I seriously doubt boycotting SE is going to do anything. No matter how many angry letters you send, there will always be that few amount of people to give them money. It is literally going to accomplish nothing. I'm not saying that you should buy XIII-3 should it come out, i'm just saying that boycotting it is not going to do anything.

if your going Company wide Boycott, then you are in the minority. Your opinion will not make a scratch.

(This probably seems really rude, but I meant it to be blunt, not rude. Sorry if it angers/Offends/ECT)
@kratoscar2008

....wut. I myself am a fan of XIII and XIII-2 and I will defend it on some accounts. So that makes me not a true FF Fan? Besides this making no sense whatsoever, I like some of the mainstream games like FFX and FVI. Am i now a True FF Fan?

I'm not trying to blow up at you.(though I feel This will seem like it) I just found your post disconcerting, that's all.

FFXIII and its sequel are not true FF games, they completely obliterated what a FF is about and hell it even isnt a decent rpg for that alone. When you are fan of something you want the game to change but FOR THE BETTER not for the worse and FF XIII and XIII-2 are not worthy of the FF name.

Resident Evil former fan: Im a fan of survival horror RE not the action based games have become now, anyone who defend this now action oriented games are NOT true Resident Evil fans are people new to the series that love the esque Call of Duty they have become.

Final Fantasy former fan: Im a fan of great FF games, the ones who introduced iconic characters world expansive to explore lovable antagonists, great and player interactive battle system plot easy to grasp and that is developed trough the game. Anyone who defend these Movie esque FF is NOT a true FF fan, Graphics is the only department wich the game shines, BUT not all is graphics.

You can like XIII thats okay but you cant tell that this game is a worthy FF game and that was okay that SE keep putting more sequels to this broken and halfassed universe, FF games tended to have only one history and move forward, they only made the sequel to feed their egos nothing more.

I will boycot SE because i know that there are a LOT of fans that are dissapointed with the way the company has been handled as of late, the whole Fabula Nova Cristallys has been a mess and i hope that this project will be scratched from next generation.

I pretty much agree....the gmes just arent that great. Ff13 is a load of expirements trying hard to be a success. The first one "apparently" focused only on the story. The second one focused on gameplay. I find the characters to be worst. Kaius also doesnt seem to be all that great.

Overall it just seems like we dont have to play the original to play the sequel. I believe its too late for 13 to be a great FF ttle even if the last one really is ff worthy. As a series it has obvious failures.

Basically ff13 is an acid trip but when it comes down to it, not even ff13 knows what it is.

Now I completely agree with you on this, mostly the last line. That's my biggest concern with the whole FFXIII stuff. It really does have a richly thought out background, but the way it was presented was not done very well, which more than likely has to do with Toriyama being a bad director. But in all honesty, the story of the gods and the world/mythos in general is pretty interesting.

I also agree it wont be remembered as a great Final Fantasy even if they make a third part of it and it's amazing. As a trilogy it wont stand up overall. I think it will be remembered as a mediocre trilogy overall, which it is. But I'll enjoy it. I've enjoyed the first two.

Caius is a decent villain. I liked him better than Kuja and Vane. I like that he is a villain that technically really isnt even, but is just in conflict with what he feels is right. Kinda the same as Genesis in a way, where he isnt really evil and follows his own path.

That's sort of hilarious really. :wacky:

First of all, they are true FF games. They are just evolved forms of the games you knew and loved when you were younger. Don't get me wrong as someone who likes them, and thinks they are amazing, but at the same time, some of the things *had* to change. And not just in the graphical field. The turn based JRPG is not a popular concept right now, and turns off most gamers. So, you either move forward, or you try to make games that appeal to a niche market. The fact that FF13 are more movielike is hardly their fault when the entire video game industry is moving that way. Video games are becoming more movielike, especially successful video games. The point here is that they had to ditch the turn based gameplay but still come up with something that played like it so they don't offend their older fans. I'm certainly not saying they did a good job with that all, but what where they supposed to do? Make another FFXII? People bitched about it's gameplay system loads (including myself and I still will). They had a choice, and they made it.

