satisfaction. I can take of everything, we only need you on our side."
Not only had Faith been especially asked to join The Avengers, she had also seen Mr X die as the ultimate sacrifice. It was a bombing in Northern Ireland, where The Avengers had been called out to a Supernatural threat. It was deemed to be worldwide, yet it was a trap to lure The Avengers out there in the first place. Faith continued to allow the tears to slide down her face, as she relived the memory again. The bomb was intended for her alone, but no. Mr X just had to save her life like he had done when he'd found her in the ruins of New York City. She closed her eyes, forgetting that she was on Big Ben, forgetting that everyone she ever knew would only die, anyway. That was her curse, not her gift at all. They would all die.
Three days had passed since Mr X's death. Faith refused to cry no more. She had gone home after his body was taken to the morgue. She'd cried there and wouldn't let the team see her in an emotional state. She had cried for those three days and then returned, telling her team that they would have to move on from his death. It was on this particular day that she was rummaging through Mr X's files and personal belongings when she found one important document. His will was in her hands and she saw the contents of it. The nameless man had appointed her to lead The Avengers? This had to be a mistake of some sort! But no, his signature was there and she would have to lead them. "Everyone, I've got an announcement to make," she said.
That had settled it. Faith had barely been in charge of The Avengers for three months now and Alex had convinced her that she would be disposed of when she was useless to the government. However, she refused to swallow his lies. Mr X had been the only man that she'd ever trusted because he had accepted her for who she was. Now flying back to the underground base up north, Faith descended upon the ground when no one was around. She typed in a code on her earpiece and she felt herself descending upon the base in the lift, a lift that was illusional to everyone else. "Gather your emotions together, gather your emotions together!" she kept on telling herself. She was still a little unstable because her eyes were still red.
When she arrived down there, Faith swiped her keycard into the system and the doors opened, allowing her to get fully inside. However, when she was now inside, there was a situation, something she hadn't been informed of. It's probably because I had to go and think, she thought, and glanced at the time. Half past eleven at night? I need to keep track of the time here! She entered the base and then immediately saw her team. "What's going on here? Someone tell me NOW!" she yelled, clearly not in a good mood. Then her eyes were cast on Rene and her mood seemed to have disappeared like that. "You ..." She shook her head as if she had a headache. Why does he seem familiar to me? "How the fuck did he get in, team? Answers now!"
