I was looking around the music studio to see if any one has made a thread about the band AFI. I didn't see any so i decided i would make one.
If there is a thread on AFI I apolgize.
But for now is there any AFI Fans out there who heard of there new ablum.What are your favorite song from AFI ?

My favorite songs are
grey not girl
love like winter
miss murder
killing lights
missing frame
 
miss murder is my favourite song by AFI! and as far as i know there is not one at least in the music studio, just check all the pages of the music studio just in case ;)

miss murder is a popular one, i had heard about AFI a all time ago but after a while i forgot about them then when .I here them sing at the music awards on TV I went but to listening to them. as soon as their CD december underground came out i bought it
 
i heard about them from a friend at school who got me into them as well as some heavy metal/death metal/rock bands

That's not AFI though, it's Davey and Jade's side project called Blaqk Audio.

Now as for AFI....i've listened to them for several years, and as a fan i am really disappointed in their new album. All their albums from Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes to Sing the Sorrow had something unique and original to them, whether it was in the music or the lyrics. Decemberunderground is just....crap compared to their old albums. I'm not saying the album in itself is crap, but there is absolutely nothing unique about it. It's generic, emo sounding music and even the lyrics are lame. Previous AFI albums had deep lyrics, Decemberunderground's lyrics dont even make sense (like Miss Murder). And as a result AFI has gained a legion of new emo "fans", which i absolutely HATE because at concerts, whenever AFI played some of their older punk-ish songs...the "fans" just remain silent, kind of like a collective "wtf is this?" Thats just not cool.

As for my favorite songs...that's a toughie, but i'll list some of them:

Now the World (Sing the Sorrow)
Death of Seasons (StS)
Totalimmortal (All Hallows EP)
The Despair Factor (The Art of Drowning...which also has fantastic artwork)
Midnight Sun (TAoD)
Narrative of Soul Against Soul (Black Sails in the Sunset)
No Poetic Device (Black Sails)
The Chicken Song (No Time to Kill...it's not serious but c'mon, davey's singing about chicken and granola bars, it's hilarious)
 
I'm not normally into this kind of music, but Bitter for Sweet is extremely good. I guess Havok and Puget decided to work on their other project, Blaqk Audio, which is electronic and a mix of something else. Like I said, I'm not familiar with these type of music, but I heard it once and now I can't stop listening to it.

Well...kinda. Their sound on their new album is pretty emo, but i wouldnt say they themselves are emo. Alot of people also call them sellouts, but if they were sellouts they wouldnt still play their older songs at concerts.

I think what disappoints me most about the new album is that most of the songs on it sound really similar. Every album they've released (excluding Very Proud of Ya and Answer That and Stay Fashionable) has sounded different than the last, and they get bored if they stick with the same style, so i can understand why they changed....but on all the previous albums, i didnt get the songs confused with each other, but on this new album alot of the songs i just cant tell the difference between.

Their album Sing the Sorrow was actually the precursor to mainstream emo music. By today's classifications and such, it would be considered emo, however it was actually a quality album with alot more meaning behind it than much of the "my girl left me but i cant get over her" crap thats out there now. And then came along My Chemical Romance who ripped off AFI, and Panic! At the Disco in turn ripped off MCR.

And now, sadly, it looks like AFI is trying to cater to the emo crowd with their new album. I just dont understand why all the songs on it sound so similar to one another when AFI spent nearly 3 years in the studio working on the damn album.

Now VengefulRonin I'm going to have to take issue with what you said. I got into AFI after hearing Miss Murder. I love there older stuff including STS, Art of Drowning and Black Sails. I loooove when they play older stuff and as much as try and deny it, I am emo. I love Blaqk Audio to and I cannot wait for Cex Cells. AFI ain't emo they are Punk/Hardcore.

lmao, sorry, i just had to do that. But seriously, you need to get Shut Your Mouth, it's really good. It's got the punk sound of the first two albums only slightly evolved (you can tell their sound was developing into the Black Sails sound) and the lyrics are alot less silly than Cereal Wars and Rolling Balls (although that song is probably one of the funniest things ever). As for Answer That and Stay Fashionable...well...it's silly AFI punk, just like Very Proud of Ya. It's worth getting, but hunt down Shut Your Mouth first.
 
Well I read in Kerrang that it was the worst album AFI made and I don't get a lot of money to spend on CDs so I've not got around to purchasing that one but I'm sure I'll get it eventually. Btw I really

Which was the worst album? Answer That or Shut Your Mouth? Cuz Shut Your Mouth is pretty good, although nowhere near as brilliant as Black Sails or Art of Drowning.

And i forgot to reply to the rest of your other post >_<

So you're an emo...who actually likes their older stuff? That's quite a rarity. And yes, technically AFI was hardcore (East Bay Hardcore to be exact), but seeing as how they sound pretty much like punk rock...i just call them punk xD

And i cant wait for Cex Cells to be released, the two songs they have on their myspace sound pretty good ^^ But one thing scares me......in that picture of Davey and Jade....is Davey's hair cut way short or does he just have it slicked back? I cant tell but he had better NOT have cut his hair (unless he plans on growing a devilock again, which would be fantastic)

answer that or shut your mouth, isn't sold in stores near where i live. They have sing of sorrow n december underground.so i got all my music from shareing sites.

I don't even think cex cells will be sold in stores near me

Aww man, they dont even sell Shut Your Mouth? Is there a Hot Topic near you? Alot of times they'll have it.

I dont much like emo people <.< They whine and bitch too much about such trivial problems and cut themselves to be cool, so people who've been cutting for years cuz they actually have problems in their life are just called emo and arent taken seriously.

*sighs* Yeah, i'll be very lucky if i find Cex Cells around here, i'll probably end up downloading it like i did AFI's EPs....actually there is one store around here that carries the All Hallows EP, but i wasnt about to pay $8 for four songs.

I checked all the hot topics for months to see if they had them.
I had also asked for the AFI jacket n shirts but there all sold out.
every one of my friends who like AFI have a jacket but me.

As for emo people i don't know y but i'm attracted to emo men(teehee) it's weird,i go for people who have problems cause relationships like that last longer with me

Anyways i also checks online stores but i can't but the CDs cause of my age.and when i ask my parents if they can buy it (i would pay them back) they say no cause they hate the music i listen to lolz