Second of all, there are characters I like or dislike in every FF, ones I wished were better thought out and ones I would have liked to see more of. FFXIII is no different in that aspect. No character is going to appeal to everyone, and I'm sure I wish some of your "iconic" characters were never made. That comes down to personal reaction, and what you identify. I don't think you're going to find a single character that everyone loves, or hates.

Third of all, I see no reason FFXIII's story is any worse than any other FF's stories. They all have plot holes and unexplained things. It is more complex, but I can't bring myself to think of that as a bad thing. I like complex stories. I could do with Final Fantasy being a bit more complex. I wish they'd temper that with explanation, but they didn't even do that with what you probably consider "iconic" Final Fantasys.

Now for a bit of off topic, your complaints about Resident Evil are more of the same. Was the game never supposed to grow or develop? Honestly, some fans act like they'd be happier if their favorite games were just recolored, and had new names for characters. It's ridiculous. Resident Evil has been going more action based lately, but to suggest that just because *you* don't like something, someone else liking that makes them less of a fan then you is egotistical. You don't decide which games are part of series, the developer does, learn to live with it. People who enjoy the new REs are still RE fans and treating them like they aren't is just a good way to discourage people to play the older games you love so much.

The simple way to end all this complaining is to accept that not everyone likes what you do, and that your opinion doesn't become fact just because you feel it strong enough. You claim that they have a huge ego and yet you do nothing but stroke your own through your response, painting yourself as someone who is important enough to make broad statements for a whole fandom. It's okay to complain, but what I find annoying is suggesting that somehow everyone who disagrees with you is less of a fan than you. Thinking people who don't agree with you are less than you is *probably* a fairly obvious sign that you're the one with the ego you claim Square has.

On topic, I'd really rather Square not make another FFXIII just because I'd prefer a new entry in the series that wasn't online. A totally new one, no remakes, no sequels, no HD rereleases, a totally new Final Fantasy with new characters and a new world. Because I'm simply sick of this one. :wacky:

I loved FFXII because still had one of the two things that a RPG needs: Great history and great Gameplay. FFXII had a bad story but great gameplay, XIII doesnt manage to deliver both.
I dont like that Videogames aim to be like movies, we already have movies and books why the hell people want a media that put itself apart from other medias to be the same as others, its ridiculous.

The general consensus is that MOST of XIII characters sucks the exception being at least for me Fang and zasch the others are horrible. In previous FF there is at least ONE character that is so iconic that other games adapt that kind of character for other games: Cloud, Terra, Zidane, Cecil comes to mind. Lightning is just a femenine version of Cloud that fails to reach his awesomenes.

The thing is that those plot holes dont detract from the experience for most FF games and i have played all of them except XI and XIII (I gave up little further after getting Fang), XIII plot is nonsensical and have to read those datalogs is a drag. A plot doesnt have to be complex to be enjoyable is the opposite an easy understandable plot make it easier to shift to gameplay and thus you can have a middle man between story and Gameplay.

Have played Dead Space? This game did what Capcom couldnt, give a creepy atmosfere and a gameplay fit for the current generation. RE 5 was just wrong at least 4 had the creepy atmofere to compensate the lack of survival unlike RE 5 and soon 6 with its cooperative gameplay and regrettably DeadSpace 3 will soon follow. Resident Evil now is like Call of Duty so these new fans like Call of Duty not Resident Evil for what truly was: A survival Horror franchise.

Im a customer and as such i have the right to have my complains being noted, and voice my opinion. SE is selling a product so they must see to please me if they hope to get my money. I dont tell them "i want a character like this for my MC", "I want the history to focus in this character" i just ask that they give me a game that make it worthy of the 60$ price tag and more important Worth of the FF name. They released a sequel that no one asked for (This is in the general sense as there is a small number of people that wanted a sequel for some reason), they didnt heard the fans that wanted a good RPG and more a great FF tittle they just went and make a sequel of the most critically and fan bashed FF game ever made.

Let's keep it peaceful shall we? ;)

In the future, please avoid saying subjective things. Saying things like 'blah blah blah are not true fans because blah blah blah' will cause pages of forum drama without doubt.
