A day before it was supposed to be announced, Square-Enix has began an online ad campaign which displays the Japanese release date for Final Fantasy XIII. It will be released on the 17th December. Users on 2ch seem fairly sure it's legitimate.

Square-Enix began an ad campaign today on Youtube Japan advertising Final Fantasy XIII. This advert didn't contain a release date but when people twiddled with the url simply changing the word "Before" to "After" this new ad was discovered. We can only assume that the advert was supposed to be put up after tomorrows Final Fantasy XIII event in Tokyo. Both adverts can be seen below:

Oh, finally! December 17th, eh? The NA date was projected to be April 2010, which would be shorter than most localization times (Dissidia was about 9-10 months, right?), but I hope it's true >.<
 
Oh cool. This would have been the perfect christmas gift. Sadly April is not even close to coming and when it comes out in Japan I will be really jealous! This game will be my fave ever. Can they give us more insight instead of just April 2010

Magitek you will ruin it for yourself! Also no worries Kelly ill buy you a ps3 or 360 for FF XIII :ryan: It is your birthday that day! Gotta think. Also I wish it would come before April! Stupid game :ness: xD Well they seem to be working hard on Final fantasy XIII. Looks like the top game to me.

Ruining it for myself is bound to happen. The only game I never ruined for myself was Dissidia; never watched or looked at any spoilers. But at least I have a broken PSP, I will never even own a broken PS3, so I'm good ^^

Besides, I have my eyes on Versus, it looks way better :P
 
I can't wait for the American release date! Ugh, that means I have to save up for both a ps3 and money for the game itself... *sigh* I hate being poor.
 
I heard they are releasing it national, which means all on the same day. So, the 17 will be every country's release date...so I hear.

They've been saying Spring 2010 for the West for a while now, and they said April as the projected month, although it'll probably be after April most likely now -__-

If FFXIII came with English subs I'd probably go and order it and buy a PS3 :awesome:
 
Well, look at the site, silly. It has to be true! Unless a super genius I know named Andrew hacked the site and fooled everyone. But I highly doubt that because he's a ghost! o_O

Besides that, SE loves to screw with people. They say something and mean something else. They are dirty, little, milking liars lol who....makes great games.

Yeah, they're look at April for an NA release the a space of 2/3 months between the EU release, it's quite stupid really, they taking forever to localize the games even though nearly every other games developer get an international launce, or at the very least, a few days between releases max. SE are just piss poor at releasing a game >.>
 
Versus is only limited to PS3 for now I think.

I'll probably just play FFXIII on my 360 - a few people told me it might actually run better there graphic-wise, but then again, I don't know...I've always played FF games on a Playstation console (besides handhelds) so it'd be kinda weird to play it on XBox. I would love to get a PS3 before XIII gets released, but if not, then I'll stick to XBox.
 
The playstation releases to any game that goes to Xbox 360 are always gonna look better.

Versus is for PS3, it will never be for Xbox, sadly. I was hoping the one released for Xbox would be Versus, but no! We got the one with Lightning in it! *angry face*

Had FFXIII been originally developed for the 360 then ported for the PS3 then I daresay I would agree, but they were both developed separately (as far as the PS3 goes anyway) for their consoles, in which, games developed to optimize the PS3 tend to look better than those on the 360, I've definitely read somewhere that the 360 would be identical "where it matters" and that there'll only be noticable differences when comparing the two side by side which to me says the storyline and stuff would naturally be the same, but the PS3 would edge the graphics.

The Xbox has a smoother running graphics system, it cleans out the imperfections, whereas the PS3 just handles higher graphics, its a win-win on both sides, but I couldn't imagine Star Ocean: TLH on PS3, the graphics wouldn't look right.

Honestly, SE have had a boot up their arse about vsXIII for a while now as to whether they will release it on Xbox, honestly, one day I think they will, but I think they will hold it off for as long as possible like TLR.
