A warning if you watch: It's severely disturbing.

Just something that made me sick as fucking hell, and totally pissed off at China. I understand that different countries have their different practices, and have different ways of doing things, but IMO this is just taking it TOO FAR. I couldn't even watch the whole thing cause it was jsut so horrible

I don't really want to watch the film coz i hate watching animals in pain, but could you give a description of what happened so I can rage with you?

Tens of millions of animals are slaughtered and butchered in China each year. Animal fur is in high demand, and the Chinese deliver. What does not get exported outside of China usually ends up on a dinner plate. The sad fact is that the animals suffer horrendous torture. They are captured on the streets, and packed by the dozens into small cages, without ability to move. They are then tossed like inanimate objects from the trucks, onto the ground, hitting each other and the steel cages. These cages are later stacked, and the real nightmare begins. The animal is brutally pulled out of the cage, and tied to prevent resistance. It is lightly stunned by a blow on the head, but still alive.

If the animal is not heavy, the worker holds it by its hind legs, waves it in the air and then bashes its head against the ground. Once the animal is subdued, a new and incomprehensible stage in this ongoing nightmare begins. The worker cuts a tiny incision in the animal's rear, and then methodically peels away the skin. This skinning process takes about a minute, during which the worker actively keeps the animal alive, as it is believed that it is easier to skin the animal while it is still warm and blood flows through its veins.

The nightmare does not end here. The final stage in this unbelievable horror is when the animal is tossed aside, and slowly, amidst a heap of its dying friends, it perishes as it is no longer able to withstand the pain. In other cases, when the animal's fur is not needed (mostly with cats), the animals are put in a sack, and are then cooked alive in a barrel of boiling water.

This process is extremely hard to digest, but we believe it is not propelled by cruelty, but rather by ignorance and lack of awareness to animal needs. The workers do not think to kill the animal before they begin, and are not aware of the animal's suffering. Our commitment is to provide enlightenment. It is our moral obligation to these animals. If we shut our eyes this will not go away!

Now rage with me. :rage:

Oh my god!!! :| wtf is wrong with some people??/
Why not just kill the poor thing first rather than torture it!!! People really are evil sometimes. I felt sick reading that, I cant imagine what watching the footage would be like.

I doubt they'd ever change though :( just like the Japs and their whaling

That is why people tend to love Japanese more than Chinese. Like, what Japanesedo with the Whales are bad, but what China is doing with house pets is just awful.

Yeah, I understand that not every country treats animals the same way, but torturing them is just too much for me :/

Just a word of caution, guys. In some circles, "Jap" is considered a derogatory term for the Japanese. I'm sure that wasn't your intent, just passing along some information.

The Japanese war crimes are right up there with the Germans, absolutely incredible numbers of deaths, systematic rape, burning people alive etc. Japanese kill whales for themselves, they eat whales, the chinese export fur, there's a difference.

I dislike this kind of article because at some level I think it's motivated by racism. There are question marks over Kosher and Halal slaughter, the conditions the animals are kept in is the same everywhere. The amount of factory farming that takes place in America and Europe is massive. There are more tigers kept in the US as pets than there is in the wild.

The most relevant thing in that article though, was the fact that the fur is exported. That is to say the West and the Middle East, but probably the West is the one causing this to happen. If there's demand then people will be willing to skin animals alive. It's all very well to call the Chinese nasty people, but the problem is the west's. Which brings me back nicely to racism, it fits in with people's prejudices and their stereotypes about other countries being full of nasty people, but they're wrong. It's white banker's wives who are the reason, not whichever country is unfortunate enough to be the target of the media.

theres nothing racist about it sir

the chinamen with their cymbal hats and sqiunty eyes with bucktooth smiles are the ones gutting animals, so they are obviously the bad guys :monster:

It's unfortunate that you had to come across this content, but what is moaning about it on a final fantasy forum going to do but just get other people worked up about it? Not trying to kill your mood here, but the last time I came here and someone wanted to talk about animal abuse, I'd just put my dog down only a few hours before coming across it.

all that was in that thread was OMG THIS IS SO SICK THATS FUCKED UP GOD IM SO MAD I COULD PUNCH A MOTHERFUCKER IN THE FACE. People were just mad, there was no discussion to be had - it was just disgusting.

...I don't know why I even watched part of it. I stopped.

Three words, oh my GOD. What the fuck is wrong with these assholes? Why, seriously, why the hell would you do this?

I don't understand why nothing is done against this.

L and @Bjork

So what you're saying is you don't find anything wrong with skinning animals while they're still alive?
You don't think they could better their ways of doing things by at least killing the animals first? Sure its the westerners that ask for their fur coats etc but the Chinese people or whoever is doing the skinning are responsible for how they do it.

also, I literally didn't know Jap was a bad thing to call Japanese people :| I just used it coz I was too lazy to write it out in full. leant something new today.

@o0PinkSquid0o
Contrary to popular opinion, there's only one way to skin a cat. I certainly don't support animals being skinned alive. I was pointing out that slingling out the Chinese as the bad guys is racist. It's Western demand that leads to this, and the many of the ways animals in the West are almost equally as questionable.
