In case you weren't aware, affection levels were present in FFX also (like FFVII). They affected the Macalania ride, who jumped off the airship first, who throws the Blitzball in Final Ace, etc. They could be raised by ; talking to the character first when they are in a group, standing around, answering questions such as "She's cute, ya?", and healing the character (as Tidus) when they're injured/KO'ed.

Lowered by killing the person over and over (aye, getting Tidus to bash them :awesome:), and in general being a jerk. Personally I'm raising Tidus and yuna's affection levels, for obvious reasons.

Plus I love hearing him ask if she'd like to lie down after he Phoenix Downs her. ^^;; When Rikku rejoins the party I'll probably raise hers. Teeheeeee. XD So did anyone bother with/notice affection levels?

PS; Obviously it doesn't affect the actual outcome of the game,
Tidus is still going to go to the Farplane or whatnot, and he's still going to kiss yuna.
. Darn. >_>

do you know when you get rikku's affection level high
And you talk to her in guadosalam and you pick the option " i'd rather have you rikku" she Jumps down and Says " Maybe Someday " I love that bit :P

I did! :P

At first I didn't know there were affection levels in FFX, but I kinda suspected something when Wakka asked Tidus if he finds Yuna cute. I raised their affection level so it is Yuna who throws Tidus a blitzball in his Blitz Ace Overdrive. :D

I didn't know it affected the airship part though. o_O But in the Macalania ride I got Lulu to come with me.

yeah, after
fighting Sin's fin or whatnot.
. If you take to ride with Rikku she like hugs Tidus around the waist as they ride. It's cute. XD

She says that in Al Bhed, right? o_O;

I couldn't be bothered with the affection levels. -_-

I mean, they were a fun little diversion I suppose...but overall nothing changes. The game progresses as it normally would except for some minor cutscene changes. I'd bother with them if there was a more fitting reward for the "effort"...but there isn't, so I can't be bothered. :wacky:

Yeah I'm with Nessy-boy on this one. I never bothered with affection levels either. I might next time I play. :P It'd be interesting to see how his affection is with Lulu, but to be honest, it never does change the outcome of the game at all. Tidus still falls in love with Yuna, they kiss, he leaves and she still continues to be in love with him. I mean hell, even the next game she's still searching for him and...well you know the 100% outcome of that too, so while it might be a fun little thing to do, it changes nothing in the game. *shrugs*

Well, I'm a completionist, and I try to hear (or read in the older FF's) every bit of dialogue possible. Seeing as the affection levels have an effect on changing dialogue, I've went through the game using as many combinations as I could. Just to see who tosses the ball for Tidus' Blitz Ace is enough to make me gain affection for a chosen lady.
Another important one is the scene at Lake Macalania after you battle the Al Bhed machina (I forget the name off the top of my head), where you ride the snow mobiles. That scene alone has 4 possibilities, and I made sure to catch every one of them at 1 time or another. It's just interesting to see what each one has to say.
I know it has no affect on the storyline itself, but I personally like to test all the possibilities.

I was never really fussed with the Affection levels. =\ I just answered the questions as they came up, healed as I needed too etc, etc.

I've had all four on the Snowmobile ride at some point -I've played through this game like... so many times. My fave is Lulu xD

It doesn't matter to me and every time, it's always ended up as being Yuna who throws the Blitzball for me.

If, like Justin and Mandi said, there was something to be gotten from raising the affection levels with a certain character, I might have been more interested. But because it only changed dialogue in certain scenes, I wasn't really all that bothered with it. >_>

I'm with Axel here, I didn't think about it and simply went on with the game.

I was aware oh the different scenes on the snow bike but never bothered to look into it further, it just really didn't catch my interest that much.

I was always nice to Lulu, not because I was after the affection levels or anything, but I jsut thought it was great flirting with her, every playthrough I just can't resist coming on to her xD

Lmao. I love how she's like "I'll add you to my list." XD SHE JUST TOLD HIM TO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITHH TEH SUMMONER! D:

I always hit on Lulu too, it's just funnier than the others. "Interesting. I suppose I could add you to my list. I wish you good luck, little boy. You're going to need it." is one of my favourite Lulu lines in the game xD

I never really paid that much attention to the affection levels. I've always gotten the Lulu scenes. She's always jumped off the airship first - I never knew the affection levels altered that xD - and she's always ridden with Tidus to Macalania ^^

The majority of the time Lulu is the one on the snow mobile and throwing the Blitzball for me.

Never really think about it to be honest, had a couple of other characters in the past but it's usually Lulu.

I noticed the affection levels fairly early on, but as they don't affect all that many scenes in the game, I generally just go with with the flow.
More often than not I end up hitting on Lulu...For the lulz. I use her in my party a lot though, so even if I answer the questions in favour of another character (like saying Yuna's cute etc), the number of times I've healed/revived/supported Lulu in battle outweigh that anyway. -___-;;;

Everyone's hitting on Lulu! XD I guess she'll probably be the one who rides with me too, since I keep using her in my party to train her. Still. Tidus and Lulu.. XD

Is there a guide for this? Seriously, I could use some help. I've only gotten the Rikku snow ride once, and every other time it's Lulu. And Lulu's the one who throws the ball to Tidus for me during his overdrive. And there were other sequences in the game? Bah, I never noticed >.<

So gimme some help, please. I want Tidus to be a diverse slut! :gasp:

<-- Very detailed guide, tells you exactly what to do everytime.

<-- More simple, gives you more freedom. XD

Hope that helps~
But basically - Heal them when they're injured, talk to them when everyone's just standing around.. yeah 8D Tidus shouldn't need that much of a push to be a slut :gasp:

Oh Tidus~

It's a lot of fun to raise Rikku's level once you get her in the party. With her naturally flirty personality, it really makes it seem like a crush. Oh yeah, CB!s guide on gamefaqs is awesome! If you end up raising further with one of the guys, the ball comes out of nowhere for Tidus' Blitz Ace, which is also pretty funny. I remember the first time I went through the game, I had the snow mobile part with Lulu (I guess I talked to her a lot early on, as she had all the information), but Yuna was the one throwing the ball later (change of heart in time I guess, well I suppose there's an obvious reason for that ;) ).

I didn't even know FFX had affection levels!

It's been a while since I've played it too, so I can't quite remember which scenes it may have affected during my play through.

However, I think I may have had Rikku on my snow mobile majority of the time, so I wonder what the hell I did to get her affection up. :gasp:

Dirty Tidus.
