^^^ You may do so, actually do it
I can certainly say that this thread is sure to be my most controversial yet. Currently studying Germany between 1918-39, our History class has learned much about Hitler, the Nazi's, the SS, the SA, the Gestapo and other such groups. Our teacher asked a question, expecting an obvious answer, but what he got back was a full period of discussion on Hitler.
The question:
"Was Adolf Hitler a bad man?"
Despite how simple the question may be, you would be surprised as to how many people voted for Hitler being a good leader. Before people start hating me, let me explain.
After the War, Germany was in a state of Economic Depression. The Treaty of Versailles, nevermind the war, left her weak and powerless. After many, many attempts to comply with Democracy, it was clear to the people of Germany that Democracy was failing. What Germany needed was a strong leader, one who would take her out of the depression.
The basic concept of the argument was that Hitler was either:
-A power-hungry dictator who wanted nothing more than total domination with his Aryan Race.
-A man who simply wanted to restore Germany's pride, power and place with the other countries of the World.
There is no doubt to the fact that Hitler commited crimes far worse than death, but I ask the question to you all:
"Was Adolf Hitler a bad man?"
Adolf Hitler wasn't a bad man
You are wrong.
you have no right to say i'm wrong...
You may all be suprised by my next statement, especially since I will now say that I am jewish. Hitler was not a 'bad' man. Evil and Bad are two different things. If you think about how he lived his life, he isn't bad, but he is evil. If you knew about his lifestyle, here's some facts. He didn't drink, do drugs, and only was married once. He fought for what he belived in, and helped Germany through an economic depression. He did kill many jews, but he was a good leader. Evil man though.

He didn't kill them. Based on your logic, Kennedy killed Cuabn immigrants, Nixon and Johnson killed vietnamese, FDR, Eisenhower, and Truman killed germans , italians, and japanese, Lincoln killed americans, Bush killed Iraqis, and Madison killed the British. Must I continue? Do you believe these "Great" presidents killed the people? Though Bush isn't great.... but anyway. Based on the fact that american presidents aren't blamed for the deaths of their enemies, why are the deaths of Hitlers enemies blamed on him?
In my eyes there is simply no way to describe Hitler other than as evil. The benefits he brought to the German people are irrelevent. It is very difficult to see him as anything other than a monster, but of course he wasn't, he was human and thats the scariest thing.
Anyone with a serious interest in the subject should check out the film 'Downfall', it chronicles the last few days of Hitler's life. What makes it more impressive is that it is a German film. You owe it to yourself to watch it.
Hitler ordered them dead, but he didn't personally kill them. In essence, we say that Hitler executed the Holocaust; Hitler started Kristallnacht; Hitler lead the Munich putsch [sp?]; Hitler got together his SA and SS. It's is BECAUSE of Hitler that the concentration camps were set up. So, Hitler essentially killed these people, because he is responsible. He didn't kill them.
