Just a thought. many people are calling for a remake of FFVII VIII And IX - but what about some of the classic games? IV V VI - they are superb games but they dont get enough recognition and praise tha FFs 7+ do...
I mean i for one would KILL to see FFVI on the ps2 or psp but how many times do you here someone mention one of the old school games?

what do you think?

EDIT - URGH i spelt School wrong in the title - could a mod or whoever please fix it / tell me how to fix it? as i loathe incorrect spelling of simple words and school is pretty simple

I have only played final fantasy 6 (PS1). But i thought that was great! Although i never got to the end of it (Will soon though). I'm gonna get my hands on 4 and 5 next ^_^

Well they are older games, and younger gamers who are not used to 2D graphics are not going to like them or become very impatient because they are slower paced. Personally, they are my favorite games in the series.

I tried to get one of my younger cousins (he's 9) to play IV, but as soon as he saw the opening video he said, "this game is stupid!" and turned it off. It broke my heart a bit, but oh well.

And I don't want to see them remade in 3D. I really like them in 2D and I really don't like when RPG characters are voice acted. And the last thing I want to see is a bunch of rabid IV and VI fangirls and fanboys at anime cons. I get that enough with VII.

I grew up playing the 3D FFs buy I also really enjoyed played the older ones. I would really like to see SE do some stuff for FFVI as they did for FFVII. The 2D FFs do deserve more recognition since they were the ones that started the series.

Yes! A remake of FFVI is needed. If we get one, then it could possibly become the best FF ever. I think all it needed was a really captivating side-quest/ mini-game to play. There was a fantastic storyline to it and the characters are wonderful. You get given a bit of their history
like how Shadow is Relm's father
but you're still left to specualte a lot.

As for FFIV and V. Meh. I couldn't put up with them. They started out well, but they were far too forced and cheesy. No one's from the same planet and you travel between worlds far too much imn them. I didn't really like the characters in them either

When I started playing Final Fantasy games I really didn't see myself ever playing the older ones. I attempted Final Fantasy VI and just didn't like it. I even got to the World of Ruin and still wasn't pumped by the game at all. So I passed it by for newer games with better graphics. But then as I began to replay through FFX for my third time, I really thought about playing some of the first few games. BustaMo had bought and sold them over the years without really sitting down to play them... so I wasn't sure if it was worth it. At this point though I was a much bigger fan of the series and decided to give it a shot. I played Final Fantasy V and it was amazingly good. I honestly thought it would be crap and I'd just kind of play it out of boredom and so I could say "I had"... but it turned out to be a really good game.

Since then I have played FFI, FFII, FFV, and FFVI... and they're all pretty good. Honestly though FFVI is still my least favorite of the "classic" FF games.

As said, they are the ones that started it all, so it's a shame they don't get more recognition than they do. It would've been rather interesting to see them remake them into 3D and up to date and all though, in my opinion. Although I'd rather not let the 'magic' the first ones posess disappear, which it might if they remake them.

The 2D FFs are extremely underrated, but i can understand why people who haven't played them might not want to. The first time i played IV and V i thought they were rubbish, but i played them again after playing VII, VIII, IX and X and now they're my favourites of the series. I wouldn't want to see them remade in 3D though. That would just ruin them.

Shows how much recognition they get, people don't hardly post in the old final fantasy forums...

Although FFVII is my favourite title, I still like the older ones. Particularly FFIV and VI. I think all the older FF titles don't get enough recognition apart from VI (Well, it still doesn't get enough but it is often considered the best FF title. FFIV I have always thought was underrated).

I think that Zelda always steals FF's thunder. IMO , FF >>> Zelda, but for some reason, Zelda always seems to come out on top. No Fair. Final Fantasy has so much more to it than Zelda. FF's are complicated and very, very involving, and since FF7, the graphics are mind-blowing. But the main thing is the story. Every FF has a new great story. Every single Zelda is about Link rescuing Princess Zelda...*yawns*.

Nuff said.. FF is better.

I got to completely agree with that post. ^^ Even though it's not really on topic whatsoever, I completely agree with the FF > Zelda thing.

Well, naturally the classic FF games do not receive as much praise because most of the gamers in this day and age dig for the "cooler graphics". I bought VI because I heard so many good reviews about it, and although I haven't finished it yet, I do see a lot of potential in the game.

However, I don't think I would play FFI-FFV, not because of the graphics, but because I simply don't have time for it at the moment and don't see it happening in the future. I have quite a few games on my list that I still need to play and games that I would like to play. (FFXIII)

So I wouldn't say that I'm neglecting the earlier FF games due to graphics. Not at all. I mean, I did play I and II for a few hours, but it bored me a bit because I thought the story pace was a bit slow. And back then, I had other games to play and my schedule was quite hectic. So it also depends on your time and how you manage it.
