Okay, the wrost game thread got me thinking. What Ive noticed is you get a good game on the PS1, say Arc The Lad for example. Good graphics, great story and likeable characters. then a comapny thinks "We have the technology to make a sequel or a game for the series now. Lets try it!"
DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What follows is horrid voice acting, bulky built characters, soddy storyline and horrible battle system ... sometimes, they can stick to the original, but not always the case.

But why does this happen? Off the top of my head I can name these:

Suikoden
Wild Arms
Arc the Lad
Legend of Legaia
Xenogears (Sorry, but the PS2 version was horrid!)

They were classic good old skool PS1 RPGs with brilliant elements to them and they get ruined. Im not saying PS2 games are bad, but when they are following a classic game from an old console, we seem to be let down!

Wild Arms is the only one I've heard of, and while admittedly 4 was absolutely awful because of Jude, I thought 5 was a lot better by comparison, and definitely miles above in story and character likeability. 2 remains my favourite though.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness just pops into my head. There were really twitchy controls that were nearly unbearable - in fact it just kills you really often because of how hindering they are. It did take away the fun of the PSone Tomb Raider games. They could have improved the controls so much and it is a great shame they didn't. Additionally, the game is buggy at places.

OMG, Im glad you mentioned this hun! I took my copy back shortly after for a refund and I wasnt the only person apprantly! And another 1 to add would have to be Broken Sword, a great point and click basics game that got ruined with soddy graphics and also a buggy system!
