Everything is a lie. And it can be proved with a bit of simple algebra;
Let's suppose that a = b. Therefore, a² = ab

+ a² to each side​

a² + a² = ab + a²

-2ab from each side​

2a² - 2ab = a² - ab

Take a common factor of 2​

2(a² - ab) = a² - ab
Then divide both sides by (a² - ab) and you get 2 = 1.

Amazing eh?
