All right, so I read all of Genesis's bio on FFwikia(I know not the best place but)well I came across the "goddess materia" thing. After reading through,

Minerva, a physical manifestation of the Lifestream and its will.

She seems to be more similar to a Summon as it appears that her purpose is to follow, or to represent, the intentions of the Lifestream.

When Genesis is defeated by Zack in the Banora Underground, Minerva shows herself to Genesis in his dream in the Lifestream. Looking into his soul and seeing his unselfish desire and will to "complete his duty as a SOLDIER" she revives him as a reflection of the will of the Lifestream.

I don't get it. Can't Aerith control the lifestream's will? Does that mean she can control Minerva? :surprised:

I am so confused. :sad3: Please help me.

Aerith could never really control the LifeStream, she was more of a... I dunno, cheerleader for it I guess. In MotP you see her coming across old faces that she met, and at the end of the novella, she cries out to the Lifestream. From there, little snippets of everybody lending a hand comes into play, because their consciousness was wakened when Aerith met them in the Lifestream. Even if she didn't meet them in the game, their interaction shows that as a Cetra, Aerith could connect with them.

She couldn't control it, but by awakening the consciousness' of others and with their will and help, she was able to guide the Lifetsream into aiding Holy.

From there, I think that was it. At the end of the novella, after the attack it says her thoughts were freed, so from there she probably merged into the Lifestream with the others.

Minerva is basically a physical manifestation of the world Gaia, who can control the Lifestream as it's a part of her. She appeared to Genesis as the planet, not as a being in the Liffestream or anything. She saw that he was wanting to save the planet for this or that reason, and thus locked him away in a cavern.

Ahh, Okay, thanks Channy! So Aerith can't control the lifestream but she can aide it along.

My question was originally going to be this; can Minerva grant one's wish if it's pure in their heart?

Nothing in crisis Core makes sense to me, and I doubt it will ever -- I think that Minerva is is like the face of the Lifestream not literally a person or physicality. But maybe like the eyes of Lifestream really. I don't think that the Minerva they name in the game is actually the Goddess Athena, but I could be wrong :mokken:

Annnnnd I'm still confused. :mokken: What the hell is Minerva's point?! *tardface*

She's just the representation of the Lifestream as opposed to an actual person or thing. The Lifestream isn't actually a person just using a face I suppose.

So what I'm asking is; does she have any special ability to grant wishes? Is she the thing that allowed Aerith's pure wish to protect the planet with Holy?

Grr, I just wanna know if she has special abilities. :mokken:

Well... Aerith and Holy are kinda different story.

Holy is a Materia, and as such, works as a summon, or magic or some weird combination of the two, similar to Meteor. Aerith was praying, and as such, almost as is she was doing her actions to cast the spell to summon Holy.. albeit, conversing with the Planet, she was trying to connect with the Cetra of the past within the Lifestream.

And then later in the novella, she sees Holy hasn't started working, and can only help it with the aid of the still slightly tangible souls of the lifestream, by using the will of thousands within the planet to save the planet.

Granted Minerva is a random insert in CC, I don't think there's any real way to connect her with those events unless they retcon it in VII:Re

In my mind, Minerva is more like a WEAPON, only, on a scale of OMEGA vs. ULTIMA. (in ff8, or ffvii doc omega vs ultima from ffvii... i think it might be a similar comparison?) She is far supirior than any of the other 4. WEAPON is a physical manifestation of HOLY, only She can act on her own, but by the time Aerith is able to use the Holy materia, the ability for anyone to control it, is lost. Holy is ...

It's actually really confusing. Holy, is magic, but it decides what's best for the planet. So, I guess one could say, it's ....
I'm trying to think of a good comparison.
White blood cells....We can't control them...they decide what we need and don't need. We can only influence them...

Holy is ...
Materia...which comes form the planet itself. so it's like the penultimate safety mechanism before Omega?

Holy decided that Midgar was worse for the planet, than the damage that would be caused by Meteor, so it aided it. But Aerith's prayer was able to activate the LifeStream, or maybe, Aeirth, like Sephiroth has a strong will and willed the LifeStream to save the planet once holy failed.

Unfortunately, we didn't see enough of Minerva... but I think she has to be a manifestation of the LifeStream, much like a WEAPON. WEAPON's destroy what is tormenting the planet. But they were not sentient. they were made for destruction. more like robots... programmed for one purpose. But Minerva was sentient and saw Genesis's desire to help the planet, and granted him more power. giving him a chance.

I don't see a connection between the Minerva and Aerith except their connection to the planet.

Sorry for the odd cut-offs. i was typing as i was thinking and i just lost what i was saying and was trying to understand how to type what i was thinking. feel free to finish what im saying if you understand it.

How Random.

Ahh where in FFVII was there an Omega Weapon?

the 4 weapons are as follows (to my knowledge):

Emerald
Rudy
Sapphire
Ultima

Or did I miss a Weapon in CC?

Minerva? :hmmm:

If you think of her as summon: being the physical manifestation of an element, like Ifrit or Shiva, perhaps she is the Manifestation of the Lifestream and similar to a summon, but instead of an offensive power she has power to grant wishes.

I look at it like this: magic does not exist in the worlds of FF because of summons, the summons are the result of magic coalescing in to physical form, and Minerva could have become along the same lines?

I vaguely remember the scene in the Underground, kinda like the OP says but was late and the game was giving me the irrettes, so I dont remember it that well.

Is she on Involved with the "Loveless" play at all?

Thanks. Forty Six:)
I was hoping that made sense
I've spent.... the last 13 years of my life as a FFVII fan. lol. I hope by now I understand it all.

and GalaxyFlare: Omega was in Dirge of Cerberus. Ill tell you about him...but its kinda a spoiler to the game. but not really. I won't say why it's important to the story line.
Basically, When the planet is dieing, and the LifeStream becomes large enough, Omega awakens. The planet sees that there is little to no life left on the planet, and it awakens the WEAPON : Omega to absorb the LifeStream, and ascend into the universe in search of a new planet to rejuvenate with the LifeStream, thus starting life over. haha. he sounds like Sephiroth doesn't he?

OK. True, so it's like comparing OMEGA versus Ruby? no...bad comparison.
But WEAPONs were a pushover... Maybe Emerald. I mean, he got shot by the unempowered Sister Ray. I'm sure that did at least 1,000,000 dmg. imagine fighting Emerald with 2mill HP? Diamond would have had more if it wasn't for the sister ray. probably at least 6,000,000 more. I bet that's the dmg output of the sister ray mako version. But he didn't... So it was like an overkill...he probably only had 1 hp left after cloud and the gang. lol.

I have never even heard of Omega Weapon in FFVIII!

Its completely new to me, an interesting Idea, but what game/video/thing is it involved with? CC, BC, DOC? or is one of the things S-E added to the compilation?
