Final Fantasy XIII-2′s story to be 30-40 hours

Final Fantasy XIII-2′s story will take around 30-40 hours to finish, the development team has told this week’s Famitsu (via Siliconera). After you complete the game, you’ll be able to reload your save to take you back to a point before the game’s final boss. If you have a save file for FFXIII, you’ll get a special wallpaper.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases in Japan on December 15, and in the west on the week of January 30 for PS3 and 360.

After you complete the game, you’ll be able to reload your save to take you back to a point before the game’s final boss.

That means you can do all of the side quests etc. so thats a good thing.
Like I said before this feels like more time will be invested in side quests than actual game play :lew: J/K I like pushing on toes ! :trollita::megusta2:

There's an actual story? I though they spend all their time applying shitty western mechanics. So in theory all you should do is run in dungeons, bringing lost treasured back.

Yesh and cuddle your morphing moogle and throw it around for fun and collect monsters 150 or so after you turn them in beautiful crystals. And you can travel around in time and space and also gamble in the casino and race with chocobos.

Lovely :) lmao

Also I messed up with the date 28/11 oopsy daisy :tehe:

The thing is, I think with the side quests there will be story pieces or at least in the form of an NPC revealing something about the world/history.

Thats a decent length though. It took me 40-50 to beat FFXIII, so its not much shorter

Well I usually spend double the time just grinding and leveling up. I guess this is main story hours? Also FFXIII had supposedly 50 hours of story.

I am also wondering is it 30 hours or 40 estimated..10 hours is quite the difference..or perhaps 35... I am well aware it cant be narrowed down that specific but ya know.....:P

This is only good news if the story is actually good. I hope so for the FFXIII-2 buyers. I really do.

If you guys are doing the quests purely to get platinum trophies etc.. rather than doing it for the side quests itself then thats rather fail imo.

Imagine the side quests are dull and there was no such thing as a trophy system. What would you have in a game? Either one hell of a story or with or without compelling quests and the other way around.

Since this is a sequal and also took only 1 year to be produced, it has made me very skeptic.

I'm more skeptical that the game won't end properly, with no definite winner because the final boss, Kaius or however you spell his name can't be beaten and we'll have to wait until FFXIII-3 to get a proper ending.

I still think there will be a FFXIII-3 game, although it will come out after Versus.

shrugs.

Then a longer wait for FFXV.

I was excited about this game when I first heard about it but now I am thinking it won't be that good, in part due to the short developement time and in part for the short playing time.30-40 hours isn't enough in my opinion.

plus the fact we can only have two regular party members plus a monster, although at times we'll have guests with us isn't good enough imo.We need to have 3 characters in a party at least.

I don't like the stuff being offered for preorders.I am thinking now not doing a first day buy but waiting to see if the extra stuff will be offered as dlc at some point.

I never expected it to be longer than the first game really. When you look at X and X-2's play time, X-2 was the much shorter one. I am not bothered if it is like 10 hours less. I hate the fact that the story moves in chapters again though. Chapters are really lame. FF XIII took me exactly 61 hours to complete, and 165 hours to 100% it. I will go through the pain of getting 100 percent on XIII-2 as well.

Lolz, FFXIII-2, storyline. Someone's trolling, and it isn't me for once

That said, 30-40 hours is a respectable amount of time for an RPG, at least these days. Of course, something like Xenoblade can double that with the story alone, but...well, we can't expect Square Enix to measure up to something that incredible. If I were even considering getting XIII-2 (which I'm not, just in case I hadn't made that clear) I'd be quite content with an expected time of 30 or 40 hours. Assuming that the hours they claim it'll take are accurate...which they rarely are these days :hmph:
